AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 06:18 AM) BTW, not sure if it was mentioned here, but the White Sox traded for Jake Peavy figured it was worth mentioning Wow, that really flew under the radar. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned before.

Films Thread
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Funny People was at least 45 minutes too long. Some really funny lines, but just way too long. So, it was a normal Judd Apatow movie? That guy's act is getting old pretty quickly.

Our pitching staff for years to come...
I am absolutely giddy about this trade, but I remember we were saying similar things about our rotation when we acquired Vazquez. I just don't want to count my chickens before they hatch.

Michael Jackson still dead.
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) I learned something today as I was watching part of the MJ updates on CNN: We know that MJ was being anesthesized nightly in order to put him to sleep since he suffered from insomnia. Being anesthesized and being asleep are not the same physical state. So, even though he was being put under, techinically MJ wasn't getting any real sleep at night. So, not only were they not helping the effects of insomnia, but they must have been giving him something to bring him back every morning and more stuff to keep him going throughout the day. This guy was the world heavyweight champion drug user. When you consider this and all of the other stuff we know about him, I think the guy is just better off now. I don't mean that to be disrespectful at all.

Sox Acquire Jake Peavy for Richard, Poreda, Russell, Carter
So long as Peavy fully recovers from his injury, this is an incredible trade. It may or may not help us this year, but it is awesome for the coming years. I like Richard, and wish him the best of luck. This is the type of move that actually could save this season, too.

Ozzie pissed at Colon
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) I'm sorry, between "Ozzie pissed at Colon" and "Maybe they will dump him now" I'm still enough of a 12 year old boy to snicker. I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out, and then I laughed out loud. And yes, this sounds like the end of Colon in a White Sox uniform.

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 08:16 AM) I Love these threads and all the hyperbole. Sure...you are done with the team Sure...you'll never watch them again Sure...you hate [insert player/announcer] This same thread happened in September 2005 then everyone came back and loved the team This same thread happened in last year when we got swept in Minnestoa and everyone came back and loved the team blah blah blah I would really love to see someone step up to the plate when tey say they are done with this team and never post again about the team. That will prove that you are done, moved on and focused on something else. That's hyperbole? You mean the way you left the site and then came back?

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:19 AM) Immediately after the game, I wanted to agree that the season is over. But, I cooled off and realized that I was overreacting. It's still the same team, and they had a bad road trip...a really bad road trip. Now, getting swept by the Yanks this weekend might close the books. I don't see that happening, though. The Sox could easily spilt the series, and might be able to win it if they get their heads out of their collective asses long enough. Now, a bright spot was Randy Williams. There's no guarantee that he will continue to pitch like that, but he looked very good last night. Pena also looked sharp, but he's also looked pretty bad. Q hitting the HR was good, but he's got to get on base more often. And I cannot agree more with the comments about Hawk. What a whiner. The Metrodome had nothing to do with the fact that Kotsay's fly ball went right into a defender's glove. Ever heard of just playing someone right? It was a nice stroke, but it was right at Cuddyer. The same thing would have happened if it was Mauer hitting towards Dye. In fact, it is almost guaranteed to be the opposite.

Alexei Ramirez Updates
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) I actually think this could end up improving the Sox D. I do not think Alexei will be the future SS of the Sox. Gut feeling. I don't wish the guy to be hurt or fail. But I think he was about to be traded before this injury. If he stays, he needs to move back to 2nd or play CF next year. The first thing that went through my mind when I saw Ramirez on the turf was that this could be a good thing for the team somehow.

Sox will hold a Buehrle Appreciation Series
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:43 AM) I was afraid they might raise all prices to $56. You mean lower?

Moving on out....
Don't feel bad about making your mother sad by moving out. Trust me, she'll appreciate it, especially since you're the last to go (your dad will appreciate it even more, *pistolwink*).

Randy Williams up with the Big League Team
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) So how did he look tonight?? I missed most of the game. He was good, but according to Hawk, we don't need to make any pitching acquisitions due to his performance.

Buy or Sell
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) How many times can everyone say the same s*** over and over again in different threads. KW never has and never will be a seller, period. What White Sox GM has everyone been watching for the last decade? Oh, then we should just not post anything because Williams hasn't been a seller? There's two new threads, by the way. One is a poll and the other is just a regular thread. So, I guess the answer is two.

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) It's not really KW's MO, and with most of the contracts that have been passed out I can't blame them. The NYY are in a different league than anyone else and they can afford the mega contracts, but KW has done a great job of adding talent through trade and I think that's where he'll make his big splash in the offseason. Again, they've targeted FAs, but once the bidding gets crazy they pull back, which I agree with. And he can help his case by trading some of the higher-paid guys for some prospects and to free up more money.

Buy or Sell
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Yay, more buyer or seller threads. Two days before the trade deadline after getting embarrassed by the top contenders for the division, what the hell else should people be discussing?

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) who have they been outbid on that was a great move? The Fukudome contract (actually Sox and I believe one other team did outbid the Cubs) and Tori Hunter are bloated. When have we landed a big free agent? That's what I mean.

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) What is he going to realistically replace? Pods (we've been trying to get a stud CF for awhile). Getz (Not a lot of really big 2nd base upgrades out there). I'm just not sure who else you can replace on offense at this point. There really isn't much, and that's why I think we should trade off the valuable pieces we have. That's my top goal, and adding great pieces would be second (and that's not possible). Standing pat and going for it sounds like the worst idea to me.
-
And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) Yah, I guess thats true, but I don't think we should do it at this point only 3 games out. Just try to build it in the offseason. We are constantly outbid in the offseason for the difference-making players. There's really no point in trying to add on talent at that point, as it won't happen. We should trade our pieces with value to prepare for more trades in the offseason.
-
And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Seriously. We're 3 games out with 2 months to play. Anything can happen in the playoffs, especially with a top 3 like we have. Kenny just needs to stand pat and hope our offense starts hitting. If not change things up in the offseason. WHAT?! If anything, they need to add pieces. This team is woeful without additions. I'm not for adding any pieces because I don't believe we could add enough to make us serious contenders, but to think we can compete with what we already have is absurd.

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) I'm still fairly confident our season will end some time in October. I'm positive of it. The final game is October 4th.
-
And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) We're only 3 games out and I guarantee you this season is not over until the last week of our regular season. And then it may last another 4 games, but there's no chance in hell this team makes it past the first round of the playoffs. And even getting that far would almost need a miracle.
-
And that's a White Sox season.
The fact that Pods proves repeatedly that he's a terrible defender, Getz broke the wrong way for no reason on an easy DP ball, and Kotsay hit a ball directly at Cuddyer are not due to the f***ing Metrodome. Shut the f*** up, you pathetic announcer. You're only making an excuse and further perpetuating the belief of the entire organization that it is impossible to win in Minnesota. f*** you, f*** you, f*** you. God, I hate Hawk Harrelson. I almost made this a thread, but figured that would only go badly.

The White Sox should be ashamed of themselves. Just completely embarrassed.
