It’s not likely, but there isn’t a lot of guys at the major league level who are blocking him and Getz has made a lot of call ups this season that make me think he would be willing if he believes the player can do it

Ok what happens if something clicks with Cannon next year and going through spring training, it is undeniable that he is the best pitcher on the squad at that time? Is it probable? No. But sometimes pitchers with sinker stuff like he has just find themselves after a few years. There are so many variables for the Sox, and looking at the Sox top 5 organizational arms and saying “these are the only guys who can possibly be the next guys” completely discounts a possibility like a Shane Smith coming in via rule 5 and proving his worth.
