  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) Who else would hit? Anyone.
  2. How can he leave Wise in here?
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) This is what happens when you can not hit or field. Sadly I think it is time for Walker's name to come up again in conversation. I would bet any amount of hypothetical money that he will not lose his job this season. Any amount.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Jonah Hill is new on my list of "People I would like to punch in the face for no reason". I'm about a year ahead of you on that one.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) Or drivers should learn that waiting a few extra seconds to pass someone on a bike doing 15mph isn't going to make them an hour late for something. Oh, come on. You know how dangerous it is to have to go around a cyclist who is 5 feet away from the parked cars when there is a constant stream of traffic coming in the opposite direction?
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) I love the emotional rollercoaster of this game. Scratch that--roller coaster implies ups and down. This is a swan dive off a large cliff. The Giant Drop?
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Coming back to somehow win this would be just absolutely phenomenal. Just do it guys, for the sanity of all of us. And crushing if (ha, if) we don't.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) by injured, you mean not physically, right? Emotionally.
  9. Get badly injured, Dotel. Or get traded. Either way, get badly injured in the near future.
  10. I haven't posted in a game thread once this year, but I just have to post. First of all, congratulations to Mark Buehrle. This is just fantastic. But, how the f*** do we get embarrassed after such a monumental achievement? Only the White Sox are capable of such horses*** play in this type of situation. The last time I've gone from being as happy as I was to this pissed off was in game 2 of the World Series after Jenks blew the save. Dotel sucks, by the way. Podsednik is a f***ing joke in the outfield still. He looked like a retarded 7-year-old girl playing softball out there. And Getz, what the f*** were you doing?
  11. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Normally I would be totally against this move, but we desperately need a lefty in the pen. Thornton will probably be missing for a couple games pretty soon. The problem is, I am sure they will keep Clayton "The Mask" Richard in the pen even after Thornton's wife has his kid. ?
  12. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) Dwayne Wise is the 2009 version of Andy Gonzalez from 2007...a garbage player who somehow manages to make it on the roster all year batting less than .200. At least...that's what I think his name was...he was so awful I tried to block that memory from my mind.... There seems to be at least one player a year that fits that description, actually. Timo Perez is an example from 2005.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) Perhaps because it was public and in the dugout on camera, instead of behind closed doors? Ozzie is the last guy to talk about airing s*** in public. He might not do it in the dugout, but he has said some stuff in post-game interviews. Talking about how Brandon McCarthy picked the wrong guy to be friends with is one example. I do believe that Alexei Ramirez is Hispanic, whereas AJ Pierzynski is Caucasian, though. I'm not saying. I'm just saying.
  14. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) you must suck at google No, I found out that he was a Rockies player, but I still had no idea who he was. Often times I will find out that ___ player is on ___ team, and then I'll realize I know of him. With this guy, not so much.
  15. QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) It's safer for cyclists to use sidewalks, especially if those sidewalks are bigger then normal. True, it is law for them not too. That I do not understand. What is more dangerous, a sidewalk of people walking with a few bicycles, or a road of people on bicycles with cars and trucks? I've ridden on the riverwalk in the Fox Valley area and it's so easy to tell pedestrians "comin' up behind you!" and they can accordingly give you space. Cyclists on the road are not so fortunate. The cars on the road might not necessarily be in a hurry, but the last thing those cars on the road want to see is a cyclists swerve and fall into or in front of them while driving. The fact that you have to pass the cyclists makes it that much more dangerous. Normally when I'm passing a cyclists I like to yield them plenty of room for error just in case. That's tough to do sometimes because then you must temporarily take up a portion of the left lane or the oncoming traffic lane... another situation most drivers want nothing to do with. Law is law and it should be followed, but I would not be opposed to changing the law so it's not illegal for cyclists to be on the sidewalks. There are a ton of cyclists here in Idaho Falls... most of them just use the sidewalk. We have nice sized sidewalks here, no one seems to get in trouble for using them (because everyone does), and most important no one gets stressed out or gets put into unnecessarily dangerous predicaments. That's what I do, and that's the main problem. Cyclists shouldn't be allowed on the street if there is only one lane in each direction.
  16. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) From the trib (and the reason that the Sox probably got Kotsay): Who the f*** is Seth Smith? (Note: I did google him, but I still have no clue who he is.)
  17. The more I think about it, the less I want Kotsay on the major league team. If he's up here, and he's deteriorated as badly as people say in the outfield, then Ozzie will surely play him out there way too much. I'd rather just not give him the option.
  18. Kotsay isn't an OF anymore? Man, the last I remember of him was that he was a great CF. When I first heard this, I thought it was an incredible trade, but not so much if he can't even play the OF. I'm sort of sad that Anderson has to go to the Red Sox, as I now have to hate him. If there's a team out there that can tap into any offensive potential, it's the Red Sox or Rangers. That makes me happy for him.
  19. Hey Buddy, got any gum?
  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Jeter, Ripken Jr etc (good leaders) do not go that route. I think it's classless. Didn't Ripken supposedly travel separately from the rest of the team, and even occasionally stayed in different hotels? I'm not sure he's the guy I'd use as an example.
  21. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) Is that English? I said it that way, instead of adding a "what" to the front of it, to emphasize the fact that it seemed absurd to me.
  22. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) Tyler Flowers can't come soon enough. AJ's act is getting old. The f***?
  23. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) Agreed. As a society we should be using him as an example of leading a life by the rules. Show kids that no matter what good they may do, they can undo it by a stupid choice. And to kind of agree with some that his accomplishment should be recognized, go ahead, put in a plaque that reads he would have been enshrined here, but he is banned. Recognize the record holder and hold him up as an example of the integrity of the game. By allowing him back in we are telling kids there are two sets of rules in society. Become famous enough and you can piss on everyone. As SS said Bulls***. But, that is true.
  24. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) What about Shoeless Joe? If Petey gets back in, then he should as well. Yeah, if you're going to lift a lifetime ban on a guy who's only been banned a couple dozen years, then you should sure as hell lift the lifetime ban of a guy whose lifetime has already passed.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 01:42 AM) Philosophies that are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I'll take KW any day of the week. And a ring.
