  1. My thoughts, exactly. When a kid has that much talent, why would any father or coach risk it at age 13. Oh yeah. Their own glory. I forgot. Morons. :headshake
  2. I don't have my hopes up on Finley and am well aware of his west coast preference. Regardless, I'd still pursue the possibility if I was in KW's position. If the Sox are not planning on bringing Thomas back for '06. Finley would be an absolute perfect fit for this team. BTW, I also screamed, loudly, for them to try and acquire Finley at the deadline.
  3. If the Rangers are willing to move Texiera, there's the guy we should go after.
  4. It's not a matter of what kind of pitcher is on the hill. If's a matter of giving that pitcher a different look, something to think about. A guy can get into a groove facing a string of RH hitters one after the other. Then you put a lefty bat like Valentin in there against a lefty and he doesn't have to change anything because Jose would get himself out. When a pitcher is facing a lineup where the only dangerous hitters are all righthanded, he can establish a rythem more easily.
  5. Elo's got that 94 mph heater whenever he wants to have it.
  6. I'd save Oswalt for the Series. If you need a starter out of the pen, use Backe. he's been awesome and he'd be scheduled to throw anyway. Use Oswalt for relief in game 6 if needed.
  7. You have to give the Red Sox credit. If they win this thing this would be a Yankee choke job of EPIC proportions. Stienbrenner would go absolutely ballistic.
  8. Offer them both the same money and sign which ever one of them blinks first.
  9. That line up is still WAY too right handed.
  10. Eckersly did it. Who would have thought he'd be that successful. Sometimes you have to think outside the box.
  11. No to Esty as a starter. He's too lazy. However, if he would agree to a bullpen position, I can actaully see him being effective in a closers role. He can "bring it" when he wants to, and with that cutter as his other out pitch, he can be a stud. If he knows he only has to hump it for an inning or two, he could be awesome. The guy is no dummy on the mound and knows how to pitch.
  12. Nice thread. Some of my thoughts: Wells: Bronx bound, I believe Morris: Less risk and more upside than Lowe. Go for it. Radke: Added to Morris would make Garland expendable. Something to think about. Pavano: Called a "sure thing". No player is ever a sure thing. Especially pitchers. Cash wise, Morris and Radke would probably be in the Pavano area. I'd rather add the two veterans. Todd Walker - Eric Young: One key word the Sox are looking for is "defense". These two play with plywood gloves. Pass. Steve Finley: If I was KW I'd really get agressive on this guy. He can still play CF well, and move Rowand to RF. When Anderson is ready, Finley can step into the DH slot and be a 4th outfielder. Thomas's contract will be up after this year and offers the Sox that option. Chicago is the closest AL team to Finley's hometown and he could finish his career as the Sox DH. This one should be doable if Kenny can sell all these points. JD Drew: Plan B if Finley won't bite. Finley would be cheaper. Signing Finley or Drew and moving PK would make the GG infield doable. On e of those left bats would replace most, if not all of PK's production.
  13. They've added Entangled Nine-year-olds How about Emancipated Neanderthals? ............... Eloping Nannies ............... Enlightened Neoconservatives ............... Ethiopian Nuerosurgeouns I'm working too hard at this. Out. Wait. One more. Egotistical New Yorkers ..... This one seemed appropriate at this time.
  14. That's all a matter of interpretation. He may be beating himself up inside, but doesn't usually let it show. How can you judge that when you have no idea what his real emotions are?
  15. Not the best returned serve I've seen from you.
  16. Loaiza is LAZY. He knows he only has to pitch 2 or 3 innings and will rare back and throw the damn ball like he is capable of doing. With the Sox, he'd try throwing junk all the damn time because he didn't want to work so hard for so long. When he was with us he was topping out at 88-90 mph. Then he goes to the AS game, national exposure (like now) and he's hitting 95-96. Williams was right for dumping his lazy ass.
  17. Sounds like you want to finish behind the Twins yet again. Harris, Lee, Thomas, Rowand, Crede, Burke, Konerko, Uribe, Ordonez ... that's who you want back. That's also the starting nine with Uribe in place of Valentin. No thanks. I don't want to replay lastseason.
  18. I still think that's a bit harsh, but he does have to keep his mouth shut.
