Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
Middle Buffalo replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Anyone playing the outfield is always going to have plays where the ball is just a little out of reach. No matter how fast they are. Vaughn getting injured diving could happen to any of these guys traveling at a full sprint and diving. He’s a pretty sure handed fielder and he takes good routes to the ball. He’s just slow. For Adam Engel, this is a catch on the run. For Vaughn, it is not. The question is if diving is ever really worth it. It is certainly not in ST. It may be a business decision these guys have to make during the regular season. -
Andrew Vaughn hurts hip pointer, out 1-2 weeks per White Sox

If this was one of the Cubs, we’d know already. Jesse Rodgers would be reporting live from the candlelight vigil he held overnight. -

Since it’s a leg injury, they probably wouldn’t want to make him walk. He left on the cart through the RF bullpen area. More than likely, the medical facility is a little bit away from the stadium in an adjacent building where the clubhouse is. -
Earlier in the show, Amy Shumer paid tribute to the couples in the room. Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett. And Jake and Maggie Gylenhall (brother and sister). Should Jake Gylenhall have walked on stage and slapped Amy Shumer for implying an incestual relationship?

He was injured a lot. Can’t be coached off the DL.

I liked Rodon. I wouldn’t have been mad if they signed him to exactly what he got in SF. The healthy version of him proved he can be TOR, but this might have been a case of throwing good money after bad. He didn’t exactly earn every penny they paid him prior to last year, and even last year they had to shut him down. He doesn’t have a ton of room to complain. No excuse for doing this to Giolito, though. Just pay him some of the money that “will be spent.” There has to be a cookie jar full of it in JR’s office.

3/22 Spring training game vs MIL
Middle Buffalo replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2022 Season in Review
I’m assuming Vaughn will rotate between 1B, LF, RF and DH. I’d be looking for Adolfo to take some of Leury’s ABs in RF. -

I feel like I’ve been hearing his name long enough, and without any FA signing, I’d like to see them bring him up to see what he can do. Let him be part of the RF rotation. -
It doesn’t make sense to me that people drastically reduced travel over the past two years and teleworked, yet gas prices didn’t go down. What do I know though? As long as the gas execs get their bonuses and the companies get their subsidies, I’m happy.

If Kofi’s the only interior threat, the other 4 guys (or at least 3) on the floor need to be legit outside threats. Most of the time, the Illini only had 1-2 at most who could shoot. Not sure what was going on with Williams, but he was useless - seemed afraid to shoot. -

I don’t think the one they called earlier was a goaltending, so it may have balanced out. Does Illinois even run an offense? It seems like they just bring it down, and it’s one pass and a bad shot most possessions. -
Is Lucas Giolito going to regain his role as ACE of the Sox staff?
Middle Buffalo replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I laughed, but this is a pot-kettle situation if ever. -
What are you paying? $4.69 here in Mesa. I can get 5 cents off using Fuel Rewards at Shell and another 5 cents with T-mobile Tuesday. Sometimes I can find gas around 10 cents cheaper somewhere else though. I drive a 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid and get 35mi/gallon, but it still hurts to fill up once a week. Thinking of going electric. Worked ok for Dylan.

I feel like my indifference had something to do with the lockout ending. You’re welcome.

I don’t even care what they’re fighting about. I don’t identify with either side. I’ll watch games when it’s over. No matter what happens, fans will be the biggest losers.

I think this should be the case in all sports. Play a balanced schedule and the best teams make the playoffs. I’m all for expanded playoffs, too.

This sounds like what the rest of the US is dealing with. The rich getting richer while the middle class is eroding.

His rookie season had me thinking he was the next Paul Molitor.

No need to change the monogrammed towels in the locker room. Ted Phillips and the McCaskeys - always one step ahead of the league.

Schilling used to come in a local AZ radio show weekly when he played here, and he is undoubtedly one of the best athletes I’ve ever heard on the radio. He never shied away from giving his opinion on anything. I’m not a fan of his politics, and I don’t think I ever really liked him as a person, but to be held out because of your beliefs seems unfair. We want athletes to have opinions and be interesting- as long as we agree with them, I guess.

Same. I used to leave for work at 4:30am for a few years, and I’d always catch the end of his show that he led into with “Let’s Spend the Night Together.” I can’t hear it without thinking of the Grobber. I guess that’s the great thing about music - the connections it makes. Edit - Had the song wrong. Popped into my head today. What can I say? It’s been 20 years.

Didn’t say or imply this one move sunk him. I agree with SS2K5, the Jackson move seems like the obvious thing to do at the time. He was a game changer. I’m not sure what happened, but he was terrible afterwards. Like worst DB on the field terrible.

Outside of unnecessary trades of draft capital, I think one of Pace’s biggest blunders was the extension for Cohen. He was a third down, change of pace back. Obviously, the injury makes it hard to judge, but it seemed like a premature, bad idea at the time.
