  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Hell no to any temporary one year fixes that will cost us any resources. I agree. Unless Q and Beckham start rolling, it makes no sense to try to play for this season.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) Viciedo better not sniff Chicago. He needs to be in AAA all year. If he keeps hitting, why would we be angry about a September callup?

Please don't spoil it, I'm not going until I can have popcorn and drink through a straw, but I'd love iron man opinions
  4. And there they go. Funny story. Watching the White Sox's hitters face a lefty with a changeup...much more painful.
  5. Good lord, he's simply a douchebag. I could understand him wanting the show back, but come on dude, you don't have to be a douche.
  6. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 7, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) Thought perhaps his doctor's office got some new magazines that caught his attention. I went straight for the one labeled "Perfect".
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) When I first saw the numbers that there were tons of new jobs, but UE went up I thought "huh?". BUt then I saw on HUffPo: "As More Head Back Into Hunt For Work". That makes sense. This is why the U3 number is just a bad number.
  8. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 7, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) Unemployment rate is up to 9.9% BUT 290,000 new jobs in April! Wow, that is actually a good number.
  9. I guess the question is...what is Tex doing that brings him to baseball articles from Time Magazine in 2007?
  10. Get your "I survived the crash of 2:45 p.m." shirts
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) Aren't there any controls in place to prevent such a thing from happening more often? Something is fishy here. There are supposed to be "Curbs" that kick in, designed after the automated sell-off effect was discovered dramatically in 1987. I think this burp happened so fast that they couldn't get triggered.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) No kidding. We get rid of two power guys in the lineup this past off season and we're supposed to be content with replacing them with one? The other replacement power guy was supposed to be Carlos Quentin, but no one seems to know what happened to him.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 6, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I don't know about that. We could still use one of them as a DH with Jones in the OF. Why do people keep thinking he'll stay healthy in the OF?
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Damn. I wish I bought 10K shares at the moment it went to .41. I'll bet there's going to be more than a few fraud investigations coming out of whatever happened today. Edit: and I have a feeling GS just made a fortune.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 6, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Did I just read somewhere that Accenture fell from $43 ish a share to $.04? I think it was back up to $41 by closing though, but thats crazy if true. Yes.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 6, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Can someone with a little experience explain the P & G thing? CNN glossed over it because it wouldn't be as scary. It sounded like the P & G stock fell (falsely?) a ton and it triggered a lot of computer programs to sell off. That's basically a very good summary of it. Somehow, there was a faulty price processed for P & G. Lots of electronic systems have settings that say "sell if it gets to this price". A faulty low price would trigger all of those sell orders. Then, once people realized something was wrong, people would go in and start buying.
  17. Interesting and likely deliberate way of phrasing that.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) What the heck just happened to the DJIA? Greece.
