  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 25, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) He just frustrates the hell out of me. He's always the guy that keeps ISU from getting anywhere close to the Jayhawks. His breakaway steal and dunk was a backbreaker last year. he was the sole reason the Salukis didnt advance in the tournament. Julian Wright was out of sorts, Rush was unstoppable. the kid hit every shot he took.
  2. I was listening to the score a few days ago after the Sox beat the Cubs, and a Sox fan called in and started talking about how he hates AJ and thinks he is bad news, despite the fact that he can be clutch and had moments that changed the 2005 season. It got me to thinking about the whole surrounding mystique about AJ, and wondering what really makes everyone hate the guy. I remember back when AJ was with the Twins, all of the White Sox players talked about how they didnt like him, but they never gave good reasons why they didnt like him. It was always something like "he talks too much", but never any concrete reasons that I could see besides the fact that AJ always stuck it to the Sox when he was put in the position to do so. Basehits, calling games, taking leads, AJ was always in the middle of the fray. Then the story came out of San Francisco that AJ kneed a trainer in the "cup". I still dont know if I believe it. It really doesnt sound like something he would do, despite the fact that he comes off to many people as an agitator. I just know that AJ had a tough year in San Francisco and never really fit in, and towards the end stories started coming out of nowhere. Basically I just wanted to find out what the majority of Soxtalk thinks about AJ, and why you think the way you do.
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 25, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) Why only two IP? the game with Boston had a 2 hour game delay I am seeing on the ESPN scoreboard, maybe they just put another pitcher in after that long of a layoff.
  4. CNN thinks its real http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/25/monster.pig.ap/index.html
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 25, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) How do you figure its Left first, Contreras pitches before Danks in the rotation. Because Danks and Contreras flipped
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 25, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) Him and Big Ben could be the most offensively inept front court in basketball. But their hair would be fantas........nevermind
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Freel makes $2.325M this year, $3M next and $4M in '09. And since I feel obligated to mention it in any Freel thread the guy has had multiple DUI's, has had some drug problems and is completely insane. But he can hit! And play multiple positions! KW is good at getting money thrown in on deals, if the Reds are wheeling and dealing Im sure KW will have his ears perked
  8. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 25, 2007 -> 07:34 AM) Dunn or Griffey are the only realistic names, and those would mostly be salary dumps, although I think Griffey would be the wiser move, since he could play LF or CF. Dunn is essentially a DH playing LF. Freel, or any young player in the first 3-5 years of his career, is going to be prohibitively expensive to acquire. I would love to have Juan Castro as a defensive replacement, but we're locked in with Cintron, Pods and Hall on the most expensive bench in baseball. And Jeff Conine would be another possibility for the OF, but I don't see how he's a clear upgrade over our LF platoon right now. Freel has been in the league (officially, he was up with the blue jays in 2001) 6 years and he is 31 years old. I think he might be available, I dont see how he would be prohibitively expensive. The Reds need arms, not to stockpile aging utility players
  9. LOL, I work at Chase and when i saw the thread title I was wondering what we did this time.

  11. QUOTE(Shadows @ May 24, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Im debating going tonight, but I think I wanna see 28 weeks later instead.. Too many high school kids there, and with school out it means its gonna be 10x worse than when I saw Spiderman 3 at the midnight showing i know what you are saying. When peter parker went "dark" in the movie, about half of the theatre said "thats sooooo emo" at the same time and complained about it for a while. I was thinking it, and it made me laugh a little bit, but it was kind of annoying too because they wouldnt let it die. A lot of "ssshhhhhs"
  12. http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/....end/index.html CNN wasnt as kind as the Chicago papers Im looking forward to it though

All I know for sure right now is that it is absolutely impossible to kill Mikhail and Locke. One thing I did notice was that Ben didnt indicate any sort of surprise when Locke showed up.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 24, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) Other possible titles: "The 350-page Rest Hold" "Entitlement: A Life Story" "Too Much, Too Soon, Too Dull: The Randy Orton Story" WINNAR!! /thread lmao
  15. Carl Pavano = BUST
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) Gaudin's only allowed 5 homers in the last 120 innings or so he's pitched. So what you are saying is that the Sox are not the only team that cant hit this guy? Wierd
  17. haha, i was right QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) We're having better at-bats so far tonight than we did against him in April. Hopefully we can score some runs against him, but I don't like Garland's chances of keeping the A's to below 3 runs. LOL, Hawk is pimping Morrisseys column and DJ is just ignoring it and talking about something else
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) You going to a game sometime soon? I believe you owe me a beer. Actually I am soon, me and some work buddies are gonna catch a train after work in the coming weeks. And I will definitely ante up on that beer
  19. Ok, its getting wierd how many line drive double plays the Sox have had lately
  20. over/under on hawk calling Scutaro a piran-ya again tonite? 3?
  21. Gooch going back on a ball scares me.
  22. As long as Judy Garland is non-existent, I think the Sox have a good chance of pulling this one out. they need to keep it close, and Garland is pitching well
  23. KC has some fight in them, they are taking it to the tribe 4-3
  24. I think the answer to the trivia question is robin ventura and julio franco
