When our soldiers come home and complain about the press coverage they see being heavily slanted, then I'd say there must me a glimmer of truth in their claims. But, that's just me.

Since I was about 13 years old ..... Deidra Hall aka Dr. Marlena Evans on "Days of Our Lives" ... aka Electra Woman or something like that.

A good read, Heads. Thanks.

Texsox, I'm guessing that's the Hindenburg explosion. Correct?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) Watch Blake win the starting job in Pre-Season, throw for 3,000 yards, and lead the Bears to the playoffs with Much having 100 receptions for 1000+ yards and TJ/Benson running for 2000 yards combined.... 1 can only hope. You better stop smoking that s***. It kills brain cells.

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) Dip Ah. Thank you for clearing that up.

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Well if greenies are as popular in the MLB as has been reported, who knows what the quality of baseball would be like. I don't think that these drugs should be overlooked just because steroids have a larger impact on the game. I never even implied that they should be overlooked. I was stating what I considered the reason for the different levels of fan outcry between the two.

Great Pics. In your Rickwood sequence, there was an elderly gentleman on the field in a wheelchair. I am assuming this was an old ballplayer. Do you have any idea who that was?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Usually a CEO wouldn't lie about it like that. He would say, "Oh yeah, we're just not interested in moving Griffey at this time and that's why so and so will not be accepted." I think your making one hell of an assumption here, but whatever.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) Yeah, but how did that turn out. Reverse psychology here, Kalapse?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) That sucks. Basically tells us that KW was lying. At least that's the impression I got in his latest interview with the guy from Comcast and with statements like, "we're happy with what got us here." I'm utterly dissapointed because I don't forsee the White Sox making the playoffs next year. Maybe it tells us the Reds ceo is lying.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) I don't find it offensive either and I'm latino and I know tons of latinos who don't find it offensive, young and old. That's still not the point. It is demeaning and insensitive.

Brando confrontational? Surely you jest.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Every situation is it's own. I happen to be Latino and I'm not offended whenever people phonetically spell out Ozzies' quotes. In fact, I do it myself. I also call him Ozzie Montana or Scarface. My parents have a thick Latin accent and I'll tease them about it occasionally. Joo noh gwat eye meeng? I happen to think accents are kinda cool. It simply points out an accent. Now if someone tries to link an accent to intelligence or inferiority, then that peson is obviously wrong. Bottom line about Ozzies' situation is this, none of us know why he said those things to his friend. Is it possible that he's homophoic? I guess so, yes. But how about this, maybe his friend has had a lot of gfs or wives, so calling him a homosexual is funny because it's far from the truth. Maybe his friend is a great father, so calling him a molester is funny because it's far from the truth. Maybe at some point, there were rumors about those things being true and Ozzie was just teasing him about it. We don't know. It was an inside joke he said to is friend on his own turf. Finally, I would guess Morissey has probably often times heard black players use the "N" word when speaking to one another. I'm sure he's gotten on his soap box then too. Maybe you don't find it offensive, and that's good for you. However, many Latinos do, as this surfaced a few years back when a newspaper actually publish quotes by a Latino player by spelling it phonetically. If memory serves correctly, the player may have been Sosa. Anyway, the s*** did hit the fan. However, my main point is that we have a double standard in here as to what is allowed by the posters and what will get them jumping down your throat for being 'insensitive'.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) All I have to say, in the most polite way I can, is some people on this board are suckers. There's been nothing that suggests the Reds will trade Griffey Jr. However, every day, there's another 3 threads started about KG Jr. Until you hear reliable information that the Reds are looking to trade KG Jr., go back to rooting for the CURRENT sox team! It may or may not happen, but there's plenty that suggests the Reds might trade Griffey. Usually, where there is smoke, there's fire and it's smoky as hell for over two weeks.

Wondering where that 90% figure came from. Most means 50% plus 1. However, it is safe to assume that a significant number of players go through the waiver process. Any rebuttal of that fact is pure bulls***.

Despite Best Record, White Sox Still Have To Prove
YASNY replied to Moose78's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Although I think it would be great to beat these good teams to shut the critics up, I dont find it necessary to prove anything to anybody until October!!! Exactly. When it comes down to it, you never prove anything till October. That's the only time it matters. -
QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) I think Steve8473 or whatever his name is is trolling you quite effectively. He even put "tee hee" at the end of his post and you still bit. I saw his "tee hee". Quite the feminine expression.

I think he took tongue-in-cheek shots in both directions.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) If the Reds request ML waivers on Griffey Jr 1 of 4 things can happen: 1) A surprise team makes a claim & a trade offer they don't like. They withdraw the request & lose the right to request ML waivers on Griffey Jr again for 30 days. 2) A surprise team makes a claim & a trade offer they can live with & they trade Griffey Jr. 3) An expected team makes a claim & trade offer they like & they trade Griffey Jr. 4) He clears ML waivers. The Reds can then trade him for best offer. I read the Stark link but I still think it's just his general opinion. Mainly because it's not been backed up by a majority consensus of former or current GM's & to the best of my knowledge Kenny himself as never said anything about it. So I'm left to decide between Stark's opinion & logic. Logic tells me teams would not risk losing the right to trade most of their players for 30 days at the risk of having to withdraw a request for ML waivers. So if I accept Stark's opinion then there would have to be a logical reason for it. I would have to conclude that prior to requesting ML waivers on a player a team would first do their homework to determine the likelihood of having to withdraw the request. That means talking to the other teams & finding out who will make a claim beforehand. If there's a near certainty that no team will make a claim then it would make sense to request ML waivers on a player just to clear that hurdle for making the player trade eligible. Will you give it up already? General opinion my ass. Every year hundreds of players go through waivers. There is no risk for the teams to put them through. You can't trade them without doing so. Yet, you kep saying they wouldn't risk it because they couldn't trade them for 30 days. This does not not make any sense whatsoever.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 05:53 AM) Probably? Eh, good point.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:26 AM) I like it...because I think she is getting what she intends to get. Either you appreciate what Ursu does, or you do not. I don't know any other way to put it. I agree. I also don't think she's a dirty, dumb b****.

That little blurb is from the Cincinatti Enquirer

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Why would Cincy want Young and Rogowski? They have plenty of 1b/OF position players. They would want SP most likely. Possibly Tracey, Baj and Liotta. Who knows? But, that was the deal.
