  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) Shocking.I mean, cmon now guys we are talking about BIGFOOT that is like saying there may be proof the toothfairy exists. Her wings were found on someones sattelite dish. How could anyone have fallen for this? Being someone who is interested in cryptozoology, I take issue with this statement. We arent talking about a fairy or a magical creature, we are talking about a creature that could possibly have escaped being identified by science. Just in the last month there was a discovery of lowland gorillas in africa that doubled the estimated population. They went from almost being completely gone(many were saying they were not far from complete extinction) to a gigantic population stuck in a remote corner of africa that nobody ever came in contact with. While i understand that the possibility of such a bigfoot creature is so tiny, so remote that it is hardly worth believing at all, I also think that there must be some strange reason that tales of Bigfoot/sasquatch/yeti have been passed along for hundreds of years all over the entire world. There are places in North America that are extremely hard to get at by foot, there are mountain chains in asia that are almost impossible to get into, so there is a tiny little bit that a sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti could exist somewhere in the world. Do I think it exists? Probably not. To go this long without a body being found anywhere really makes it a hard case to get behind. Do I think this is "Oh man, we were so dumb, this is like believing in the tooth fairy.", no, I dont think its like that at all.
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) That was actually going to be one of mind, well, kinda. -Egbert will pitch more than 50 innings this season for the Sox. -Danks will be the odd man out for most of the season. -Anderson stick around the organization until June, and after he has a solid start to AAA, he is traded for something of value. *-Contreras has a 1st half revival, but most of us know it probably won't last all season, yet the organization can't get a replacement for someone who is going good at the moment. -Fights ensue on Soxtalk when posters consistently fight about the Linebrink signing, with the doubters saying I told you so due to his disappointing season. -Crede is traded, and has a decent season in San Fran. When Fields has a bad few weeks, the "I wish we still had Crede" posts come pop up. -Garcia is signed for dirt around May, basically paying him to rehab, hoping he can make a come back in August, September. Ouch tony, 1 for 7
  4. Thats a wrap folks. As fake as a 3 dollar bill Silly Georgians
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) I really think it was the copy of the Never Ending Story that makes this man a terrorist obviously. All he had to do was get that dog/dragon thing to come to life and then who is laughing! haha, Jinx!
  6. I think you guys are all missing the scariest part of the entire article:
  7. QUOTE (Shadows @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) Who was traded for Marty Booker and a 3rd round pick just so they could move on and get him off the team.. Brady Quinn would cost a LOT more than that, guaranteed Miami isn't cutting or trading Ronnie Brown, he is coming off knee surgery and Ricky Williams has looked great so far.. people are looking too far into it I was responding to the fact that the Bears never make a move, not the availability of Quinn or Brown.
  8. the Bengals proved that they really dont care what you do, or how many times you do it, and re-signed Chris Henry Odell Thurman soon to follow....../green(?)
