  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) He wouldn't trade any of them for draft picks. He'd trade them to free up money and bring in a boatload of young talent on the verge to fill the holes that the team has. Also it would be pretty easy to get out that Danks is looking for $100 million plus as a justification for making the deal. Same difference though...KW didn't trade off anyone for prospects after 2005. He traded off players to bring in Jim Thome.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) AT&T wireless users, what are your thoughts on your service? I posted on Facebook that we were thinking of switching to AT&T, I got 11 responses. Of those who actually have HAD AT&T, 4 were negative and 4 were positive. The rest of the comments were people who "heard" AT&T was bad. Wireless as in a wireless phone or as in say a home network?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) Kenny has never been afraid to trade a big named, or popular player, even after winning the World Series. But he didn't trade any of them for draft picks after 2005. He did so to try to get better in 2006. Not to rebuild.
  4. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) In the way of catastrophic injuries, the White Sox have been incredibly lucky. The training staff is incredible at both keeping players healthy and getting them back to health after an injury. There's more to it than luck. There's the training staff. There's also the type of guys we sign. There's also the type of contracts that the team gives out; they're not giving out 8 year deals to guys or $25 million contracts to 37 year olds.
  5. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) I considered noting that, though I figured it was obvious and I decided to keep it a positive post. Assuming it counts last year...that really does tell you how healthy the Sox have been otherwise.
  6. QUOTE (since56 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) Publicly insulting any umpire is never a good idea. They stick together. I haven't gotten that impression with West.
  7. January job number = awful, with caveat noted in previous post.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 11:50 PM) Nobody said anything was fact. Until Dayan proves he can play a position at an acceptable level then his value is supressed. Again...when has he been given the chance? He played 1 full season at 3b, then spent 1/3 of a season at 1b, 1/3 of a season on the major league bench, and then the last part of last season back at 3b, not because he wasn't getting better at any position, but instead because of the needs of the major league team.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Dbaho, your perimeter D is AWFUL. This is why you don't make moves simply to appease your superstar. The Magic were better before the trades. The Magic have nobody that can even bother Lebron or Wade. I think Keith Bogans will help them. They should trade for him.
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 03:36 AM) On top of that, if Lebron wasn't playing SF I think a better fit for him would be PF than SG. If he ever bothered to learn a low post move or two, yes.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) America supporting its best interest (opposing the USSR) ends up not being better for them in the long haul. This link will be caught by the swear filter, but I think it's an on-topic point.
  12. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Totally agree, KW and JR will not play this arbitration game each year. If the Sox win the division this year, and D1 has a good year, they might well just run him out there next year and try to repeat.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) Having someone give a five second explanation for a delay has nothing to do with funding. You don't get that on anyone's system if the delay is only a few minutes.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) The problem is they could be doing this stuff on the buses and trains right now, but don't. I can't tell you how many times in 12 years I have been stuck on a train, where not even the people running the train have any idea what is going on. Despite not living there, I've definitely gotten the impression that the Chicago Public Transit system is one in need of serious funding/upgrades.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) Whose smart phones though? How do you know the information coming out is trustworthy? I would say that a CTA app which linked to live updated train locations and cancellations as they are posted would be a great way for the public to get that information instantly as decisions are made. Bus services have been getting on these systems for exactly that purpose over the last year or so; you put a GPS on a Bus and people can get information about how long they'll be waiting at a stop. If it's an official CTA app, then the information would come directly from the people running the trains and making cancellation/activity decisions.

  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) Bears meatheads will adore this guy. Well, they do need a #1 WR this offseason...and heck, if they go to replacement players, he's got as good of a shot there as he does of taking over LF.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) I hope they tell him he's not wearing 85, and take out the dreds. This kid needs to be knocked down a few pegs. I think 85 is a totally appropriate number for him coming into spring training.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Either the "baggage" is keeping his OPS at .723 or he's just not as talented as everyone hypes him up to be. He could totally be just as talented as the hype and be one of the guys who never learned how to play up to his talent level.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) It's funny how he's one of the players that people have kinda "forgot" about the whole roids issue, as opposed to other guys. I'm sure it has a lot to do with his immediate admission, while his buddy Roger made a spectacle out of it all. I think the fact that he wasn't an obvious HOF caliber player, and the fact that there are clearly other roided-up people on a number of WS winning teams, both played into that.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) I don't know if baggage is the right word, but there has to be a reason why 3 different teams gave up on all that supposed talent so quickly. (Sounds kinda like Edwin Jackson, lol) The combination of baggage and a career .723 OPS.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Planned Parenthood isnt anti-abortion, at least I dont believe so. Ive actually never gone there to shop for an abortion, so im not 100% sure. This ought to sum things up.
  23. If this team wins 75 games this year, they will not be all-in for 2012. If this team wins 95 games this year, they will certainly be all-in for 2012. In-between that...depends on how the year goes.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Why aren't we taking control of Canada?! Socialized health care is evil.
  25. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) This is the problem of the US. We want to control things, we want to use our power, but we want to use it in a way that we arent forcing people into things. We could easily take over a large portion of the worlds oil supply and not even blink But we dont, because we try and play nice. I think the last 11 years has shown us...this really isn't true, unless we want to kill everyone who is already there. Taking over it is easy. Having people who work on the oil rigs and don't destroy them is hard.
