  1. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) What was it that you added? Nobody has ever said move Beckham this year. Every single post says "for the future" and they are all correct. My "addition" was that there is no point in arguing over something that doesn't exist (in this case, that Beckham should be moved NOW). Understand now? Please make sure that nobody has ever said move Beckham this year QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) No one's asking him to play musical chairs on a nightly basis, but I don't think there's a ton of difference between playing 2b and 3b, and I don't think it's going to shatter the kid's confidence or affect his bat necessarily. The right combo may eventually be fields at 3b and gordon at 2b, or the right combo might be what we have. I don't think it's black or white. I agree with you for the most part. I dont think playing 2B would ever be an issue of "settling in", i think it is more 3rd base than anything. It is a different position than middle infield in mentality and reactions, I just think they want him to stay consistent with one thing before they attempt to shuffle him around. THey have been playing safe with him all season, I dont see that changing
  2. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) We moved Alexei around a lot last year, despite his youth at a ton of positions generally excluding the one he's used to. Why would this necessarily not allow gordon to "settle in"? A lot? CF for the first month, very sporadically, then he went to 2B pretty much fulltime when Uribe pulled his hammy against the Giants
  3. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) Feel free to point out any post that said "OMG, move Beckham to 2b TONIGHT!!!!!" Feel free to add something to the discussion. There has been plenty of Soxtalk discussion about where Beckham needs to be, 3B, SS, and 2B, and I agree with OKB, Gordon should be allowed to settle in to one position and unfortunately it knocked out another young player(Fields) from his natural position because he was slumping.
  4. The Royals and Sox have actually traded sort of frequently in the last couple years. Off the top of my head, MacDougal, Ramirez and Sisco. I wouldnt completely discount trading for Teahen at this point
  5. The thing that I love about Beckham is his approach with RISP. He has been absolute money for the last 2 weeks, and everything is up the middle. An exception was last night when he struck out vs Herges, but he was very close to a RBI in his first two swings, he was killing the ball foul
  6. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) *then shipps pretends to put $1 tip on table but is actually taking kyle's only dollar.* I can accept that some people are more needy than others. Consider it a gift
  7. Contreras, please dont leave us with a Sower taste in our mouths Thanks folk, Im here all day
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) Offensively, Quentin will be replacing Anderson/Wise in the lineup, as Ozzie has said Pods moves to CF when TCQ returns. So anything he gives us beyond what AnderWise has provided is a positive, and it shouldn't take him long to pass that bar and do a lot more. IF he remains healthy, which is why I say it is bonus. We all now know that one *pop* and Quentin is on the shelf for the rest of the year.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 06:34 AM) I think a lot of people are setting themselves up for a big disappointment if they think CQ is going to step right back in and dominate. Honestly, isnt any production from Quentin at this point just bonus? The Sox are clicking right now on offense, Quentin provides another presence in the lineup, but it isnt as if the Sox offense struggles could be pinned on the absence of Quentin. I would lay most of the blame on complete lack of execution and coinciding slumps if anything

    QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Seriously, what's up with her thumbs? http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/06/...all_thumbs.html
  11. I found that staring out the window at the wing of my plane was unsettling, duct tape or no duct tape. watching the metal ripple in the wind had me thinking of the Twilight Zone episode with Shatner(also the remake with John Lithgow)
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) Just out of curiosity, and I'm not saying I would do this for sure........ ...if the Cubs came calling for Pods and Thornton, and they were willing to deal their top prospect (vitters) and perhaps someone else with a bright future would you bite? maybe we can give them Beckham too for someone else who might have a bright future. I would seriously vomit if this trade happened, I dont want vitters
  13. Did they find these tapes sitting next to the Ark of the Covenant?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) That's basically what VDN's offense did with Deng the first 1/2 of the season last year. yeah, but Villanueva is as tall as most centers, and isnt as much as a slasher as Deng is(supposed to be)
  15. Isnt a big problem with Villanueva the fact that he doesnt like to play with his back to the basket and use his height down low, and that he likes to stay outside and chuck 3's? Doesnt seem like a guy like that would help the bulls
  16. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) The good news is that we're beating the teams we should be beating. The bad news is that soon enough we'll be playing better teams. The NL Central and Cleveland represent mediocre to poor competition If we can start consistently beating Detroit again we'll be in great shape though At least they mixed in a good series against LA. Even without Manny LA has been a pretty dominant team this season

  18. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 07:59 AM) I'm actually confused as to why DeRosa has been considered as such a great option, yet Teahen has not... Mark DeRosa: 34 years old, right-handed, makes $5.5M, free agent after this year... Mark Teahen: 27 years old, left-handed, makes $3.5M, free agent after 2011... The only clear difference is RBI. You can blame that on the Royals crappy "offense"... I dont think Teahen is a bad option at all. Its all about visibility, Teahen has been in relative obscurity for his entire career on the Royals, and DeRosa succeeded in a pretty demanding atmosphere and was generally known as the "glue" of the team. But I wouldnt say no to Teahen, not at all
  19. Ellis Burks was pretty awesome for the 1 year he was on the Southside
  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) Well damn... We know the status of your Glass. yeah, fully empty after being dumped over everyones head

Yeah his roomate was completely pointless. At least Anthony Anderson helped send messages to the army using morse code in the first movie.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Completely different. The Batman series had some good stuff in it at one time, and was the type of story that could made into an actual film. The Transformers series is just 2 two hour films of watching someone else play a video game. There has been like 20 years of comics, movies, and cartoons, there is plenty to go on besides Bay's vision. Im just saying you can hand the reigns of a highly profitable movie to a top notch director and let him do whatever he wants with an unlimited budget, exactly like what they did with Transformers 2, and have a decent to good action film with amazing special effects. Just because the previous movie was stupid doesnt mean someone like Nolan(and I am just using him as an example, a relative unknown at the time who had a better vision than the previous director) would turn it down, these movies are money machines.
  23. How about Mr Gavin Floyd? He got himself into exactly 1 jam tonite with the loaded bases, other than that they had no idea what to do with him.
