  1. Yeah they still gave their crap manager too much credit but they’re coming down hard on this team and did a decent job of justifying it for announcers.
  2. God anyone just conduct a real search and at least try to get it right.
  3. “They’ve been the definition of average, and the talent there is not average, the manager is not average.” FS1 guys I agree just not in the same way.
  4. “It’s nights like tonight if you’re a fan of the south sliders that make you want to pull your hair out. They just don’t hit for power.” - FS1 I think Karros
  5. While I don’t hate Katz, I would strongly prefer to have a manager and GM who are on the same page and work together to build a coaching staff.
  6. You realize if they win you get to make game threads for the whole winning streak?
  7. Well, if they’re going to go 5-2 on this stretch before the Astros and Guardians, they have to go 5-1 in their next 6 games. Fair to ask? No. Did they leave themselves a lot of choices? Nope.
  8. I would be surprised and impressed if somehow this turned into a 50/50 split on playing time.
  9. Not only does the qualifying offer not exist any more, but Abreu already was offered one so he couldn’t be offered another even if it did exist. I have no real idea what will happen with Abreu this offseason. If he wants to come back I would guess he will be back both for team good will reasons and because they legitimately need his bat as one of the only effective ones in the lineup. But…they have very little to spend. If they kept Abreu at the same $20 million as this year, their additional spending would be a pittance. Abreu himself also seemed hesitant about any additional years early this spring, so I don’t know what he wants. What I would say is…if they added $27 million next year for Sale, they would not likely have room for another $10-$20 million for Abreu.
  10. First reaction - what the Hell Chris? Second answer - if this were 2019 I might think about it, but right now my count has the White Sox already close to or above $165 million in payroll next year, counting arbitration guys and assuming they let Harrison, Cueto, and Abreu all walk. Their payroll this year is $190 million and that sure seems like a number they would be hard pressed to push past. Adding Sale not only pushes them past their 2022 payroll, but it also leaves them literally no money to improve anywhere else, including even keeping Abreu. No LH bats added not currently in the org. Unless they can subtract serious money in the process, this is not workable. Grandal and Leury for Sale?
  11. This is from the official league site so I would strongly suspect it is accurate if there were any updates with the CBA. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/outright-waivers
  12. The last series with the Royals, the white sox actually won the series. Prior to that, over their last 6 series against KC, the White Sox had not taken the series once. Either splits or series losses.
  13. 5-2 followed by 3-4 or 4-3 would be legit progress and they might well pass the Twins if they could pull that off, unless they can pull their own stuff together.
  14. The white Sox have played 5 double headers this year, their record is 5-5. What’s interesting is their record is 4-1 in game 1 and 1-4 in game 2. They only were swept once, by Cleveland in that terrible losing streak early in the year. They only have swept one, against the Yankees where I believe Kopech had a masterful game 2. So I guess bet the white Sox in game 1 and be concerned about game 2?
  15. High wage immigration has very substantial limitations on it as well. Green cards take years to get even when people have jobs. It costs tens of thousands of dollars in time and legal fees to make that happen for most people.
  16. If it was just a confidence problem, I don’t think it would show up so clearly in his statcast numbers. The biggest problem is he’s not hitting the ball hard any nor, not at all. This happened to him in 2020 after he had lingering COVID issues. He recovered some last year, and then is right back where he was in 2020 now. This sure seems like something physical or technical with him.
  17. I was thinking the same thing. 4 against KC and 3 against Detroit before 4 against Houston and 3 against Cleveland. Have to pick up some wins here.
  18. I said this earlier…in baseball it’s not fair to say “you have to go into this team’s ballpark and win 3 of 4,”, but like it or not the White Sox don’t have a lot of options here. A short run of wins by their opponents could push them into a much bigger hole, and they basically can’t afford a losing streak. They don’t have a lot of games left to make some wins happen.
  19. Do you think that right now another team would take his whole contract on if he were available on waivers?
