Benintendi is such a bum. Can you believe we will have to ride out five terrible years?

I’ve never watched a team I’ve been so sure was going to keep losing since those 90s teams that used to go die on those west coast trips

Elvis is injured, looks like an oblique.

There is just no life in this team

Most agonizing seasons for me: 2022 and 2023 by far - one long nightmare than never seems to end 2003- leading much of the way and then Torii Hunter mowing over Josh Paul to seal it and the Twins Twinballed us with their stupid cheaterdome. 2001 David Wells / Sirotkagate / Frank injures triceps in April, 8-19 start, very similar feeling to this exhausting disaster. 2016 (he who shall not be named and who he was acquired for) My favorite team is still the 2000 team, even over 2005. Sure 2005 was otherworldly and doesn’t seem real in some ways, and was a dream come true. I will cherish it forever. The 2000 felt like just my team - a bunch of cast offs who were perennial also rans to the Cleveland juggernaut finally punching back in the mouth and drawing blood and kicking ass. I remember the Tigers brawl game and then them winning 7 road games in a row on like Herbert Perry’s back. Jose Valentin having the luckiest roid season ever. James Baldwin opening the season 7-0 basically with so much offense he couldn’t lose. 10-2 Cal Eldred. It was a team absolutely playing above its head but they were so lovable and stupid lucky. We all knew they were gonna get killed in the playoffs but it was so nice to finally win that division.

I don’t even know. I really like Vaughn, and he literally just turned 25. But I wonder if he has enough power in his bat to be enough at that position- where you absolutely have to have power. We don’t need 25 home runs and 30 doubles and 40 walks and a .250 average. We need at .270/.870 hitter who is going to hit 35-40 bombs reliably. Can he become that guy? I want him to.

I just had a twilight zone moment where I realized Jerry might just kick Rick upstairs and reinstate Kenny.

I get it Pedro. I guess 94 pitches and 7 ER in 4.1 is just not enough information to yank a pitcher.

Grifol isn’t even in a hurry to get him out of this game.

That was a batting practice fastball.

Benintendi is such a bust.

Anderson seems like he’s really slumping, more than a usual cold spell. I wonder if his babip magic is finally catching up with him.

The truly agonizing thing about these AAAA types we have been forced to stomach at various times over the past 30 years is that they are so damned close to being actually passable major leaguers that sometimes if you squint you can see it (IE Sheets, Alberto, Leury, Palka). We’ve been so conditioned to root for bums that you can almost see that the bums might be good. Kinda. Maybe.

Whose fault was that?

Opening up my mind to giving the season a clean slate
Greg Hibbard replied to Richie's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the only way to change your perspective on the season is hope the rest of the division keeps getting worse than we expected, and the Sox hit one of those lucky health streaks in Sept-Oct where everyone’s actually healthy after the win the division with 81 wins. Then maybe they get hot and give it a ride. -
And That's a White Sox 4-2 Winner !

Good game. We should pound the Royals. I hope they can win the next 2. -
Giolito was incredible for those three batters.

Man when Luis is in “nintendo numbers” mode, it really is a sight.

Wow, I picked an amazing game to miss entirely due to a work conflict ??? -
Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
Greg Hibbard replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And the problem is that it worked once because they backed into a championship. It’s like they are the Beverly hillbillies of baseball - they accidentally struck gold in their backyard and got rich, but have no clue they have no clue about anything. -

Since 2000, the only time the Sox seem to assemble a winning pitching group is when the scrap heap guys or longshot picks they get for their rotation actually work out, or when longtime mediocre pitchers have a fluke good year or half year. It literally never seems to be FA acquisitions with proven high quality ML talent. -
?? THE ELVIS ANDRUS THREAD OF OPS INFAMY ??
Greg Hibbard replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was very positive while active on this board from 2005-2011, then took about a 6 year break from this site and the White Sox. I started back in in late 2017 and early 2018 and bought everything hook line and sinker with the current plan. Things have definitely changed this year. I’m definitely using the board somewhat as an outlet for my negative feelings as they occur. It’s my way of coping, frankly. Andrus is the current posterchild for this “right approach” / “grinderball” veteran this organization has fallen in love with over the past 20 years. A grindy vet who doesn’t cost anything and the org hopes to scrap heap into an above market value acquisition. Winning the market, unfortunately, usually means you’re a loser in baseball. For those confused by my flip flopping let me clarify - I thought Andrus was a great signing but through 100 PAs he could have used a spell on the bench - a spell he has not gotten. For any game. Yes, we have to throw someone out there, but this guy who is clearly overcooked needs a reset . Do I hope he turns it around? Sure. Do I hope the Sox win with him? Of course. I don’t see it this season. My read is we should all be out, it was too big of a hole to dig. I would LOVE it if I’m wrong about this. However, if I’m right, I hope this is a historically bad season that shines a light on how absolutely awful this approach is - and has been - organizationally, one that has existed for the better part of 23 years of watching this team flounder around this silly concept. TL;DR: I hit a breaking point. -

Elvis’ OPS has skyrocketed to .555! Can he maintain it above the Bradley line? Time will tell, because now he’s certainly playing all 162 after his breakout performance last night!
