NBA Ref Fixes Games for the Mob
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) Well in baseball, lets say someone wanted to bet the over/under. The homeplate umpire could call a smaller strike zone to try to force the game to go over and vice versa. Its easier to fix a game through the players than it is through the umpires. Even if an umpire opens up or shrinks the strike zone, he still doesnt have control of what the pitcher and hitter are going to do. If the zone is tight, the hitter still may swing at a pitch he percieves to be good and ground out, and if the zone is wide open, the hitter could get a hanging curvevball and go yard. Baseball is a really unpredictable sport, i think it would be really hard for an ump to control an outcome.

Drew Carey to host The Price is Right
No matter what, Carey is doomed to fail. I think he will be fine, but he is going to be compared to the incomparable Bob Barker in a job that has only had one employee: Bob Barker.

NBA Ref Fixes Games for the Mob
This is everything that Stern and his sh** eating grin have been laughing off for the past 20 years. You have a serious problem when the integrity of the game is questioned, as it has been for a while. The problem increases 1000X when the integrity of the game is compromised, Stern is going to have quite an uphill battle to regain the respect of the fans that pay to watch this game.

Does Owens stink?
Why is Willie Harris even entering the conversation? He has been gone for 1 1/2 years now, Harris wasnt an option last year either. I think Owens has the capability of being a productive player, but he is going to have to put in some serious work to improve his hitting, start looking for pitches to drive and picking his spots to bunt. He is almost a gauranteed stolen base when he gets on, now its time to get him on a little more often. One thing i do like about him is that he does seem to have the ability to work the count full fairly often, he has had a few lengthy at bats that have made the pitchers work a little harder in the first inning.

Samoa Joe has put on a few pounds since his appearance in WWF/E, he looked really slim in that appearance. Does anyone know why he was one and done? He didnt look like he was bad in the ring at all

Flight of the Concords
Last night was without a doubt one of the craziest and best FotC yet. Jemaine as Ziggy Stardust David Bowie, 70's Bowie, and 80's Labrynth David Bowie had me laughing my ass off, especially when he would fly out of the room. Mel and Murrays characters get better every week, if I had any complaint about anything it would be that Dave isnt a bigger part of the show, but I am sure that he will be soon enough. I cannot get enough of these guys, I read some review of the show that called them the modern-day Monkees, and I have totally bought into that.

Films Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) Whether you have a question about a movie or if you just saw a movie and want to comment on it, this is the thread for you. I will start if off by saying I saw American Psycho last night and all I can say is what a strange strange movie. I also caught Harry Potter this week and must say that as a whole I was a bit disappointed. The movie wasn't near as good as its predecessors and it appeared to be much more of a set up for the next movie (in the sense that there really wasn't' much action while all the other movies had a lot of action packed/exciting moments). What did you think of it?(besides it being strange, of course) Its the movie that made Christian Bale for me

Stephanie Tanner gets married
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) I saw Stephanie on tv a couple of years ago, and I told my friends that she ended up being the best looking one of the daughters from Full House. Nobody believed me, especially since she was the worst during the run of the show. Now you all see. She may be the best looking one, but Candace Cameron isnt too bad herself http://www.celebopedia.com/candace-cameron...ace-cameron.jpg

To me, contreras looks like he is pitching knowing that he is being traded. he has that "deer in headlights" look that he lost in the second half of 05 and first half of 06.

Timo's Back
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) Correct, he had a great game that day and was having a GIGANTIC year at triple a. BTW, in his first game with the big club the other day, he scored the winning run in the 10th inning for the Tigers at Minnesota. The legend grows. I can understand the big year at triple A(well, I really cant. But im not gonna argue it). But MVP of the triple A all star game? thats the part that blows me away

White Sox vs. Red Sox, 7/20/07 (L)
Man, Mackowiak and Owens are hot at the plate now(despite Mack striking out a second ago). And the Sox are about to replace them with China doll #1 and China doll #2. That kinda sucks
