  1. Often enough that Rick Hahn went on the radio and complained about how tired he was of hearing people throwing "The Money will be Spent" back at him on Twitter.
  2. While that is true, the #2 and #3 OFs on that list are guys who you'd be surprised if they weren't on the IL a couple times this season based on their previous histories.
  3. One thing that this thread allowed me to do is actually keep track of games where Tony LaRussa did something specific that caused a blowup. 1-Apr Failing to make review time window, Leury starts opening day, no pinch hitter for him late. 3-Apr Bullpen Usage - Bummer never used, Marshall allowed to blow game in the 9th. 4-Apr Bullpen usage - Hendriks not used in the 9th, Ruiz and Foster blow it. *Several times could have PH for Leury or Hamilton, not done 7-Apr Bullpen usage - Foster comes in with Bummer and Hendriks needing work, gives up 5 runs. 11-Apr Couple of poorly thought out bunts, pinch running for Mercedes early left no backup Ofs 13-Apr Williams hits 5th, Lamb hits 7th, Mercedes benched against Bieber. Could have kept Hendriks out to start the 10th. 27-Apr Attempts to kill Lucas Giolito. "We were looking for a single there." Insists postgame that he was awake. 5-May Messes up double-switch, runs team out of 10th inning, rulebook read to him by reporter. Bolded are games where managerial decisions are particularly troublesome. Numerous other games - Vaughn, Madrigal being benched for Leury, Hamilton, and Williams. Lack of offdays for Abreu, Eaton. There's at least 8 games so far this season where the manager has been a contributing factor in a loss, without counting guys that he chose to bench on the list more than once. Changing to a competent manager doesn't turn all of those into wins - maybe a better lineup still loses to Bieber as Cleveland's bullpen is outpitching us, maybe someone still gives up runs out of the bullpen, etc. But there's an awful lot of high-leverage events so far this season where people have been saying "the Manager contributed to a bad thing happening".
  4. This is literally a thread on the manager. If you would like to create a thread saying "The hitting coach is not preparing these guys well!", I guarantee it would not be the first such thread in White Sox history. "The White Sox have other problems" does not mean that in a thread created to talk about the brand new and controversial manager we should ignore the decisions of the manager.
  5. Before saying the Chicago media is too tough, let’s note that this week there were two articles about grumbling in the locker room, and they were hosted by ESPN and The Athletic. The local press stayed out of that. The guy reading him the rule book yesterday, also the Athletic.
  6. I find these two opinions to contrast.
  7. One of the posts in the game thread says that the assistant coaches didn’t know that rule either, they just tried to point out that the double switch would have the pitcher running and Tony told them to shut it.
  8. Only in minor league roster so far.
  9. Apparently LaRussa tersely told his staff he was doing exactly what he wanted at some point in there.
  10. Just remember - it may not be Rick Hahn making personnel decisions anymore.
  11. I would think they would be saying “you know Hendricks doesn’t have to run here” and not “Hendricks is slotted to run” if they knew the rule, but that’s JMO.
  12. But not if Justice Sotomayor orders them back to work again.
  13. As far as I can tell, that means: None of the staff knew that rule addendum. LaRussa already had told them to shut up so it wouldn’t have mattered if they did.
  14. I'll believe there's a full 2022 season when there's a CBA.
  15. You can't sort by composition using a sieve, only by grain size. Already sieved, now separating minerals.
  16. Well, I'm glad I spent the afternoon using a microscope and tweezers to separate grains of sand.
  17. Ok I will admit it I don’t understand what you are saying here. The Bears traded their 2021 first round pick and their 2022 first round pick (plus scraps and swaps) to get Fields. To me it seems like saying they traded two first rounders for this player (or two first round picks for the #11 pick) is the most accurate and clear way to say it.
  18. What happens if they get a top 4 pick, is Orlando just out of luck or does that pick transfer delay to 2025?
  19. Honestly, you figure out that problem when it actually becomes a problem. Having too many bats has been a lifesaver early this season. See if Yermin can keep up hitting for the year, see if Vaughn can handle LF without being benched, see if Eloy comes back healthy, see if Abreu stays healthy, see if there is no lockout.
  20. Unless we've somehow found a really good player for RF, I don't see much use in acquiring a player who can't cover CF for a while. Polanco's had 5 starts at CF in his whole career.
