  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) I certainly hope so...but frankly, after some of the anti-power-hitter nonsense we keep getting...I worry. All I can hope is that KW observes that when he did things the way Ozzie wanted them done, the margin of error was just way too small. The need for some lineup thunder is there, and keeping Konerko doesnt change that, but it does make the situation better. Hopefully a bigtime power hitter(preferably lefty) makes his way to chicago this year.
  2. I dont remember Konerko saying anything in ST about it being time to leave the organization. And all season he has been talking about how much he loves the Sox organization. If he wants to stay, my guess is that he stays.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) So how many hot chick mugshots are there? at least 24 according to AOL http://www.asylum.com/2008/10/10/mugshot-h...for-the-camera/ although there are some VERY debatable ones in there
  4. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) Seriously, what was up with that guy? Jeez. Anyway, I am excited to see the debut of Brent Morel. The Sox are going to have to dominate the upcoming homestand to make the season interesting, but today would be a good place to start the massive winning streak.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) Such natural beauty. Good call, fellas. LOL, i dont think she is the hottest thing ever, but I wouldnt judge her based on a mugshot
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) You are telling ME to let it go when every thread turns into Thome? Ozzie? I will respond until I'm banned. I expect people to drop the Thome schtick as I was told to drop the Jenks talk. If they bring it up you expect me to ignore it just because I could give a s*** if Thome was on our team or not? It's old and we get it. Thome good; Kotsay/Jones bad. Oh wait, just Kotsay bad. Most people seem to like Jones. You arent responding, greg, you are stirring the pot. Asking that question isnt a response to anything, its a way of saying "Hey look at me, I was cheering for Thome, but all of you werent. Where are you now?"
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) Hudson, Richard, Garland, oh my. Hmmmm which one of these doesnt fit into the equation
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Hey man, it could happen. Back like 4-5 years ago I was on the sports forum on 2k Sports website. Will Rhymes was a poster on that site and talked about playing in the low minor leagues for Oneonta and West Michigan and stuff. It's really odd to see a guy I used to talk sports with on a sports forum now playing baseball in the minor leagues. In fact, I even FOUND the thread from back in 2006. LOL....... http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?...ighlight=Rhymes Apparently Wes Bankston made the majors in 2008. was Wil Rhymes screename Paul5150
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) It's crazy that Alex Smith went 1st overall in the same draft Aaron Rodgers went 24th overall (2005). Tim Couch says hi Best Quarterback draft in History(so we were told)
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) All I want to know is: Where was all this praise for Thome when he was, uh, actually on our team? Would you let it go? Thome got plenty of praise when he was here, and he got plenty of s*** when he had his bad stretches, as any player for the White Sox does on this site. What do you want people to do, go back and alter their posts and heap tons of praise on the guy? Some people loved him(Kalapse), some people didnt care for him(Jerksticks). It is what it is. Asking something like what is quoted above is doing nothing but asking for an argument

  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Whoa there, it's your tone; it's the wrong tone. When, during any of this pile of generalizations, was the condescending, high school tone necessary? I never liked Thome, you apparently did. In fact, I grew up disliking him on the Indians; you apparently didn't mind him those years. So he hit a few nice homeruns for the Sox over a pointless 4 years did he? Good for him. Good.....for........him (slow, sarcastic clap). I swear some of you act like Jim was Mr. White Sox; Mr. homegrown, glad to be home, king of the South Side. That's Buehrle, Konerko, Baines, Thomas territory that he has no business being in the same discussions with. He grew up a cub fan, played forever on the Indians, co-founder of CWS Corpseball, played on 4 meaningless Sox teams that didn't accomplish dick. What's the big deal? I don't think Thome was the missing piece this year; the first 2 months were. We disagree; why give your arguments that personal attack feel, man? I'm not understanding that avenue. Look, both of you are going back and forth with the snide condescending attitude in regards to thome, so dont cry foul when you are throwing your"since ops only matters to you", "whoop de doos" and "Good....for.....him(slow clap)"'s back at him.

