What does FOB stand for? Also, is/was anyone on this site a SEAL? I know the chances are slim, but you never know. Does anyone know one personally?

Tour de France Thread
The hate for Armstrong, at least in my view, is that he's sanctified for surviving cancer. It's a great feat, no doubt, but the man left his wife (who stood by him throughout his battle), and then he just dumped her for that singer as soon as he got famous. He's also a steroid user (but they all are in cycling, so that doesn't really matter). Surviving cancer doesn't make you a good person.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 06:40 AM) This just in: The Phillies can hit. They've now got FOUR guys with 20 or more homers before the all-star break. That's only happened one time in league history (2000 Toronto Blue Jays). I did not expect the last sentence to end that way.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 11:09 PM) Hamilton's a different case. He's a feel good story that the fans clinged onto. If Hill was having a much better year than Kinsler than he'd have my vote. But they're having similar years, where the only big difference is batting average. But there is a difference, and it's supposed to be the guy having the better year that goes. Your argument is the reason why so many undeserving guys become all-stars each year. I'll put ____ into the ASG because he's normally better than ____, even though he statistically isn't this year. Hill has the better numbers, no matter how marginal, he should be the all-star.

Films Thread
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) I really enjoyed it the first time I saw it. For some reason, it came accross as far fetched and really, really silly the second time. I've never done a 180 on a film like that. Oh yes, it was definitely out there. I think it was meant that way to kind of show how the events unfolded in the eyes of the child (and the stories he was told by his mother and father).

How often do you clip your fingernails?
QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Biters? Is there anything better than suddenly finding a longish nail that somehow was overlooked? It sounds weird, but that is one of the better little joys in life.

How often do you clip your fingernails?
I don't think I've ever cut my fingernails. I've bitten them for as long as I can remember, but hardly ever to the point where they hurt. The way I see it, most guys bite their fingernails.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) It's a weak argument but Hill also has around 40 more AB's...Hill's having a career year yeah. But, give me Kinsler any day of the week. The ASG is supposed to be the best players from the current year. Your argument is basically the reason why guys like Hamilton get elected to the game. Give me Hamilton over _____ any day of the week (except for the time between opening day and today).

Life Is Beautiful was very good, but extremely depressing.

2009 AL Cy Young Race
Take Wakefield off of that list immediately. There is absolutely no reason to consider him as a Cy Young contender.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 11:22 PM) Another solid win and pitching was good again! Alexei really starting to hit, love to see him take it the opposite way every now and then, keep the pitchers honest. Box score on MLB.com had attendance as 26,772, considering how crappy the weather was all day today, that's a solid number I think that's the effect that Beckham has had on the team since being called up. I'm pretty sure I've noticed a lot of the other players swinging more for doubles and singles, along with going to the opposite field, in recent weeks.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) Brandon allen for tony pena (reliever) from the diamondbacks He said trades, though. I wasn't sure if something got past me. Kap, I also liked the feature.

Michael Jackson still dead.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) If he had, would we necessarily know about it? Well, I've heard that he liked to be peed on, so I would hope I'd also hear about him molesting kids.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) When we have a few hundred posters on in a couple concentrated topics, it does. It was turned off again because of the trades and the volume it generated. Trades? Did I miss one?

Andy Gonzalez Back in the Bigs!!!!!!!
If you thought the name of this thread was hard to believe, imagine this title: Andy Gonzalez takes the roster spot of Hanley Ramirez.

Michael Jackson still dead.
Someone mentioned Hitler a page ago. Hitler was probably the most evil person in the history of the world, but at least he didn't molest children.

Grief over celebrity deaths
QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) The only time I got close to crying over a celebrity death was when Stiv Bator(s) died. He had such a HUGE influence on me musically (and style of dress) that it was a pretty harsh blow. In the years after though I have also come to find that he was actually one hell of a person also. You won't find a bad thing written about him anywhere. It just seems such a huge shame that the guy is gone, and that he died in such a pointless way. Kid, I don't think I've ever heard of a single person whose name you mentioned on this site.

The necessary "HELL YES!"/Hawk poll
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:03 AM) I like it, but in moderation. It should be reserved for really great moments. Caught me off guard the first time. Completely agreed.

Grief over celebrity deaths
I was too young to even know about Henson passing, but I'm sure that would have been rough for me. I remember being pretty depressed about Mr. Rogers and Charles Schulz passing, so Henson would've likely been similar. I think Dick Van Dyke going would really put me down, too.

White Sox Acquire RP Tony Pena from ARI for Brandon Allen
Whoa, how good is this guy? I've never even heard of him, and I thought Allen was supposed to be one of our bigger prospects. I just looked him up, and his stats are mediocre at best and he's 27. I'm sure I missed an explanation somewhere in this thread, but could someone copy and paste it for me?

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) They need to start using factions more Those were the good days, now it seems there is never a good strong one anymore The last good stable was the King's Court. I think that's what it was called a few years ago with Booker T, Finlay, Regal, and whatever Booker's wife's name is. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) after watching last night, i think Million Dollar Man is the perfect manager for Legacy. He'd be a great manager, which means they won't use him.

Films Thread
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) The first two prequels did suck, but the 3rd one was really good. My favorite of all of them is probably Empire Strikes Back. Everyone's favorite is Empire Strikes Back, including me.