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) Um, dude, next time... LET GO OF THE KITE! Damn you beat me to it! fix those HTML tags http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/weather/2...te.boarder.wfor
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) That's f***ing ridiculous. It's too bad it's impossible to see these games on tv. ESPN ran the highlights today. I couldnt find any highlights on the webpage though i do have to say, Schierholtz slide, while retaliatory, was way out of line. it wasnt a slide, it was Torii Hunter-Jamie Burke part 2, but the Chinese catcher didnt even have the ball. After it happened, things went crazy. Matt LaPorta's beanball was really bad though, and it was after the slide/collision. He took it off the back of the head, and you could tell that the pitcher put it right where he wanted to
  11. I dont know if any of you saw the highlights of the US vs China baseball game, but it was all kinds of dirty http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer08/bas...ecap?gameId=646 Matt Laporta was beaned in the head after a hard slide at home by Nate Shierholtz(who was beaned twice), the US team was beaned 4 times in the game. at the end of the game with US up 9-0, chinese player Yang Yang hit a meaningless homerun and ran around the base with his "number one" finger pointed up the entire time and pumping his fists like they just won. Chinese manager Jim lefebvre, Pitcher Chen Kun, and pitching coach Steve Ontiveros were all thrown out of the game.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) They showed a view of the play behind homeplate and it looked like Cabrera held up his mitt quickly, as if to tell Mark and Alexei that he had the throw. It must not have been intentional because then he pulled up as if he expected Alexei to take the throw. Who should take the throw depends on baserunners and who is hitting. From the sounds of it it should have been Ramirez throw, but I am guessing Alexei deferred to Cabrera because of the brief holding up of the glove. I didn't hear the post game show for an official comment, but that is how I saw it. the way I see it, that is ALWAYS the shortstops ball. Cabrera has all of his momentum going towards first, Alexei has to stop his momentum and throw across his body to make the play if he takes the throw. The only time the 2nd baseman should be taking a throw for a DP should be when it is coming from the SS or 3rd baseman. Just my two cents.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 07:45 AM) Even if he becomes available the Bears won't make the move. They NEVER make the move. (cough, except for, cough, Rick Mirer, cough) They made the move for Ogunleye.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) only if you touch yourself We usually wait for you to show up before all that stuff starts
  15. I dont think its over by a long shot. I havent seen either QB completely distinguish himself during the two games I have seen. Orton starts the first game and fumbles a drive away, and looks completely ineffective. Grossman starts the second game, gets exactly .01 seconds to make any decision, throws a pick(a tipped pick at that), and is ineffective. Like everyone says, this position is going to be set up by the O-Line, and as of right now the O-line is just flat out awful.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) Anyone going to be in there tonight? maybe just maybe. If you promise to show your pretty face
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) No Orton I am very suprised! time to buy into that whole re-broken clavicle thing, eh?

    Films Thread

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) With the Batman franchise, I don't scoff at anything. They marketed the hell outta that thing almost two years prior. agreed, there was tons of viral marketing. Thats a well made fan poster
  19. I just dont see how a Catch-All thread is a downfall of this site. It doesnt detract from the amount of posted threads IMO, there is still plenty to sift through. To me, specific threads are like the newspaper, and the catch-all is like sports talk at the bar with buddies ("hey did you hear what happened to so-and-so?"). They each serve a purpose. Maybe something should be done to curb the amount of posts in the catch-all (maybe a 25 page limit before the catch-all is dated and archived), but I definitely think that it serves a good purpose. As this site has grown, it has obviously matured. Some of that is driven by the people who have grown up and moved on to a different time in their lives, some of it is driven by the image that this site reflects on the rest of the Internet. There is always other sites that people can move on to if they dont appreciate what ST has to offer, some people swear by WSI, and thats fine by me. Im here because I enjoy the banter and the people on the site, when I feel that has changed, I might not post as much, but I will always read.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 07:12 AM) I think we won a few series there in the last couple of years. I know its the first time they won consecutive games there since 2000. Honestly the only time I can remember the Sox coming close to taking a series was in 2005 when they had that crazy series where a bunch of people were ejected and Dye ended up playing shortstop.
  21. I havent had problems with comcast, but I know people that have had many problems so I know what you are saying. I think the problem for you is that they are your only option because your mom doesnt want a dish, and AT&T isnt available where you are. My neighbor has WOW cable, but honestly I go nuts watching TV at his house, the interface is a total mess. To me it looks like you either suck up your pride and get comcast or go for the lesser service
  22. Happy Birthday NUKE, hopefully many happily said naughty words come out of your mouth
  23. Quentin looks like he is taking his game up a notch. the closer the Twins have gotten to the Sox, the more Quentin mashes. The guy is simply unreal this year. TCQ
  24. This week in White Sox Retribution brought to you by Dick Allen's unwavering support Seriously, everyone who Dick defended earlier this year are making a good portion of us look dumb and impatient(myself included). Konerko seems to have found his stroke, Uribe is an amazing asset at third, the team looks like they are finally rebounding from a slow start out of the gate after the All Star game. 2 out of 3 aint bad, but it is kind of disappointing considering they could have swept. Time to do to the Mariners what the Twins did to them.
