No reason to rush to trade Vargas, as of now he's still got plenty of control and is an ascending player. He also seems to be a bit of a clubhouse leader and we do need that, it helps guys in ways we don't see, and while it might not mean much, it does make coming to work a better experience and that never hurts.

He has one of the prettiest swings and we all saw it right away in spring training. When he misses it's usually because he was fooled, not because he had a bad swing path.

Quite a few Japanese tweets about how the Sox need to say they are committed to him before they plan a summer trip. Makes sense from their perspective but there's no way the Sox will box themselves in like that and I agree. While it would be sad to churn another great player into prospects if you can get a haul I'd do it. Nobody even knows if we are playing next year as mentioned. Personally, in my heart of hearts, I'd prefer to just keep him and see how next year shakes out, but that is emotional thinking.

Time for the sodfather to make his money, although with my posting accuracy lately he probably retired 5 years ago.

between Burke, Noah, Martin, Fedde and kay/Smith we probably have 2 decent starters and 3 swingmen masquerading as rotation options. It's just hard to win that way. So far they've over performed the back of their base card as a group, to their credit, but I don't expect that to last.

I just don't see much evidence we've reached a "fun bad" stage. When you have 3/5 of the rotation held down by scrubs and 4/9 in the daily lineup same I'm not sure you can call that fun bad, that's just bad.

There's some strange ass stuff on Twitter about how this Sox team is the best most exciting 11-17 team ever. I don't know where this comes from other than from the club itself and perhaps some stockholm syndrome fans. I don't know about you but that weekend series with the Snakes was awful to watch and reminded me of the corpse ball era. 4 instant easy outs in every lineup and the other half has talent but isn't elite.
