I mean, I don’t expect either of their numbers to be good. When I watch the games I don’t feel confident that either of them know what they are doing to be honest, there is nothing either does that gives me the feeling that one is the better defender than the other. Quero has won a few games with his bat and that’s about all the good things I can say about him. Romo had a mild hot streak when he came up and that’s the best thing I can say about him. Every game I watch Romo seems to burn a challenge in the dumbest way possible. Picking between Romo and Quero to me feels like picking which pile of s%*# smells worse, you are welcome to believing in Romo if you wish.

See these aren’t all the same argument. You are arguing two separate things, player abilities and the teams finances. Giving him at bats to rest peters is not super risky. You may not like it because the player hasn’t been good this season but it’s not super risky. I feel like people are conflating risk with personal approval, and it’s not the same thing. Doyle isn’t coming in to supplant the center fielder, he is coming in because they are concerned that the backups are not good enough

Luis Castillo isn’t gonna sink the payroll flexibility if he pitches shitty. This is “if you are scared then get a dog” s%*#. He is coming to be a 3rd starter at best(which could change if they get another pitcher)

Why is Castillo risky? It’s a one year deal if he pitches shitty, this season and whatever they get next season. He isn’t hitting 180 innings next year, he isn’t getting that option in 28. What makes it risky?
