  1. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Glad to see Q! back not happy to see wise still around. one game makes the difference in this division and wise isn't a difference maker on either side of the lines. Say that when he misplays a key play in the 8th or 9th inning of an important game in September.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) I guess Ive never seen why Anderson has gotten so much love on this board. He had opportunities, Im not about to cry over a player who hit .200 so far in July. Sure he may be a better defender than Wise, but its not such a disservice that it deserves this much attention. Anderson had a chance to earn his role, he didnt. That leaves it up to the manager to decide, and Ozzie made his choice. You must be talking about Wise, as he is the player batting almost .200 so far in July. Almost is the key word there, as he isn't even batting .200 (he's at .196). Anderson is batting .238, which really isn't even that close to .200. I guess Joe Mauer is only batting .300 this year so far.
  3. Obviously Wise hit his single homer of the year at the perfect time. And to those who keep saying that it doesn't matter, as it's just the 4th outfielder, remember that this division is extremely tight. The season may be decided by a single game. We need to be able to put a good defender out there to help keep a lead. Anderson isn't a good player overall, but he's a damn good defender. Dewayne Wise does absolutely nothing.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) Wise? Anderson? What's the diff if Quentin, Podsednik, and Dye are playing everyday? Not really a big story here, in my opinion. Defense for late in games when we need a competent defender in the outfield. Remember that time that Floyd had a no-hitter, but it was screwed up because a great defender sat on the bench for no good reason? Expect plenty of crappy defense out there late in games.
  5. Wow, this is some bulls***. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Q will probably platoon with Wise so expect to see Wise get the majority of playing time.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) I was going to say Santana with out looking at any stats, so glad to see that the stats back that up. Awesome to see Mark in the top 10 there as well. If any of you stat guys have some time I'd be interested to see where Buehrle ranks since he came into the league overall. Johan Santana has been the best pitcher in baseball for years, and almost nobody ever seems to actually want to admit that.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 01:14 PM) Not saying these are the best quality movies. Just have a great repeat value. Vision Quest. Starship Troopers Highlander Every which way but loose and every which way you can. Unforgiven Goodfellas Casino Full Metal Jacket Blackhawk Down The final scene of Unforgiven is probably the best scene ever.
  8. Kyyle, JPN, and BigSqwert suck. That is all. Brian, you are cool.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) This is a big day for us. We've finally all reached a consensus on the suckitude of Wise. He's so bad of a player, that we can only create words to describe his performance. Scrumtralescent? And in regards to Wise, clearly he is one of the worst players in the majors. It seems we have at least one guy a year that fits that description and receives way too much playing time.
  10. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 12:05 AM) "The Milkman" Herbert Perry was my favorite. I laugh everytime I hear Kung Fu Panda and I can't think of any better. *pistol wink*
  11. Oh wow, that is a terrifying move. It falls almost entirely on the guy receiving it to position himself correctly. Hehe, that last sentence is funny.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) I wanted to post before I even read this thread. I fully expect Forrest Gump to appear in at least half of the respondents' posts. As for me, Forrest Gump. Wow, only mentioned twice. And that includes my post.

  14. QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 05:54 AM) "Sudden" Sam McDowell, Juan "The Dominican Dandy" Marichal, Stan "The Man" Musial, Willie "The Say Hey Kid" Mays, Willie "Pops" Stargell, Leo "The Lip" Durocher, "Joltin'" Joe DiMaggio .... baseball used to be a gold mine for great nicknames. Sadly, it's a tradition that has gone by the wayside. All I can think of at this moment for current players is "Big Pappi". Now you just take the first letter of the person's first name and stick the first syllable of their last name on it.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) I think they were referring to "seeing it on tv", because I guess they thought you meant Comedy Central or something. I presume you meant HBO, STARZ, or Showtime. Ah, that makes sense. You are correct. JPN, I like what I have seen of him so far in movies, but I never watched his show. EDIT: It just seems that he is the same character, with minor differences from one character to the next, in his own movies/shows.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) Yeah, I doubt it. Doubt what?
  17. I'm pretty sure I won't see Bruno unless I catch it on TV some time. It looks like a slightly different version of Borat. The Onion summed it up perfectly for me. "Oh, that Sacha Baron Cohen. He's totally unpredictable. You never know what to expect from him unless you've seen all his other work."
  18. I used to collect movies, but Netflix has made that useless. Now I sort of collect electronic things, mostly just random things that catch my attention.
  19. Nicely done, Middle Buffalo. Does anyone think this will have an effect on the immediate sales of White Sox merchandise and popularity of the team?
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) He definitely sucked with the Sox, but I really don't know how much of his demise was due to his family being stricken with that mystery disease. If that happened while he was on the Sox, it's hard to fault a guy for not being there completely on the mound. What was the name of that again?
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) One thing he did was man up and admit he was sucking, didn't hide, didn't give some lame, I'll be a rich man sitting on a beach speech. I always respected him for that. I really liked Billy Koch, Billy Botch frustrated the f***ing hell out of me. Who said that again? Cabrera?
  22. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) Agreed on Hendo being his toughest comp. but maybe cans were a bit harsh. Just low-tier guys then. Hell, I still think he lost the fight against Hamill. Will he get better? Sure. He's in a good enough camp. But until he starts beating guys who are in the top 15 at 185...he's still UFC hype to me. I'm not a big fan of the UFC by any means, but I watch almost all of the PPV's now. I clearly remember the fight between Hamill and Bisping in England, I believe, and remember being completely sure the hometown decision went his way.
  23. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Ruined by his flubbing of his first line. One small step for A man Seriously, that ruined the entire thing?
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:14 AM) Crawl out of your hole and watch the damn Olympics! The Olympics suck, IMO. I love America as much as the next guy, but I couldn't care less if we're better than Macedonia at f**gy sports that nobody cares about except for two weeks every four years.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 08:31 AM) I dont know what cable package you have, but Encore has been running Life is Beautiful for the last month or so, I believe it is in the On Demand I don't think we have that, but I wouldn't watch it so soon either way. Like I said, there are hardly any movies that I would see repeatedly in such a short period of time.
