  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 08:02 AM) I was dragged to the Billy Joel/Elton John concert last night... but it was quite enjoyable. Dragged? I'd love to go to that.
  2. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) I personally really like her. Realness is a part of it. She's a normal girl pretty much. Plus I've seen her for how long on ESPN now. I'd rather see her naked than pretty much any of those porno chicks. But, would you rather see Erin Andrews just walking around topless or a porno chick getting ____ed by 3 or 4 ____s while ____ing her ____ with a ____?
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) Well, the service is pretty good. Is it like directly across the street?
  4. Oh, I thought you were talking about a restaurant.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) It was a slightly above average play that about 22-25 starting MLB centerfielders would/should also have made. Let's not overstate it. None of which are currently on the White Sox.
  6. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) and you would be wrong. A healthy tcq is a top 10-20 player in all of baseball. Haha, well you can tell me when that happens, then. The guy puts in part of a season, and he's suddenly the best player on our team over guys who have consistently put in their time and produced.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) Put it on the ticket exchange here, or put it on stubhub. Even craigslist is an option for you. I bet you get a bunch of hits on craigslist immediately, just make sure you ask for cash only They were 80 bucks. How much do you think I should ask for?
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) Couple thoughts on the Lollapalooza thing: 1. I Hate Festivals. The sound sucks, it's hot and sweaty. Give me indoor shows any day of the week. 2. When I do go, it's never for the discover new bands, experience thing. Not my bag. 3. I would never go to a festival unless there was already 5+ bands I want to see. Other wise it's a huge waste of money. If it's only one band (like Beastie Boys) I would juts wait till a headlining tour, where they will be playing indoors, with a full set, and where you won't be sun burnt, and tired from standing on your feet all day. Thank you. The f***ing Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I can't believe I have to tell my friends that that's who the replacement is. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Then I better watch out walking in dark alleys. He may decide to pounce on me with a poorly fashioned cane. I'm slightly less angry now.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) Somewhere in the North East milkman is punching a wall... Yeah Yeah Yeahs replace Beastie Boys at Lolla I actually live in Chicago again. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Wow, that is a band roughly equivalent to the Beastie Boys? I want to punch someone in the face. Kyyle, where do I sell these tickets and how? Does anyone on this site want tickets to a terrible day of music plus Tool?
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) Me too, I am a regular at xindy's nearby........ Expound. And SHIPPS, you got into my head. I had to go get a breaded steak from them for lunch.
  11. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 07:52 AM) This is all I care about. The team just received it's best player, yet most of this thread consists of people arguing which is better between piss and s***. Best player? Based on less than one season of baseball? Our best player is Dye, no doubt. Arguments can even be made for Thome and Konerko.
  12. Is Torres someone we drafted, or did he come via trade? Was he known before this season, outside of the few posters on here that follow the minors very closely?
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) Only one person inquired and he did not leave disappointed. I may have asked, but it's not surprise sex if you have to ask.
  14. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:26 AM) I understand where you're coming from but the number of people who buy tickets for just one band are outnumbered by people who are going just for the experience. That & they're looking to discover new music & just hang out for the most part. That's where we disagree.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 09:57 AM) Meh. Not worth the hype. They should have denied it was her and moved on, especially since it's been around for 4 months already. Instead they created a firestorm (intentional?). I've never understood the fascination with her. She's hot, no denying that, but in 5 seconds I can find 500 hotter women doing very nasty things. Is it her "realness" versus the porno plastic look that people like? I was saying the exact same thing in the chat yesterday.
  16. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) I have too but I just didnt post about it. It is f***ing awesome though isnt it... You bet your ass. I've actually heard that the breaded chicken is even better, though. The only problem is that it's all pretty expensive.
  17. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) I think the lasting impact of Apollo is vastly undervalued today, particularly its contributions to computer advances. People also forget that it employed 400,000 people, and was, in a sense, its own form of "economic stimulus," in the form of a unique partnership between public and private concerns. Also, I've heard some interesting theories lately about how the Apollo program indirectly effected the Cold War and helped insure peace with the Soviets; the basic theory being that it not only increased American prestige at a time we were "competing" with them for influence over developing nations, but also got the USSR thinking that if we had the technological and finanical ability to land men on the moon, we must also be developing/have developed some bad ass secret weaponry. This not only helped deter potential Soviet aggression against us, but forced them to spend more of their money on guns than butter, similar to the tactics employed by Reagan just prior to the USSR's ultimate downfall. Besides, the space program just totally kicked ass. For some reason, I thought Russia eventually landed someone on the moon. I just looked into it, and there have been 14 people to walk on the moon, and all were Americans.
  18. I've actually known about this for months. You should've just asked, SHIPPS.
  19. This thread can be the official destination for anyone wanting to vent about a defensive play that likely would've been made by Anderson. That inside-the-parker could go either way, but it is surely not going to be the last questionable defensive play.
  20. Has a reporter ever asked Ozzie in a postgame interview why he dislikes Anderson?
  21. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) oh, ok. I don't expect you to understand, as many people on this site have a little more "diverse" taste in music than I do. Some people want to see little-known bands because they've followed them for a while or whatever. I'd see these other bands IF they were just opening for a band I actually like, but that is no longer the case. I believe most people in general feel the same way I do. The people that discuss music on Soxtalk seem to be (and I only use this term because I can't really think of another word for it) more along the lines of music snobs. I don't mean to start an argument with anyone, but I wanted to vent.
  22. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) How do you come up with that 50% estimate?? Because I have never heard of anyone saying "I can't wait for the ____ concert" when referring to the other bands that day. The closest is Tool, and that is a completely different demographic. I thought I was being conservative with that estimate.
  23. I bought three tickets for Lollapalooza on August 8. The sole reason my friends and I wanted to go was to see the Beastie Boys. Now, I'm clearly not mad at the band, but I am pissed. I called to ask about a refund, knowing full well what their response would be, and it's exactly what I got. There are no refunds because festival lineups are subject to change. I read that the guy who runs the agency that runs Lollapalooza said something along the lines of "we haven't received any requests for refunds because people go to this event for the overall event." That is bulls*** and anyone would be stupid to believe that to be the case. I would estimate that at least 50% of the people who purchased tickets for that day did so in order to see the Beastie Boys. They are now searching for a band that could be a suitable replacement. I'm going to end up stuck with tickets to a s***ty lineup headlined by some s*** like DMB.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) WHAT? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7489/s...VYLIrgaSXGFCLcF Anderson is batting .200 in July, how can you just flat out lie? Oh, I thought you were saying that he has hit .200 so far into the month of July.
