QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) Apparently, The Social Network is getting all kind of rave reviews like Oscar-winning raves. Looking forward to this one. I'm sure it's good, but it's not something I am raring to see. Definitely something I can wait to see at home.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) The Ladykillers was a remake. Oh yeah, I remember looking that up when I watched the new one on TV a few months ago. Either way, True Grit isn't a movie that really needs to be remade. I doubt the original Ladykillers was nearly as good as True Grit.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) Most lists I see have some combination of: Portland, Charlotte, Nashville, Las Vegas, San Antonio/McAllen, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque/Santa Fe, and San Juan PR. New Orleans is still a disaster and a shrunken city, I don't see them being viable. Nashville is Memphis but with money and no Cardinals nearby, so Nashville wins out there. Louisville is very near Cincy. And I hadn't heard OKC before for baseball, that might be interesting. I was only thinking of populous cities not in California or Texas. The point is that there ought to be plenty of options.

Konerko to address free agency before TH game
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) If Ozzie returning brings back Konerko, I'm okay with that. I'd like to see a two or three year deal for him, but if Ozzie isn't extended I wonder of Konerko would opt for just a one year contract. Konerko isn't good enough to decide who manages him. I'm not saying that that is the case, just theoretically.

Ozzie and the staff will be back for 2011
There's a lot of offseason to get through, so I'll reserve my final decision until much later, but I'm seriously considering not attending or watching any games next season.

Gordo's hand improving, hopes to return
I don't see any point in returning this season.

Garcia vs. Pena for 2011 rotation
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) that's why i said i would rather, rather than it will be likely. would you want garcia or pena as your fifth starter, both guys who has shown poor peripherals this season, and will probably get you an ERA closer to 5.00, or a younger guy in Torres who has better chance to succeed than both of those guys going forward? Torres has been in Triple A for 3 years now, and has performed very well the last 2 seasons, i think it would be fair to at least give him a shot in the big leagues. If you want a guy to put up an ERA closer to 5.00, you might want Garcia or Peña. If you want a guy to put up an ERA over 5.00, you're gonna want Torres.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) What city is out there hunting for an MLB Team? I think part of it is that those cities might have a shot at supporting a team, but neither one of them has had the facilities to do so. I'm not sure which cities are looking for teams, but there are some pretty populous areas out there with no teams. Off of the top of my head, there's New Orleans, Charlotte, Portland, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Nashville, Louisville, and Las Vegas.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 09:09 AM) yeah, but I understand what MM is saying. You dont consider a book translation as a remake, True Grit is a remade John Wayne movie. That isnt the Coen Brothers style normally. However, given their body of work I am willing to say that this will be worth it. Yes, that's what I meant. And yes again, I'm sure it will be worth seeing. I just read into it, and they want to do basically the same thing they did with NCFOM (a direct translation from book to screen). The only thing is that, according to Wikipedia, there are not many differences between the novel and the original film. I just don't see the point.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 08:20 AM) New Coen Brothers movie, their first movie with Jeff Bridges since The Big Lebowski They're going to remake a movie? That doesn't seem like them. I wonder why they would remake a classic like True Grit, instead of a movie that had potential it didn't reach.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) Heavyweights ("Attention campers: lunch has been canceled today due to lack of hustle... deal with it") Tommy Boy Come here you devil log! QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 06:52 AM) The Simpsons episode when he gains weight to become "disabled". "Hey fatty, I got a move for you. A Fridge Too Far!" I wash myself with a rag on a stick. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, use pop tarts. Instead of chewing gum, chew bacon. You can brush your teeth with milkshakes. Hey, did you go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College, too?

Ozzie and the staff will be back for 2011
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) I'm actually really unmotivated to root for this team next year.It feels like a Lovie Smith lameduck type of deal. I hear that. No accountability at all. Ozzie has done everything in his power to be fired/allowed to talk to other teams, and nothing will change.

Garcia vs. Pena for 2011 rotation
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) What explanation? Garcia had a stiff back and missed a couple starts. Overall he has done as good as any other and when the rest of the staff was sucking earlier in the season Garcia was the one who saved us. He was the 5th starter and did better then most 5th starters in the league. Remember his last game he went 6 solid innings and gave up one run. He has a winning record. I am not sure who you are trying to compare Freddie Garcia too I'm not comparing him to anybody. I'm saying he ran out of gas, which was to be expected with the lack of work he's had in the last couple of years.

Most quotable tv show/movie
I quote movies and TV shows all of the time. No matter what conversation I'm in, I can always think of a quote that applies to the situation. Therefore, I'm not even going to start listing off the shows and movies I quote constantly.

Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) The ironic part is that if the US as a whole starts to feel this way, the IOC will fall apart. The US is by far the biggest benefactor to them, not only directly, but we also pay the biggest media money to see the Olympics. I say "f*** it" and we make them understand they need us. Forming a worldwide plot to vote Chicago (the US) out first should piss everyone off. They already hate us, so f***ing up the Olympics money stream won't make a difference in that regard, but it'll show the rest of the world that we're not going to take their bulls***. You want our money, but you don't want us. Enjoy the ratings you'll see out of Bulgaria and Guatemala.
