  1. Like others have said, it doesn't matter. I have no expectations for anything this season. I'm just watching at bat's and hoping guys improve. The scoreboard is meaningless for me.
  2. Like in literally every other sport, good players make coaches/managers look good. There's not a whole lot baseball managers can do to lose games when they have good players.
  3. Probably the years they won 55, 56, 51 and 70 games.
  4. We can say fuck now? God bless!
  5. Drag and drop gifs. I'm in!
  6. I'm gonna go ahead an toot my own horn here. I also thought his problems aren't pitch recognition, but bat control. If he can learn to fight off good pitches, he'll be a monster.
  7. Avi's always had an absolute ton of red flags at the plate and on the field. I haven't liked him since the first time I saw his swing.
  8. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 01:26 PM) HeGoan isn't struggling because it's cold. He's struggling because he has a steep learning curve for this country and the game of baseball here. He is young and will learn. I don't see him as a generational talent, but he can settle in hitting .275 with an OBP of 380. He will hit a ton of homers and doubles when he makes better contact. His defense has been surprisingly good though, which will add to his value. Good to know you're okay with your 2nd baseman playing good defense while getting on base at a .380 clip and hitting a "ton of homers."
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 01:18 PM) It’s a good question. Based on comments from both Ricky & Yoan, it sounds like there may be mechanical issues at play. And I’d prefer that over an inability to recognize the pitch. That's kind of my suspicion too, which is why I think he lacks the bat control to hit lead off. Obviously the team knows better than me though.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 12:53 PM) I’m sure the cold is a small part of it, but the bigger issues presently are his general struggles batting right-handed and his inability to recognize and/or make contact with sliders. He’s swinging & missing on a whopping 52% of breaking balls this year and the vast majority of those have been sliders. Teams have noticed as the percentage of sliders thrown to him has increased by nearly 10% this year. Warmer temperatures aren’t going to help much with those issues. I wonder if he's recognizing that they're sliders and is having trouble fighting them off or if his pitch recognition is just wrong.
  11. Without knowing the packages offered, it's pretty futile to debate trade value. Players are only worth what another team is willing to pay. Basic economics. On to Moncada...from what little I've seen, his issues don't seem to be strike zone judgement as much as bat control. For his development, that doesn't really concern me. However, a young player struggling with bat control shouldn't be leading off. I much prefer pesky lead off hitters. I like guys with not only a good eye, but also enough bat control to fight off tough pitches and the ability to spray the ball. The lead off hitter's job should be to get on base and frustrate pitchers. Make them work. Piss them off. Set the tone. Rookies typically don't have that ability. Some of these nuances seem to be lost in modern baseball though.
  12. I think I'm just going to stop following the site during the rebuild. Some of you guys are miserable.
  13. I can't believe this is even a conversation 1 week into the season.
  14. Moncada has 286 career PA's. To say "2+ years" is so disengenuous that it's pretty much just a lie. What an awful point.
  15. In fairness to Sweeney, he had one of the prettiest swings I've ever seen, on any level. It's not hard to see why people were excited about him. Some guys just don't pan out. It happens to more prospects than those who make it, in literally every single organization.
  16. Even if Avi continues to hit well, I'll still see him as too high risk for a long term investment.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 05:55 PM) This 100%. Pretty disappointed with this year’s nominees in general. I still have three to go, but pretty weak group after Get Out & The Post IMO. The Big Sick is better than all of them and totally got snubbed. The crazy thing about Get Out is that it's getting so much praise with a lot of people not understanding what it actually is. It's not a genre film, it's satire. To a lesser extent, it reminds of Robocop in that sense. Robocop was a satire most people didn't "get."
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 10:29 AM) Big Sick is pretty great, so was Dunkirk. Dunkirk was extremely well made, but as a narrative, it was far too lacking to consider "great." It had almost zero character development.
  19. I'd imagine this is something he's been involved in for years. You don't just start with 20+ kilo's.
  20. Baseball players have to be a great market to sell cocaine. Lots of money. Lots of long road trips and hours. Lots of alcohol and partying. Doesn't stay in your system long. Somebody has to get all these players their coke.
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 09:59 AM) Except that he kept grabbing her hand and putting on his crotch. So, it wasn't just bad sweet talk. He was clearly trying to pressure someone into having sex with him that seemed to be pretty clear they didn't want to. That's not sexual assault under the circumstances though. It's not even close. Even in this climate, the vast majority of people agree he did nothing wrong other than being awkward. The public isn't condemning him.
  22. I don't follow the minors nearly as closely as you guys do, but I like the mix of guys like Rutherford, whose floor is probably 4th OF, and Adolfo, whose ceiling is All Star. There's some nice balance there.
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 04:58 PM) Aziz Ansari is next. Honestly, this is another tough one for me. He did the typical male move of trying to sweet talk his way into having sex with a woman. And this woman consensually got naked with him, performed oral sex on him (more than once), received oral sex from him....but didn't leave his place for hours and when she wanted to leave she did. I'm sure she felt gross and bad afterwords but that's some clearly mixed signals being sent to Aziz. edit: not saying this shouldn't spark a convo that men shouldn't be sweet talking/strongly pressuring women to have sex, but at the same time this shouldn't ruin his career. Nah. This is the one that triggered people into thinking the accusations are getting a little out of hand. It's great this whole thing has raised awareness and there's a large scale discussion about redefining acceptable behavior, but some of the accusations are hollow. Ansari did nothing wrong other than being not exactly suave. Pretty much every thing I've heard/read from the general public has agreed.
  24. With the Peloton you're not really paying for the bike, you're paying for the program. If it was just about cycling, you'd be way better off buying a road bike and rollers. You'll get a much higher quality bike that you can actually ride outside if it fits your fancy. Also, if you plan on putting any serious miles on it, invest in a decent saddle, especially if you value your ability to get an erection.
