QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) How could you possibly think that this team, plus the talent waiting in the wings, will have a 2007-like season? I mean anything is possible, but every indication is that the team gets better next year. Heck even just doing the same would be a low end way to finish. But going 72-90? Simply because the team might have Pods in LF (meaning Rios in CF, CQ in RF, and Dye to DH I assume)? I was just talking Pods' performance. If you think he's an everyday major league LFer, then I have a bridge to sell you. Get a real corner outfielder and use him as a 4th guy off the bench. Do you see him starting for either Boston or New York next year? Then he shouldn't for us either.
-
My gut feeling is if we're re-signing Pods to be the regular everyday LF, we're going to see a 2007-type situation. He's still a 4th outfielder in a perfect scenario. Hudson and Figgins will both be huge FAs and I expect a bidding war, but we will need one of those guys (or Carl Crawford) for 2010. I don't think Dan Hudson will be ready. I expect a $1M retread like El Duque or Colon in the 5 spot. Really, with the quality of the other starters, all we'll need is an innings-eater. I'm in favor of resigning Dotel, or paying another good reliever his $5M. Leave Flowers in AAA til 2011 - sitting as a backup is not a good idea I don't think.

oh my God, I was cursing up a storm at this game before that homer.

QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:19 PM) Hank Blalock is a power hitting lefty thats a FA this offseason. He' plays third which in theory would allow Bacon back to the middle IF and we could keep Dye. Isn't he hurt a lot?

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 08:41 AM) Keep in mind that Thome turns 39 in two weeks. His production is going to hit the wall a lot faster than JD's. The 600 HR pursuit is irrelevant. The strongest arguments for keeping Thome over Dye would be the fact that Thome would probably accept a one-year deal (Dye would likely want a multi-year deal) and the left-handed power bat (which is basically a Band-Aid, as the Sox need a younger left-handed bat for the long term). If Kenny keeps Thome over Dye, it's going to be mostly for financial flexibility. This is wishlist stuff, but what about trading for Adam Dunn to be that LH power bat?

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) 8 starts, if needed. 8-28 at NY 9-2 at Min 9-7 vs Bos 9-13 at LAA 9-18 vs KC 9-23 vs Min 9-28 at Cle 10-4 at Det Sticking with the 5-man rotation, it's actually 8-28 at NY 9-2 at Min 9-7 vs Bos 9-13 at LAA 9-19 vs KC 9-25 vs Det 9-30 at Cle but knowing the way Jose has been pitching as of late, I'd be all in favor of skipping him as much as possible and keeping Peavy on 5 day rest.

How many guys got hit?

I missed the game but am now looking at the threads - can someone explain to me how many of our guys got plunked by the Indians and if it was intentional?

Sotomayor was confirmed today 68-31. FYI.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) To be fair he is a dangerous #9 hitter. With a .197 average?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 05:51 AM) It's also really...REALLY bad for you. Master Cleanse is another way of saying "starvation diet". http://www.everydayhealth.com/blog/zimney-...et-master-scam/ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18595886/ http://www.ehow.com/facts_4829718_master-c...se-dangers.html There is no way to cheat without side effects. Do it right. Eat properly and exercise. No it's not. People fast ALL THE TIME - this is no different. And it's only for a short time - your body can go weeks without food as long as you're hydrating. It's totally healthy. Fasting (the Master Cleanse is a modified juice fast) has been done for thousands of years in most major religions to improve health and when you consider most toxins are stored in the body's fat cells and this leads to obesity, why not do a 10-Day Cleanse to purge them?

Going to the game Wednesday and I have a question about parking

Or even Halsted - the walk isn't that bad, and there's good bars over there for afterward. -
As much as I hate Detroit, they don't suck. When we overtake them, and we will, it will be because we were better. Not because they suck.

I've done the Master Cleanse a bunch of times, and it's wonderful. The last time I did it (two weeks ago) I lost 18 lbs in 10 days, plus got a great energy boost from cleansing a lot of the toxins from my body. Afterward, I take probiotics to replace the good bacteria from the intestines and other organs. Any questions you have about the MC, ask away.

What no one has addressed is if we lose Thome, we will no longer have a power LH bat. Would it be better to resign him for less or trade for someone like Adam Dunn?

Finally saw Harry Potter 6 - liked it more than I thought but the director really screwed up that ending....
