Is this the turn-around for the hitting?
whitesoxfan101 replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That 12th inning was bizarro world. With the exception of Paulie's flyout to the wall, every ball we hit that inning was up the middle or the other way. Certainly, the OC warming up like he is helps with him leading off, but we need one of the three between Thome, PK, and Swish to get going for our offense to really turn around IMO. -
2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread

I hopefully will be able to make it to every home game the Wolves play in the finals. Can't wait. -
The Reds have called up Jay Bruce, perhaps the most highly touted prospect in the entire minor leagues (well, until now since he's in Cincinnati). The Reds host Pittsburgh tomorrow, and Bruce is expected to start in CF, while previous CF Corey Patterson may be DFA.

GREAT GREAT win, although it was ugly at times with as bad as both teams hit with men on base. Javy deserves a lot of credit. He had NOTHING tonight and still managed to get the bare minimum QS on the road and keep us in the game while eating some innings. Bullpen was great, and it was a good thing the offense showed up in the 12th because we were down to Wassermann and Jenks down there in the bullpen. Let's get a series win tomorrow, hopefully we learned some things last week against Laffey and hit him hard tomorrow.

God I hate Phil Rogers. He is the prototype Cubbie fan, an idiot with no real knowledge of baseball that hates on the Sox all the time. Amazing part is he's employed and thought highly of by the Tribune and ESPN, because the next good baseball thing by him I read will be the first.

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) Another classy image for Sox fans to be proud of . . . You say this like you think the fan base cares about our image. At this point, the vast majority of us clearly don't. There really is no point in caring either, we're always going to be 2nd class here anyways. One thing that is clear though is the Carol Slezak for dolls rights side of this debate lost the argument in the court of public opinion. I guess the Cubs do it right though at their park. They'll kick you out if you boo or say something bad about Soriano in the LF bleachers, but they don't care when fans throw garbage and baseballs on the field. Throwing crap on the field while players are on it is clearly less dangerous to society than dolls.

Ryan is performing almost on cue right now with his career numbers in the minors. A pretty good hitter of about .290, gets on base at about a .350 clip, will only slug about .400 and play pretty good defense. He's a solid player (I think the Mark Kotsay comparisons we heard when he was young will be quite accurate), but not somebody you should lose sleep over giving up. I am more worried about what the hell is wrong with Swisher, because we need him to figure it out and do what he'd done throughout his career. I still think Swish will be a good player for us, and we knew going in we gave up a lot in that deal. I wish Ryan nothing but the best, but I won't sleep over losing him, especially with Q (and hopefully Swish at his best eventually) around. I'm more worried about DLS and Gio's ability somewhere else hurting us someday (hopefully Danks and Floyd keep doing well, and Broadway keeps improving, so we won't feel as bad about that either though).

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) Gage probably thought I was dead for a while, not responding to his texts. Last year was the freakiest weather we had at home, but I was asleep before the tree fell on to our house. Today was maybe the fifth time ever we went to the basement. We don't go to the basement during a tornado warning or during the sirens if its still light out. My parents both lived through an F5, so they know what they are doing. Today we went down there. This is Parkersburg: http://GOimg.sv.publicus.com/apps/pbcsi.dl...10&Maxw=500 Wow. How far from Parkersburg are you?

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 25, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) Here's your hook echo: Yep that's a classic. When you get that "little thumb" type effect like you have in that image, it's almost a lock to be a tornado.

Glad to see you guys are ok. A tornado also destroyed part of a town in Minnesota and 20 people are missing according to the AP. Rough weather to say the least.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ May 25, 2008 -> 11:13 PM) The Left Field bleachers were passing around a blow up doll from row to row, like a beachball. hilarious. I did not notice that from my seats behind the 1st base dugout, too bad, but that is hilarious. There was a guy behind the 3rd base dugout, he had a sign that said "draft D Rose" and his friend had a sign that said something like "Yankees and Red Sox highlights next on sportscenter" and I found that quite funny too. Great crowd tonight.