  14. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) I was responding to the idea that if someone were incompetent they would be gone. Just not true. Not in baseball. Not in life. As for Ozzie, I think he does some things well and others (notably in game strategy) not so well. The penchant for angry drama leaves me cold too. The Sox were a lot like a bad soap opera this year. Win and all will be forgotten. I remember the A's in the 70's, a very dysfunctional unit that won three straight WS. No need to be so defensive. You like him. I don't, but still recognize his strengths. I'd take him over the three managers that preceeded him in a heartbeat. I know as long as the current owner stays he more than likely keeps his job no matter what. Im not saying it is an idea, I am firmly convinced that if KW felt that Ozzie was incompetent that Ozzie would be removed as manager of the team. I dont believe that JR protects Ozzie from KW firing him, and if he was truly as incompetent as many suggest, that he would of been gone a long time ago. And I also admitted in my first post that Ozzie does a lot of stupid s*** that drives me absolutely bonkers, but to read this website one would believe that Ozzie is truly the worst manager in the major leagues, and I dont believe that by a long shot. Stubborn, somewhat crazy, gut over stats, absolutely. But not nearly as bad as a lot of Sox fans believe. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Beacon of sanity? He has been preaching on how the DH will never really matter. We get a real DH and win 7 straight. and strangely enough without a true DH they managed to go 25-5 with streaks of 11 and 9 sandwiched in there. Baseball is a funny game, and this team is as streaky as it gets.
  15. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) That's just not true. The Peter Principle is alive and well in all facets of life, including baseball. OK sure, a guy with no managerial skills whatsoever has managed to make the playoffs twice and win a world series, while also managing to have a season in which his team was dead in the water 2 weeks before the allstar break and now is within striking distance of the playoffs. You are right, its the Peter Principle. The White Sox have been winning despite Ozzie for 6 years
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) WTF? A couple years ago people buried Konerko? Seriously, WTF? The only bad year he had was in 2007 when his thumb was screwed up. Can you provide specific examples of these people who buried Konerko and how exactly they stated this burying? Greg got mad and up in arms because people were booing him when he was having the bad year. Greg cannot accept that a player can be booed, because this must mean that the boo-er is saying that they hate the player, not the performance. Hence, everyone on Soxtalk "brutalized" Konerko except for greg.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Teahen is 4/29 career against Verlander. Man...there's no way to win this one is there. Can Castro play 1b? He's at least 1/3 career against him. Ozzie could go unconventional and give Viciedo a shot too. But I dont see that happening this month
  18. a healthy Konerko is paramount to the success of this team this month(and hopefully next month). I can accept a few days off if he needs to get a little more work from Herm
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) I think I get it now... Violence = Good avenue to ridicule the Twins Sexuality = Bad avenue to ridicule the Twins you are referring to a specific group of people when you use sexuality, so yeah, I guess you are right. You could take out the word "Sexuality" and replace it with "racism" and the point would be much the same, you were targeting people and using them as an example of what the Twins were. And you didnt really imply violence towards specific people, you said "Hex the Twins". We understand that point, we want them to stop winning and throwing a fake curse at them with a widespread symbol of a curse isnt going to hurt anyones feelings.
  20. QUOTE (gatnom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Did we need Randy Williams? starting the year with only one lefthander in the bullpen(Thornton) would have been pretty risky. IIRC Threets started the year injured which is why he didnt break camp with the team. I wouldnt of minded too much if Randy Williams didnt make the team out of camp, but I understand the thinking. Plus, the thinking in January wasnt Thome vs Randy Williams
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) Unfortunately, I think that is the point. He even talked about it in his promo. yeah I caught that. It doesnt make it right
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) I like the build up for Miz/Bryan at NOC. Kinda wish they would let Bryan play it off more seriously, but I feel it is working. I wish they would spice up Bryans look a little bit. He looks like a 1980's jobber
