QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) And that has a lot of value now a days since many teams use platoons. Im not arguing that he has no value, i am saying that he is merely a placeholder and to believe otherwise is foolish. Valencia would have to have a Joey Bats type coming out party to change my mind, and I highly doubt that happens.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Thats great news, Kyle! Congrats! We bought an older home too, owned by an older woman in her 80's. Friday the AC went down. Had a guy out almost immediately Friday afternoon. The guy says "Well, there is good news and bad news. The good news is, I know exactly how to fix it. The bad news is, your unit is a commercial unit, and I don't carry commercial parts." Needless to say, this weekend was an adventure with a 6 week old and 4 dogs...all of us sleeping in one room, another night I put up my 4-person tent in the yard, and then last night we stayed at one of the casino resorts. Hopefully this morning they will get it fixed! But back to you, Kyle...I've found that with older homes, especially if it was owned by a long-time owner, they were less likely to do a bunch of s***ty DIY projects or 15 different updates to the bathroom, which only increases your odds of some crooked contractor doing a shady job. Our house, while dated in many aspects, is built like a freaking fortress. Nearly every contractor I've had come over has marveled at the build quality and design. If you are planning on using a contractor to do some of those updates, I HIGHLY encourage you to invest in an Angie's list account so you can see reviews and hold these guys accountable with a potential negative review. I can't speak highly enough of some of the contractors I have found using Angie's list. Again, congrats! Hope you got a big yard for that family of yours (both 2-legged and 4-legged)! Thanks Shack, much appreciated. It is a very solid house. Roof, Windows, siding, furnace, AC all new within the last 5 years. My only issue is that we have old school wiring romex and another kind(cant remember which). It is an actual breaker box with old fuses, very dated. it is grandfathered in, so any rehab project I start, will begin with the rewiring of the house I am assuming.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) He's an .800 OPS player controlled through 2017. How many .800 OPS guys are there currently on the White Sox team? Why is he being passed around MLB teams like the town bike? And his career OPS is not .800, it is .719. The guy has been exposed against righties, he is what he is. He crushes lefties and sits down against righties

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) Valencia isn't a "placeholder" if used properly. Yes he is. Everyone knows he is a platoon player when lefties are pitching. That is a placeholder for a fulltime player that will take his job

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) Or if you buy a house that doesn't need any work because of problems, but your wife gets bored with the dated, yet entirely functional and ok looking bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, landscaping, etc. Not that I have any personal experience with that or anything... This is already being planned. But it is the both of us. THe house IS dated, it is owned by a couple in their 80s, and it is like stepping back into time when you walk inside, with some of the tile and wall paneling. Its all good though, it is functional, and the house is in great shape.

Jared Fogle/Subway scandal...presumption of guilt?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) He made his living telling people not to eat donuts. You didn't think the cops would eventually go after him? *mild golf clap* -
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 07:18 AM) But he is a placeholder. We eventually need a run producer at 3rd especailly based on 2nd and SS. Saladino and Sanchez can fight out 2nd next year in ST. They both look more like .240 ML hitters w a good to very good glove Valencia is a placeholder. Switching out placeholders isnt exactly taking steps in resolving the problem

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) Don't tell me how to live my life, neither of you are my dad, you both have your own kids to worry about. You need our help, wite. Your texting with eminor3rd has become an obsession

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) Seahawks went from like 30th in the league on salary cap money towards QB to 2nd. Also Bobby Wager is a free agent after this year. Can't pay everyone. Well, they just paid Bobby Wagner. So they must plan on paying everyone http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13363697...tract-extension

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Woohoo! Congrats. Same area or are you moving? Not far, Lake in the Hills.

Speaking of houses, as of August 5, I will own my first house. Finally got it done

Correia poked the bear, and got mauled. Back to the end of the line with Bethe. Kind of sucks that we have to see Tate get the arm bar a third time

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) Sadly, this is what a half a century's worth of ineptitude can do to a fan base. "Be happy" for a "79-83" record because you got to see "some OK players take the field for the Sox"? I mean, really? You are perfectly fine settling for that because, why? We can tell a Cubs fan we've been to the World Series more recently than their team has? Really? Do Cardinals or Yankees or Giants or Red Sox fans have this kind of mindset and set the bar this low? Holy moly - Sox management must love you. "Accept our mediocrity, don't be mad at our routine meager results, and oh, by the way, while yer at it, come to our park, buy our tickets, purchase our parking, food and merchandise, and watch us on TV. And oh, how do ya like our OK players? Don't they look great in the '83 unis?" Lol - GMAFB!! Drunk sarcasm obviously doesn't cut through your unending desire to complain about Reinsdorfs ownership in every post your make

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) Here is my text to Eminor3rd: "The White Sox bring back Viciedo. Of course they do. Can't they ever move on?" At the end of the day, it's a busted talented prospect who's young and has MLB experience who could be something but....naaaaahhhh. Who is this posting

Jared Fogle/Subway scandal...presumption of guilt?
Kyyle23 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) So what, substantively, has he actually been accused of here? Guilt by suspicion or the company you keep? Because he's "creepy" or has made a few inappropriate/creepy comments? He is being investigated for possible underage sex with a minor. I don't really understand why you are acting like the media is driving a lynch mob here. Nobody said anything about it until the FBI raided his house. Whatever would they do that Caulfield? Do you honestly think it is because your mythical "someone" is jealous of him and wants to bring him down? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) http://news.yahoo.com/report--jared-fogle-...-201648545.html The media's really getting good at throwing a lot of stuff at the wall and hoping some of it sticks (not unlike that recent NY Times Hillary e-mails story). Maybe Fogle doesn't come across as being a particularly likable dude (perception), but not sure he deserves this insinuation without something more substantive in terms of proof. There's probably enough to worry Subway and cause them to cut ties, but how many times has someone made a comment about a 16 year old or 17 even on SoxTalk...and ended up having a woman getting a secret microphone and copying all their messages to the FBI? Would any of this be happening if he wasn't worth $15 million or whatever and someone is jealous/envious and trying to knock him off his pedestal? Why are you blaming the media? The story broke when the FBI raided his house. -
This is more disappointing than the trade deadline

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) Viciedo signing makes more sense Lmao. Yea, I would love to see him look overmatched some more in a white sox uniform. As if we didn't get enough before

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) then why put a pitch restriction on anyone. why spread out a pitcher starts, why when a game is out of reach, they bring in a player to substitute... the answer is easy.... the fear of the unknown > injury. Putting a pitch restriction on someone isn't remotely close to shelving a pitcher for the final two months of the season because there is some outlandish chance that the pitcher hurts himself. That is ridiculous

The greatest benefit of trading for Cespedes is Quintana not having to pitch to him for the rest of this season

I wish people weren't so eager to trade Adams

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Corey Zangari will defy odds and become first phenom HS with power to become a player since....I don't remember the last one. Bryce Harper? Prince Fielder?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) Inside the Cell it is the same bowl. The original upper deck was just like Kauffman (way too steep). Jerry wanted a functional park like Kauffman and he got it. For the team, it's perfect: clubhouses, locker rooms, managers offices, staff offices. For fans it's a blah place that is very acceptable in terms of comfort. ok greg
