Lofton wouldn't be signed as a starter. If anything he'd be Timo's replacement in the outfield. I personally think he's a much better option than Perez.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Pierre and Pods would be a "1-2 punch" that opponents could laugh at. Neither can hit lefties, and neither are that talented with the bat. If they do get on, then yes, they can run, but they can also get thrown out a hell of a lot, which is not a good thing to have happen when the meat of your order is coming up. Just so you know, Pierre has consistently hit for average against lefties BETTER than righties. I guess opponents laughed at Pierre and Castillo when the Marlins won their last World Series.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) It's hard to imagine Topher Grace being Venom, but hopefully they do it. From what I understand, this is the last Spiderman. There is no way that this will be the last Spiderman. They're going to make em until they don't make money anymore.

With all the talk about trading for Manny, I wonder why no one has mentioned Todd Helton. The Rockies would be willing to eat up substantial dollars on his contract in order to get rid of him, IMO definately moreso than the Red Sox would for Ramirez. It might take some substantial trading materials, but I feel it would be worth the price if we lose Konerko to the 14-15 million a year range. Konerko and Helton are on par with eachother when it comes to defense, and while Helton is assisted by Coors Field, he walks more, strikes out less, hits for a higher average, and hits lefty. He might be headed towards the downside of his career, but he's still a MLB number 3 hitter, his contract is short and Rogowski may be ready for 07.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) They havn't announced CY Young yet . . . I think it's safe to assume that no one from the Sox will win the Cy Young. I think Rivera will end up winning.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) According to numbers, he's the worst, and has been for awhile now. what numbers might those be?

i'm so sick of all this whining and crying about how their not giving it their all and blah blah blah. you think these guys don't want to win? eat a dick.

Don't know if this was posted or not, but Gammons actually picked our White Sox over his beloved Red Sox in 5.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX DIVISION WINNER!!!!
WSFAN35 replied to AddisonStSox's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I really hope that everyone who said there was no way the White Sox were going to gold on to the division eats a big healthy bag of dog s***. -

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) If they lose, they lose, its a f***ing game... you want real life, go talk to the folks of New Orleans that have no possessions anymore. Go talk to the almost 3000 families that lost a relative or friend from 9/11. Then realize how STUPID it is to live and die by the White Sox and the game of baseball!!! Baseball is entertainment, if its not entertaining you, turn it off and go do something productive Ah, the voice of reason... a voice seldom heard on Soxtalk.com

I'd like to see KW go after Todd Helton. You can say he makes too much, but Colorado will be willing to pay a healthy portion of his salary to get him off of their books. He'll probably end up costing less than hanging onto PK, and if I have to choose between Helton and PK, I go with Helton.

What about the possibility of Bill Mueller playing first, or Kevin Millar?

Where will Sox will rank in minor league talent?
WSFAN35 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) If Podsednik was an all-star, even if it was final vote, Owens has the potential to be there. Totally agreed, the kid hasn't had a whole lot of time to sharpen his baseball skills after playing football in college. He's going to learn to take more pitches and improve his OBP while maintaining a high average. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Star over, unfortunately. It sucks that if Boston was in the lead, they probably would have found a way to get 5 innings in.

Dumb question... does the game pick up where we left off, or start over?

QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) Good news for the White Sox. They won. Hell Yeah! Good new for the Tigers. They're still better than Kansas City. Detroit Tigers: No longer the Ralph Wiggum of baseball. I'd say they're the Milhouse Van Houten of baseball

QUOTE(palehose23 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) TO ALL THE PEOPLE JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS- Rooney's favorite team growing up = Cardinals Cardinals moving to a new station and word is that they are not happy with Wayne Hagin (post Todd Helton statements) and Rooney would fit perfectly in St. louis. Give it some thought- I believe Rooney is calling the shots and heading down south. You're forgetting that some people have all the inside information It's funny how people refuse to reserve judgement before receiving all the facts.

I for one am happy that Paulie just tried to poke it out there and score the run instead of going for a home run.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Hope we don't face any lefties in October. Means Pods won't play. He's hitting 322 against lefties.

This petition isn't going to get John Rooney back. It's a done deal. Personally, I'd like to see Dave Wills be given the job. He left because he wanted a broadcasting job with the Sox and couldn't get it because they already had Rooney and Farmer, now the job is his. Not sure about his contract situation with the Devil Rays, but I think he is a logical replacement.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Hey, we couldnt win games against Texas in Texas, and the Tigers have an amazing pitching staff compared to Texas. Texas is a much better home team than road team. The Tigers and the Rangers pitching staffs suck equally. Even if it is the Tigers though, at least our boys will get some confidence back and have some swagger before they go on to face tougher teams.
-
I don't know why everyone's jumping to the conclusion that either the Sox didn't pony up enough money to keep him around, or they actually pushed him out. For all any of us know it was Rooney's decision to retire, or at least get away from broadcasting 162 games a year. Get your facts straight before you start talking about how the Sox made the stupidest mistake ever, and how you're going to go to Soxfest and punch management in the face.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Idonno if they should actually release Hutchinson or just demote him to 3rd string... he is still better than Krenzel or Quinn were last year. I think Turner is too in love with Kittner to let Hutchinson stay on the roster.
