I hope it ages terribly and every FA signing is a home run (after all, we all want the White Sox to succeed)...but obviously there’s no baseball games won in December. Fwiw, Getting to the postseason in one of the next two seasons would be defined as success to me.

Why would anyone try to be a fake insider? That seems like the most futile thing I’ve ever heard.
-
Whatever the Sox do, I really hope they don’t trade Madrigal. Want to see him with a full two seasons at the big league level, think he’s going to be really solid.

Keuchel to Sox, 3 years, 55.55 million; 4th year team option

Depends what you mean by “hit”. I don’t think we can expect these types of acquisitions to meaningfully outperform (maybe with the exception of Mazara who has upside). We would be happy if Kuechel/Gio/Grandal gives us 80-100% of the value of their contract imo. -

I’ve hated on Hahn as much as anyone but good work getting this done. It would’ve been ok had they overpaid but it appears they didn’t. -
Not to be morbid but JR may not be alive in 2026

Good deal for the White Sox. Little downside and nice upside. I’m a fan.

They’re no longer convincing that they’re trying to win as a top priority. Priorities 1-5 are maximizing profits while providing a glimmer of hope. You can’t really be upset about this signing but nobody is excited about it.

ESPN with a sobering summary of the decade. Attribute what you want to Hahn vs Kenny/Jerry but a lot of it clearly falls on him. ”It was a terrible decade for the White Sox. They never made the postseason. Only two teams won fewer games. They haven't finished above .500 since 2012. The front office spent some money in free agency but showed no creativity compared to small-market franchises like the Rays and A's. They haven't drafted well for two decades -- their only first-round picks in the past 20 years to earn 10 WAR in the majors have been Chris Sale, Gio Gonzalez (who was traded as a minor leaguer) and Tim Anderson.”

Thank you for speaking some truth. People here act like we’re terrible fans and delusional if we criticize Hahn and aren’t content with just the young core of players.

FFS, The post very clearly states we’re talking about his performance up until now and not the future. Yes, anything can happen in the future, but have a reality check in terms of where we’re at right now and how far away from contention it is.

We’re so far from making the playoffs it’s not even funny. Do you really believe it’s an A+? If not, I applaud your dry sense of humor.

While it’s obvious that Hahn has come up woefully short, it’s interesting to think about WHY. in my opinion there’s three major roles of his job in free agency. Identify, recruit, and execute. It’s difficult to tell which have been the major problems. -Outside of identifying obvious stars, we know he hasn’t identified many successful buy low candidates. So in terms of the latter I think he’s failed. -Recruiting: It’s possible he’s done ok here. We heard Machado was interested, he landed Grandal, etc. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here. -Execution: here’s where the major failure seems to lie. Whether it’s coming up one inch short or one mile, he seems to fail over and over. Maybe we have failed to “overpay” in order to get the job done. We don’t know, but this is a performance based job and he’s not gotten the job done. What do you all think? Which areas has Hahn come up short on? Other ones that I’m missing such as managing expectations?

Even Lisle wasn’t worth hiring it reflects poorly that he was hired in the first place. If he was worth hiring it looks bad as they screwed it up. This organization feels like it’s run out of the back of a garage in Melrose Park.

Guys they don’t actually want to land these guys.

Maybe Tom Selleck tweeting from a Tokyo hotel room!

@MrWhiteSox #WhiteSox close to the finish line of a potential 3 team trade involving the #RedSox and another probably another troll account, take it fwiw

I thought the twitter account was pasted in...didn’t intend it to be a non obvious troll

“I’m hearing per a source that the #WhiteSox and #RedSox have agreed in principle to a trade involving SP David Price, others. Haven’t heard back on which Boston position player(s) Chicago will receive!”
-
I would feel a lot more confident about potential trades if we had a good front office.
-
The epiphany is...they aren’t trying to win period! Mint $, pretend to try (like the cheapskate who reaches for his wallet and pretends he’s willing to pay), and keep going.
-
This is exactly the kind of deal we should expect. Hahn and company have shown they either won’t or can’t land top talent. The result is continuing to collect blah players. Keep the fans just happy enough to think there’s a chance of hope one day. SSDD.

I’m not going to get worked up until I see the return. Possible it could be a buy low situation.

Wilson is going to be a really solid 2b in the big leagues imo
