Tensions Grow in Korea
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 28, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) I'm a little hawkish, we got this kickass military so we might as well go around scaring the s*** out of states that are posturing. It worked great for the last 8 years!

Joe West has an agenda
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:29 AM) Per the Tribune and Yahoo Sports, "MLB Bringing the Hammer Down on Joe West" http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...mpire-west.html There's such a thing as the "World Umpires Association"? Just another case of international law screwing over the U.S.

- Peavy expresses concern about tired arm
Peavy will skip his usual bullpen throwing session this time through.- Ozzie and KW - what will happen?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:47 AM) Unless this team falls into a death spiral, no one is going anywhere. Even if that happens, Ozzie is the only one on the hot seat IMO. How do you define a "Death spiral"?- Ozzie and KW - what will happen?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) Well, Gordo appears to be breaking out of it Really? He's put up a .511 OPS his last 7 days.- Ozzie and KW - what will happen?
The main reason I'm holding out on criticism of these guys is that 2-3 months ago, I said our reasons for success this season went as follows: 1. Carlos Quentin 2. Carlos Quentin 3. Carlos Quentin 4. Carlos Quentin 5. Carlos Quentin 6. Alex Rios 7. Carlos Quentin 8. Gordon Beckham Out of about my top 10 reasons for offensive success this season, 8 or so have been bad. Now, if we were counting on something insane, like Mark Kotsay being the key to the offense, that'd be one thing, but frankly, a lot of the guys we asked to be workable pieces have actually been workable pieces so far. It's been the guys that no one in their right mind wanted to dump for nothing prior to the season failing that has really murdered us this year. Now, if you're going to blame KW for not dumping Beckham and Quentin in the offseason and replacing them with, I dunno, Jermaine Dye and Placido Polonco, well, I'd love to see where anyone thought that was a good idea.- Ozzie and KW - what will happen?
Can I bump this thread in September after I see how this year's selling and replacing has gone?- Catch All Anything Thread
Who in the world would pay that much money for a crappy diploma from that school? Dude, just for allowing me to read that last line I'll chip in $10. Take donations somewhere.- The Soxtalk Committee on Closing
QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) This season is a write-off, trade Thornton and/or Santos, who have substantial trade value. Keep Putz and Jenks, who dont, to mop-up this season, maybe compete for the rebuilding 2011 and move on. Given we are unfortunately going into a 1-2 year rebuilding phase, closer is not a priority... Why would you trade the 2 guys who will actually be here next year and try to rebuild by keeping the 2 guys who won't be here next year?- A Cold Weather Super Bowl!
QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 28, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) They could always try to balance the playing field by having a guest referee by the name of Joe West. "The call is tails" "I said Heads!" "The call is tails!!!"- NBA playoffs thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 28, 2010 -> 06:06 AM) Didn't Frank lose a lot of money at one point gambling, and JR bailed him out? We never got all of the details for obvious reasons, but I got the impression that JR bailed him out financially more than once. KW sort of alluded to that stuff in his rant after 2005 when we let Frank walk.- The Soxtalk Committee on Closing
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 27, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) If he was throwing the ball well he would be getting the job done. That is an oxymoron Actually, I agree he's throwing the ball well also. He's popping mid 90's up to 97-98 on the radar gun. The problem is, no matter how well he's throwing, he's pitching like sh*t.- Chicago Trip
Restaurant.com has an 80% off gift certificate deal going right now.- Apple: 10 Employee Suicides THIS YEAR
QUOTE (Tex @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:17 AM) Yet we complain about too much government regulation . . . Of Business, Tex, of Business. Businesses should have every right to work employees to the point that they commit suicide.- Deal possibly reached to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 28, 2010 -> 07:38 AM) They don't hate gay people, Balta, they just want more reviews! And reviews of reviews! We can never be too careful about letting the insidious gays into the military, you know. Look what it has done to other countries. I didn't say they hated Gay People only, I said they hated all of the troops. Because that would have been the applied standard in 2008 if there had been a strong effort to shoot down a defense department funding bill.- 2010 Cubs Thread
Is Ted Lilly not even standing on the mound?- Joe West has an agenda
QUOTE (WCSox @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) If an organization truly felt and had evidence that an umpire was repeatedly biasing calls again them and MLB was ignoring their accusations, it would be a possibility. One game out of 162 is a small price to pay for forcing a corrupt umpire out of the game. Depends on if you're in a pennant race or not. And you'd have about 30,000 angry fans to deal with somehwo.- 5/27 GT: Sox @ Tampa Bay - 6:10pm CDT
Cooper says that Santos's back is acting up on him (that's why he didn't pitch yesterday). Thornton, Jenks, Putz, Linebrink are the available bullpen today for now.- The environment thread

QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) True, but you don't often see teams actually make the postseason and have such severe chemistry issues as that team did (ie: Swisher complaining about being benched in the postseason). And yet Griffey seemed to love that clubhouse. Maybe they let him sleep in? - Peavy expresses concern about tired arm
