QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) Did anyone go to Riot Fest last year? Is it a mess to park around there during this? Didnt they move Riotfest so that this problem would be reduced?
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) People forget that 24 teams passed on Mike Trout but they never forget that Paul Konerko was once beaned in the face
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) That isn't what he said at all. QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) Who was the last elite closer to be taken in the top 3-5 picks? Go ahead, I'll wait.
  4. Twins are transitioning Jay to a starter, and has never been considered an MLB elite closer
  5. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Huh? How is a guy with a .306/.371/.537 slash with 27 HRs, 82 RBIs, a 3.2 fWAR and 4.4 bWAR a "sort of not bad outfielder". He also has played in at least 135 games per season every year of his career other than the year he was suspended with an average of 148 games per year. He has not been on the DL since 2014. For his production he is also not that highly paid with an average of $19M over the next four years ($15M option with $4M buyout in 2021). Again, im not doubting his ability to hit, the crack about "sort of bad outfielder" is a defense only comment. I just think the guy from this point forward would probably fit better in the AL where he can just DH. Chavez Ravine is huge, and Braun is not a good OF, he never has been, and he isnt getting younger

all i can say is Netflix is killing it. I love their selection, and it just keeps getting better
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) Disagree. I think Braun would look great in LA next year. Ethier and Reddick will be gone. Braun can still rake, and he is very serviceable in LF. They can afford him. Look at his stats for this year. He hits, period. I never said anything about him being unable to hit. How many games did he play last year? How many games is he probably gonna play this season? (Hint: not enough, either season) He is always injured. He needs to be a DH. I think open free agency will net both the Dodgers and Brewers a better get than a straight swap
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) The rumor still is that Braun and Puig will be flipped in the offseason. Came within 20 minutes of it happening this time around. Doesn't really make sense for the Dodgers. They don't need another highly paid often injured sort of not bad outfielder
  10. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) How about we get back to discussing baseball? Sounds good to anyone else? I love seeing when there's new posts but hate when I have to shuffle through posters just bantering with one another back and forth that they are right and the other is wrong (although the banter may have started on the topic, recently none of it has been ending there, just saying). Agreed. Sorry I continued it after I asked that it would be stopped
  11. That was the rumor when the Brewers made the claim. I think it is moot now that the Dodgers pulled him back after the claim was made
  12. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Well, what about that Marty guy? Whatever happened to him? Where'd he go? Here one minute all over the place, then POOF - gone! Completely out of sight! You got him chained up somewhere down in the Soxtalk dungeon? If so, release the prisoner, immediately!! Marty was suspended for a few months and then the suspension was lifted. He was allowed to come back but chose not to and asked us to delete his account. Got anything else for me thad?
  13. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) As I noted in the warning thread previously stickied, baiting is allowed but personal attacks are not. So you have certain admins baiting people left and right they don't agree with to try to get them banned. Please give a list of those banned in this practice

They should trade him for good prospects because the last three seasons were all flukes
  15. Look, I applaud you for being a good fan and showing up as much as you can. Let me know when the sox are in the bottom 10 of attendance consistently. This isn't an attack on you, this is just pointing out that Sox fans don't show up and pack the park regularly. Nobody annointed me anything, I'm not generalizing anything. I'm sorry that you get butt hurt every time someone insinuates that Sox fans don't show up and pack the park, but they don't. So you, you can also spare me.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) The Phillies did pretty well in that trade. Jared Eickhoff is already a mid-rotation arm. Jake Thompson, while he struggled this year in majors, has the chance to be a top of the rotiation arm. Two top 100 prospects, one of which is catcher, plus another arm. Not a bad deal for the Phillies. None of this is really instant success though. Nothing has changed for the Phillies much, they are still a bad team but are on pace for a few more wins. they certainly look like they won the trade, but it isnt instant success, which is what the question asked about.
  17. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) The Phillies last year? Who was their ace? and if instant more success is instead of going 63-99 then jumping to possibly winning 70-72 games(currently at 64-81), then i guess the white sox are on this "instant more success" track
  18. QUOTE (captain54 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) Point well taken, and duly noted. Just to clarify. You have an admin of a Sox fan board that takes every opportunity to rip and belittle Sox fans. Doesn't that strike you as odd? it's tiresome and annoying. Shouldn't putting out fires effectively begin with squelching the source? Putting out fires = telling people they cant voice their opinion? (and before anyone jumps on this statement, all three of you have MORE than voiced your own opinions and none of it has been "squelched") He hasnt ripped or belittled anything, merely pointed out that Sox fans simply dont show up when they need to. Its an unfortunate truth
  19. Captain, Thad, SS2K5, just stop talking to each other. You three turn threads into nonsense repeating the same tired things over and over. Guess what? you wont change each others minds. The end.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) The problem is you can do the same thing with the Royals and Tigers. Strip away KC's fifth starter and they're on a pace for 94 wins and the playoffs despite everything else (tepid offense, Soria, injuries, Yost). Take away Sanchez and Pelfrey, the Tigers suddenly become one of the best teams in baseball despite JD Martinez, Castellanos and Maybin missing time. lmao no
  21. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 08:52 AM) Poison ivy on dick: 0/10 do not recommend. Submit this to google reviews so that others can be warned
  22. I'm not really feeling the sky is falling after yesterday. To each their own though
  23. Alshon looks pretty f***ing unstoppable
  24. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 01:17 AM) Should make another thread for best HBO Documentaries. I would start with Paradise Lost and then The Jinx. I also love the Iceman stuff too. Paradise Lost is a really good documentary but it is so hard to watch. The videos of when they find the kids are just heart breaking. The Iceman interviews are a great watch. That was truly a man with no moral compass
  25. Denver went headhunting all day yesterday and the refs didn't stop it once. Poor show for their concussion safety protocols
