  1. Just call this a gut feeling, a hunch or whatever ... but if the Sox can't turn this around quickly that there will be a new manager by May 15th. They have the talent but are not playing up to their capabilities. I've always been an Ozzie supporter, but it's the manager that falls on the sword. My guess is that they'd give Cora a shot, but I think I'd prefer Buddy Bell. It will be interesting to what kind of responses I get to this post. Bring it.
  2. After reading this thread, the famous words of the immortal Jack Buck seem most appropriate: I can't believe what I just saw!
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) They had 11 in favor of conviction and 1 holdout on the lying about injection charge. They spent $50M and got an obstruction conviction. That's a fail!
  4. This thing might not be over. They may spend even more taxpayer money to retry him. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6356053 Personally, they got their butts handed to them. Let it go.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Clearly I lost that argument. I learned very early in my soxtalk experience to never argue with Steff. Great lady but she can be a bulldog.
  6. I had heard about the probability of the 1918 Cubs throwing the Series. Where there's smoke, there's fire, but really ... what does it does matter today?
  7. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) Much like how Jackson dominated the NL? Hey, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
  8. Hudson would be eaten alive in the AL ... I'll take Jackson in a heartbeat.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:37 AM) Not only was the catch itself impressive, but the SITUATION also makes it that much more amazing. Bases Loaded, 2 outs, and a speed burner who could make it an inside the park grand slam if the ball isnt caught. Well, I just used this but you are also 100% correct. It very well could have been.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 07:34 AM) To add to that, our opposition has seemingly had a ton of bloop hits while we've hit a ton of rockets right at people. Still 6-3 despite some rocky moments this season so I'll definitely take that. You are 100% correct here.
  11. So far I'm 0 for the season .... but without any research I'm picking Beckham just on a hunch. So, if you were thing Beckham you might want to reconsider.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 08:05 AM) I still think they make the playoffs. This! ^^^^^
  13. OK, I'm going to throw some names out there. I got Gibson as one and Johnson as number two. Marichal ... that leg kick was awesome. Drysdale was damn near as mean as Gibson. I'll follow them up with Clemens and Gossage. And Tiant would just befuddle you.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:43 AM) Randy Johnson scared the crap outta me and I wasn't even facing him in the batter's box. Easy choice for me. Johnson was very high on my list. Probably number 2 ... but I was focused on number 1.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) That was a play of the year type of catch. I made a similar comment in another thread before I saw yours.
  16. I believe before all is said and done, Santos will become our closer.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) I have been to a countless number of games, but I've yet to try this. I must do it very soon. Things have been looking up with the starters, that's for sure. The offense has been just about the best around (although I'd like to see them improve some in situational hitting), but I expect the defense to improve. The only weaknesses should be Konerko's range, Pierre's arm, AJ's throwing, and obviously Quentin. That bullpen needs to reach some of its potential because it can be incredible. You all know that I don't truly expect the bullpen to improve greatly due to my pessimistic nature, but they have the talent. I had to smile when I read this, and I don't mean that in any negative way whatsoever.
  18. The Jake Peavy story is not complete.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) Seriously, that will be one of the plays of the year. That may turn out to be THE play of the year. That was a great play.
  20. I've thought long and hard about what I wanted to ask here, and I came up with the adjective "imtimidating" ... I'm not going to ask who was the most imtimidating pitcher of all time, because there are many we have never seen. So, I ask you, who is the most intimidating pitcher you've ever seen? I'm going to have to go with Bob Gibson.
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 05:47 AM) I was about to write that he may have been battling for a starting spot on some of the Sox teams I've watched. Thankfully we're talking the last roster spot. And now you have.
