QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) I have a hard time seeing the Yankees write him a $60 million check. Agreed. The Boss would have done it, without thinking twice. But Hank is no George -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) If the Yankees really want to be done with ARod, I wonder what their next move is. He's eligible to return next season and will likely be healthy, and if he's healthy, they can't put him on the DL. Do they DFA him? Girardi said a few weeks ago that he expects Arod to be at third next season http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseba...r-third-baseman I wonder if that is lip service or if he knows the Yankees arent buying him out -
wow, Pacers locked up Vogel http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11664029...-indiana-pacers I thought they would take a cautious route with him seeing how that team swan dived in the second half last season

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) After looking through the article...one thing that stood out to me is that the steroid era is not discussed. That's a big part of this too. Roger Clemens in 1997 was a guy in his mid 30s coming off 2 of the worst seasons of his career who relied heavily on his fastball that was probably starting to betray him. There are plenty of ways that signing him could have gone badly had you not predicted that he'd find a guy to stick needles in his ass. That article also focuses heavily on "lineup protection" when there have been convincing arguments here that its more important just because you drive in the guy who is on base, not in the lineup protection part. And this is a totally different article if the Sox make a playoff run in 1994. Which, sadly, was stopped because of their own owner.

I think Schueler just ended up staying in place while the MLB GM game passed him by. He was very into homegrown talent and not trading assets, which was the way things were done when he started. But he never really adapted to the way the game changed, until(ironically) the White Flag trade.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) RDJ was on Stern and said there are no plans for IM4. Said Gibson probably wouldn't want to direct anyway. I think as soon as RDJ agrees to, or declines IM4, plans for IM4 will appear.

So, who is Mattinglys replacement? Can't wait to hear the real story behind Puig getting benched yesterday.

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't get it. It is the Posey call

Giants are going to get the play at the plate again

Good lord Bryce Harper

I liked the Flash, it was well done

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 04:02 PM) Spidey means Marvel can do Civil War and he'd add an interesting dynamic to a team of heroes with public identities. And if Marvel ever does Civil War, it'd shatter any and all box office records. I think they are going to finish the Thanos story before they crack open the Civil war

RDJ got a huge payday for Avengers/IM3/Avengers 2+3. I can only imagine what Marvel is throwing at him to continue being Tony Stark

Jay has warts, i get it. But some people will never get over the fact that he isnt Aaron Rodgers. Newsflash, there is only one. There is worse options out there, and even though the bears settled for the cute fat chick for 3 years, its much better than settling for fat chick one night stands for 20 years And I apologize for continuing that analogy. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) The curl route was covered the fly was wide open. If jay recognized this as marshall did it would have been a touchdown. Whatever miscommunication happened between jay and marshall we will never hear, but Trestman clearly called out Marshalls f*** up post game. -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) Football IQ. "I think he's not running the right route, better check the other receivers..." It was a timing route, he threw it before Marshall was supposed to curl. He never curled and shields was right there waiting for it. If Marshall curled, he would have shielded the defender, like the play is designed. His pick across the middle to Tramon Williams was awful, no doubt. But the pick to Shields was on marshall -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) How is it that other QBs are sometimes able to go hundreds of pass attempts without an INT when they have to deal with such things? I know, i know. Nobody else throws interceptions -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) You can keep parroting sorry ass defense but that doesn't change the fact that Jay wouldn't fare any better. The Packers don't have a good defense... as a matter of fact, Jay was able to throw at will on the Packers and still ended up throwing interceptions. To add to this, these weren't the DB just made a good play picks they were Jay being Jay type picks.Things that make you go hmmm... except, you know, Marshall running the wrong route. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) Puig benched for Ethier in game 4. Interesting move Donnie Baseball. Caulfield, your move

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) How did Sony get the rights to Spiderman to begin with? when Marvel went bankrupt, they sold off the big properties. Sony got Spiderman, Fox got Xmen and Fantastic 4. Then Marvel cleaned themselves up and made a move with the Avengers

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 12:13 PM) It would make the lame ass Spidey reboot look better? It would open the world up some more. And hopefully get some better writing. The first reboot was good, the sequel was a mess

Sony has to smarten up and realize that lending Spiderman to Marvel would make money for everyone. A metric f***-ton of money. AND it would allow them to bring a little bang back to the spiderman franchise after Spiderman 2 bombed
