I just want an owner that will spend money. If that is done consistently, an organization can win. Lightning in a bottle happens so seldom for teams with low payrolls. Sure, a tem can still suck with a higher payroll but I'll take my chances when checks are written.

I would have never thought this would have been a discussion a month ago, but I believe Sox have to pick up the option on Martin Perez for 2026. According to the link below, it's a $10 option with a $1.5 million buyout if not exercised (essentially making it $8.5 million) With the way he fought to come back this year and the way he pitched since coming back, he could be a good role model for our young players and an important part of the rotation if we are to contend for a division title in 2026. In the next week and a half, we have a 3 game series in Seattle (against a team that is only 5-5 in their last 10 games) and a 6 game homestand against Cleveland and Detroit. If we can go 8-1 during this stretch, we'll be 50-71. We'd only have to go 31-10 over the final month and a half to reach .500.

Starting the day on Sunday, August 3, the Sox are 42-69. We'd have to go 39-12 the rest of the way to reach .500 (still miss the playoffs but it would be quite the story). I know it would be destroy our chances of getting a top draft pick but I think the momentum it would bring into next season would be worth it (it might even convince JR to open the checkbook). I believe its possible....do you?

If the Sox traded Robert, do you really think JR is going to spend the $20 millions Aveda next year on other players? He's been tighter than my poop chute in recent years so I have no confidence in that happening. Therefore, as a fan, if the offers aren't good, I'm fine for holding on to him and hope he rebuilds his value.