Reason to Suspect Quentin is Using Illegal Substances

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ May 25, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) The Rosenbloom & Baum show was great. It aired on Saturday mornings from 6 AM to 10 AM on the Score, so most people on here probably didn't catch it too often, but I looked forward to it every week (it coincided with my work hours). I was actually referring to his short lived show on ESPN Radio with Salisbury. I never heard that show because that's the one time I get to sleep, but maybe it was better and Rosenbloom was just bad with Salisbury. -
All I can do is laugh now with Q, his greatness right now is beyond words. Great to see Count with the nasty forkball tonight too, he's untouchable when he has it. HUGE HUGE win, let's get it in Cleveland now. Also, I was at the game (had great seats). Two guys behind the Sox dugout had signs, one said "draft D Rose" and the other said something to the extent of "Yankees and Red Sox highlights NEXT on sportscenter". Did they show that sign on TV? I was dying laughing.

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ May 25, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) I've been reading his stuff and listening to him on the radio since the early 90s. I'd say that he's on point in the vast, vast majority of cases. His wit is amazingly sharp, and his brand of humor is similar to that of Boers & Bernstein. Hell no to the bolded. He, like Boers and Bernstein, started his radio show in the late morning originally. Nine years later for B&B, and they have a top of the line late afternoon drivetime show, while Rosenbloom's show bombed after a year (if it was that long). If he were so smart, he wouldn't have been forced to run back to the newspaper only after a miserably failed radio show. -
For all the love the Cubs get, they are AWFUL on the road. Classic team built for their home park, because their offense takes naps on the road for large portions of the game. Soriano is quite the fielder btw.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) The Juice is loose! Indeed. I was reading athlon sports online, has Illinois as preseason #16 in the land in football. Expects Juice to have a huge year. I went to Elgin the other day to visit a friend, went to the casino there for the first time. Won 50 bucks. Good times. Oh, and for those of us with 15 posts per page and not 50, new page.

Don't start one of these tomorrow. These things had a hell of a run though. I wanted to post in here, but I thought it might be bad luck.

Charlotte: 5-2 win. Richar 0 for 4 in his debut, and Owens was able to finally nudge that OBP into the very low 300's, way to go Jerry!! Russell down to a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings. The 10 walks are too many, and his 0.83 GO/AO is meh, but he's been solid. Fields went 2 for 3 with 2 homers, 4 RBI, and two walks. Getz 1 for 3 with a walk, Eldred went yard again. Ohka finally won a game, but he's still horrid. Childers still on fire out of the pen. Birmingham: 5-4 win. David Cook went 0 for 2, but drew 3 walks and scored 2 runs (love that guy, call him up to AAA). Mercedes went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Cassel was ok (6 IP, 6 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, 3 k's). Fernando Hernandez was solid, he's somehow 3-0 despite a 5.84 ERA in limited action so far down there. Save for Lujan. W-S: 8-7 win. Maxwell and Chirino were awful on the mound, Rote (scoreless inning, 0.87 ERA), Brooks (4 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 6 K, win), Texeira (7th save) were not. 2/3 of the lineup had two hits each to spread out the 12 hits. Orlando hit a home run, Allen stayed hot. Kanny: 3-1 loss. Moreno still struggling to come back from the injury (4 IP, 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 walk, 2 k's). Perez had a perfect 8th and struck out the side. Miranda and Morales both 1 for 3 with a walk. Logan Johnson continues to struggle (0 for 3 with a walk, hitting .118 the last 10 games).

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 23, 2008 -> 10:46 PM) I to this day can't understand why guys cheat with girls that don't look as good as the person they're with. Vanessa Bryant DESTROYS whoever this Curry chick is. If you're gonna cheat, cheat up. Words of the wise from J4L. Well cheating is generally pretty stupid and people who cheat are generally being stupid to do so. With that in mind, it should be no surprise that people cheat down the majority of the time, because the act itself is stupid, and thus the taste of the person doing it will often follow suit in that regard.

Best part about that game? It's currently in a rain delay. In San Diego!!! That only happens about once every three years down there.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) I heard a rumor at work that Kobe is banging the Laker girl named Vanessa, and that's why her link isn't active on this site.... http://www.nba.com/lakers/lakergirls/index.html Her link is no longer active because she was forced to resign from the Laker girls due to all the rumors. http://jeanettes-celebrity-corner.com/2008...a-curry-photos/ This story just got hot this week. He's an NBA player through and through, and although I don't think he raped that girl in Colorado, of course he cheats, almost all pro athletes do. You'd figured he'd be smarter than to do it with somebody as high profile as a Laker girl though.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) I was so hyped for these playoffs, but besides the Hornets and some Lakers games, nothing has really intrigued me. I thought the Lakers and Pistons were, by far, the two best teams entering the playoffs. That rematch of four years ago would be a hell of a series.
