06/29 GT: NYY vs. CWS
ruptured right patella tendon for fowler, if you can believe it I actually ruptured BOTH mine at the same time. That's an awful injury, way worse than ACL, I knew it when he did it, same mechanism as mine. Usually tho you're 30 lbs overweight and in your 30s and male and a weekend warrior when you do it though, not a 20 something pro athlete. FWIW I am 100% back 2.75 years in. Maybe a bit slower cutting on the tennis court and I don't play basketball anymore, but I hike (with weight loss and smarter weight training) and do everything I used to just as well. That said, it's great he's having surgery tonight, the sooner you do the repair the sooner you get back and the less scar tissue you deal with. He'll be back. He'll get PRT as well. Victur Cruz, Jimmy Graham also had the injury and Richards on the Angels. Cruz struggled to return, Graham and Richards have done well coming back.

Shields simply does not throw enough strikes.

God, what a bad injury for Fowler, looks like a shattered patella, maybe torn or partially torn patella tendon. First thing the trainer did is put his fingers over his patella and he couldn't bear weight at all. Ugh, nasty.

QUOTE (kwill @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 08:17 PM) You know I really do think it is time to see Reynaldo. I am huge fan of him and think that with some Cooper instruction he could be an a top level arm. I am extremely glad how the White Sox have taken it slow with him and most of the prospects this year compared to years past but I think it is time for him to come to the majors as he ready for his next step in development. I'm a huge fan of Lopez as well. I think he's almost criminally under rated because he doesn't profile as a "off the bus" type body for a TOR starter. But he has three pitches he can throw for strikes and if he can throw 94-96 as a MLB starter he will have quite a lot of success over his career. I think he can turn into a quality 3rd starter within the next few years, if not more.

Should Sox claim Montero?
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 04:43 PM) This guy is an awful teammate. I hope he rots in Iowa. It's highly unusual for a GM to speak so candidly like Theo did when they let him go. Theo basically threw him under the bus, saying he was released mostly for "being a bad team mate". Now I'm sure if he was a star player things would be different but he's not and he's a borderline starter at best so why even bother? The last thing the Sox need is toxic guys in the clubhouse during the rebuild. With the way the losses are piling up (good in the long term but frustrating short term, see Renteria's ejections) this clubhouse needs positive vibes. That's not Montero.

Should Sox claim Montero?
No, not worth the hassle and impact it might have on the pitching staff, especially when Lopez and Rodon are both in it.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Engel looks like the heel from Encino Man but damn if he's not the first good defensive center fielder to actually look the part when he came up. lol,

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) Engel looks really good His timing mechanism makes his hitch work but I worry he could be prone to long slumps. That said, he's impressing me.

New York vs. Chicago
That was a nice play by Engel but that Jason call on the outro was cringe. edit: that said, I'd love to see what Statcast thought the probability of him making that catch was. It had to have been less than 10%.
