Engel to IL (Again), Foster down, Burr/Wright Up. Burdi DFA

Considering that their average first round pick over that entire decade is right around the 8th pick, one would certainly hope so. -
I’m not up with the literature on this but rapidly found writing suggesting that runs saved by shifting can be about 50 between the best and worst positioned team. https://sportsinfosolutionsblog.com/2019/04/01/what-is-team-shift-runs-saved/ https://sportsinfosolutionsblog.com/2020/03/24/what-to-expect-now-that-shifts-are-included-in-defensive-runs-saved/

Of course they do. He’s played there what, 5 games in his career? -

Vaughn going to DH or the bench and Goodwin playing RF seems so much like exactly what I'd expect from LaRussa that I don't feel suspicious at all. -

2003 Marlins were 42-25 in the second half, 13-15 in August, 18-8 in September. I'm ok with August doldrums and that type of performance in September, fair?
-
Ok, the 2010 Giants were 13-15 in August and 18-8 in September. The 2017 Yankees were 14-15 in August and 20-8 in September. I'd be far more confident going into the playoffs if we could put up a .650 winning percentage in September?
-
Give an example then? Please, I can't think of one.
-
I can think of veteran teams in sports that say "We can flip the switch towards the end of the season and turn things on when we need to". I'm not sure I can immediately think of a young team doing the same.
-
Torres, Sanchez, Urshela, Cole, Montgomery, German, Rizzo, Chapman, Frazier, Kluber, Andujar. Some of them are always injured...but yeah, that's pretty much a triage ward.
-
Well...one feature to the playoffs is that a lot of games fall into the category you just labeled "coin flip games". Because they're playoff games, the other team never gives up, and they will fight all the way through the last pitch of the last inning. The other way to think of games like the ones we just went through are "playoff atmosphere" games, and at some level - the Yankees had a serious advantage on that.

8/14 Sox vs Yankees - 6:10 CT first pitch

I still don’t know why he was pitching in the first place! -

Well right now the Rays bullpen has an ERA of 3 and the White Sox’s pen has an ERa of 4. So yeah the white Sox have talent, but the Rays pen has been as good as anyone in baseball. -

Seriously? After that debacle on Thursday they’re going to not pitch Hendriks? -
I've missed that pitch. And a second that inning just to make the point.

Trevor Bauer receives 2 YEAR suspension from MLB
Balta1701 replied to Kyyle23's topic in The Diamond Club
I’ve actually seen this victim and it’s not from me looking. I go to threads about Trevor Bauer on Twitter because I want updates about whether the Dodgers will have him pitching for them, and TMZ style shots of them from Pasadena show up. I don’t think she wants Twitter telling me about her sexual preferences just because I am checking to see if he’s been suspended for longer. -
One problem with surprising Rodon with an IL trip…Rodon has to be in on it. You can’t hypnotize him to convince him he has shoulder soreness.

Notice how the first court order when unnoticed for a year? The victim in this case won’t want that publicity and I wouldn’t blame her, and the police won’t be able to turn this into charges without her active participation. She should just take the money and let MLB suspend him for a year or whatever they are going to do, rather than deal with public harassment. -
If this was planned, you don’t wind up with a panicked Reynaldo Lopez 3 inning start with only about 30 minutes of notice for him. You have him complain about soreness on his throwing day so you can at least have Lopez (or Jimmy) be prepared for the spot start.

He’s rich. He just has to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome while signing the checks. -
Robertson was 34/41 in 2015, his first year with the White Sox. For 7 blown saves that year. He was 37/44 in 2016, for 7 blown saves. So yes, he always blew 6 saves with the white Sox.

Well then. I apologize to Mr Hahn for thinking this could have been a signing that would work. -

Sox vs. Yankees 6:15pm CDT - In Iowa - on FOX
Balta1701 replied to knightni's topic in 2021 Season in Review
Ironically, Collins might have played a role there. NY Had other, right handed relievers they could have gone to - most notably Loaisiga. They chose to go with Britton, a lefty - knowing that the White Sox wouldn't pinch hit Collins for Zavala against a lefty. That set up Anderson facing a lefty.
