Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Fegan is amazing. Jim is a wondering lost soul of a prior era of writing that no longer resonates with anybody except fellow Gen X travelers. You nailed Josh.

You put it a little more harshly than I would, but yea.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
The middle of that crap sandwich is exactly as you noted. Not only did we not spend big on excellent players, we spent too much on crap players including for some strange reason a bunch of relievers.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
There is an alt universe where we sign one of Machado or Bryce, add a big SP and make a WS and become a fun, destination type club. Instead we got...this s%*#.

Gerrit Cole to have TJS....likely won't be back until mid-2026
One thing my surgeon said about my tendons that ripped is that "micro stress" and "micro tears" are often an indicator of eventual full rupture. My own research in my rehab indicated that middle aged active in sport men with a history of patella tendonitis were one of the most extreme outliers for patella tendon ruptures. I say this only to wonder if eventually they will have some sort of tool or solution to ID'ing the initial stages leading to a TJS beyond just "soreness" or "inflammation". Maybe we can ID the problem so early that eventually you just get a little fix before it even happens.

3/10 - Sox @ A's - 3:05 CDT - spring training
To put a positive post out I like the situation with our young C and SP. There are some green shoots there. Problem is almost literally everything else but watching good young catching and SP is fun and maybe something we can hang our hat on as the season progresses.

Gerrit Cole to have TJS....likely won't be back until mid-2026
He almost had it last year. Human elbow just isn't meant to throw baseballs 95 mph+ without wear and tear eventually requiring surgery. It's become a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy as well as @ptatc says in the rehab and prevention field it's almost just assumed you might as well get it out of the way sooner or later so you've got guys going max effort at all times and just wondering when their name will be called. I'm not sure it's a problem for the league, but it's certainly a problem for individual players and their careers. I believe someone will eventually create a training plan that reduces the risk, as there is too much money at stake not to, but I don't think it will ever be completely mitigated.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
agree, make that the 5th now that you mention it.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
you can't play out a classic. especially one right in the heart of your demographics. Sox should have 4 jersey's imo. The all blacks, SS, pin whites, 83s. So many teams even in MLB have ruined their iconic jerseys by introducing too many. Keep it simple, play the hits.

Passan address current challenges with TB/A's stadium situations, cites Sox and Royals predicaments
Comparing Sox park to TB or Oakland makes no sense. Citing Arlington makes no sense. Most of Passans article is a stretch get on back there. MLB has decided that gate revenue is only a fraction of revenue and teams are fine with it. The Sox will be in Chicago for the foreseeable future one way or another. When something changes I am sure we will all see it but this Nashville talk and this article are not it.

That's a White Sox Winner
you can put it on the board (as a spring training win on a horrific team) yes!

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Eh, that's just a feel good BS story. Stretching is important, it's hardly some cure for structural issues in the body. It's worrisome that he seems to have issues in his core two springs running. He's a big, bulky dude, part of his rating as a prospect is that he's going to be a power hitting SS or 3B. If he can't play a good 3B long term because of his back that's a bummer. We'll see I'm not that concerned as I said, just a little bit more than I was the other day.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Pretty clear this was more than just a random muscle spasms in his back. I've raised my concern level from like 2 to 4 here I guess. Still fairly low but he's been out what, like 10 days now? He def tweaked something, it wasn't just a ramp up response.

3/7 Cubs @ Sox - 2:10 CST - CANCELLED
he say anything interesting?

3/7 Cubs @ Sox - 2:10 CST - CANCELLED
Those flash storms in spring of AZ are no joke. Camelback has a paved lot, some other stadiums are mostly dirt and I def have a not so fond memory of getting into a rental car in a sloppy ass parking lot on a spring training trip.

3/6 - Sox/Giants 2:10 CST - spring training
I can almost guarantee that not only does Gallo make the team he inexplicably steals ABs from Vaughn, who we should be giving every single PA to try and figure it the hell out.

A split squad lineup but it's the full roster. Yikes.

Fletcher is fine for what he is. 4th OF type. He'd be a great 26th man.

It really is amazing how a team this fan murdering still has active threads like this appreciate the info even if myself is a 2/10 excitement level

White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
They probably want to move one of them to RF which would be silly at this point in their careers. I think it's BS. Mariners are a notoriously staid franchise and one that will always choose the path of least criticism.
-
White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
I do too. I would have a pretty radical rest plan for him as it's the only thing that really matters, certainly more important than having him hit a game winning HR or something. I'd start him three days a week in the OF and twice at DH and let him rest the other two. It will never happen but if this org really was serious about maximizing the chance of a quick(ish) rebuild it would be implemented.

He looks healthy and that's all that matters. If he's healthy, production will be there. Even when he came back last year he never looked right imo.

Some outfields get hits. Ours takes hit. Hey now!
