  1. we are saving all of our home dramatic wins for the best AL teams in the playoffs...right?
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Well... being big in the front can cause back trouble. Just ask David Wells. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His name isn't David Wells! It is FATASS!
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) Totally agree. Wow, there is a lot of credential showing and chips on shoulders about this topic. I understood Mike's statement completely. Every sports teams has fair weather fans, White Sox included. We have tons of bandwagon jumpers in my neighborhood and I suspect all of you do too. It's the nature of sports. If you can go, great. If you can't, whatever. My dad hasn't been to a game at U.S. Cellular in two years, he's one of the biggest Sox fans around. Of course, he lives in Arizona Talk about a tough commute! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you get him a subscription to mlb.tv? If not it is an absolute life saver.
  4. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Speak for yourself. I LOVE small crowds. Easy in/out, no wait for the bathrooms or concessions, great seats.... even when walking up, and small crowds usually mean diehard crowds. I actually got pissed off this summer with the amount of fairweathers I saw with great seats while I had to settle for what was left because I wouldn't know if I'd be able to go until the last minute with my regular work schedule and OT. And alot of the people that were showing up were CUB FANS that felt it necessary to come to USCF and cheer AGAINST the White Sox because their team was tanking. Remember THAT when the media tells you that Cub fans don't care about the Sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly! BTW Albert Belle loved small crowds....it made his throws shorter.... same holds true for the battery chuckers....i used to love the outfield battery chuckers and of course those beloved fans who loved to dump beer on the Tigers players heads at old comiskey. Big crowd or not...ESPN will never know about it....
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) And then you'd have a mediocre payroll. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> + Quicker trips to the head, shower, nacho line, & beer tap! Lasts years attendance average was how many? & we still managed to create this team?
  6. I have said this before and will say it again. I would much prefer having only 15,000 diehards in the stands than 40,000 corporate wannabefansforanightwhositontheirhandsandeatnachos. I never get back to chicago for a game, but when i listen to the games on mlb radio or tv it is louder with only 15,000. It allows the obnoxious diehards a chance to move down closer to the field and really band together. I love small crowds.
  7. DAM aso Marte has officially lost his confidence....s*** s*** s***! i know that jerry manuel had alot to do with that...the way he kept punking the poor guy.
  8. JC got his confidence from the Boston & NY games. Nice to see the Yanks let go too early and we gave him what he needed! So much for the proverbial sophomore slump eh?
  9. when i see JB swing and miss by 2-3 feet i really question his ability to pick up the ball.
  10. message from uribe sox fans...please don't talk no trash about me no more
  11. this game is actually a huge game for the WS. this could be the difference between home field advantage when all is said & done.
  12. KW protects the kids! We will never know but I really like the way KW handled the org before trade deadline. Something tells me we were getting low balled like a mother for BMac & KW said to everyone..."what? you can kiss my ass for that offer!"....even though most of you guys were whining about obtaining another bat. i agree with oz that another speed guy is probably the next move.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) You know what it is? "You chow up late, you not gonna play dat game. Ok? Willeeey start tomorrow too." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is hilariously funny! Nice one!
  14. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Furcal > Konerko. Not sure if it will play out where we get Raffy but you gotta figure its a one or the other situation. Here's a question and I don't even know if he's a free agent and people here seem to hate Darin Erstad but would you rather have Konerko/Uribe or Furcal/Erstad? If we got Furcal and Erstad we will have gone from having no leadoff hitter before this year to having about 4 which is kind of funny. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> lets not forget how quickly furcal got arrested for the dui! he drinks faster than his throws to first at least he did...
  15. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:52 AM) so says bruce levine, who has apparently decided the sox may indeed make a trade after all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hmmmm....... i remember bringing this topic up earlier in the season...how the sox & cubs should help each other...boy how i got slammed then! F me!
  16. BTW who was our spark off the bench in 2000? We really need a guy like Gload to go to battle in the tough spots!
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 07:25 AM) Some people are way too quick to jump on a guy for a few things he says. What are the chances that any of his teammates really cared about what he said. I'm sure the entire team is shaken now because Ross Gload says he wants to play a bit more. Some people take a couple sentences WAY to seriously. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No doubt about it! Can't you just see it when PK goes home to wife and just starts saying....OMG honey you'll never guess what happened to me at work today....HA HA HA!!!
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) I know Gload is frustrated, but the last thing we need is for a bench player to put himself above the team with a month left in the regular season. I have a feeling that it's stuff like this which is why he's never been a favorite of KW/Ozzie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really liked his candid comments. To me I want to see the kind of fight he has in him. What did we want him to say? Something along the lines of well I am now happy to be back with the team and I will contribute in any way possible to help this team win...yatta yatta yatta? I am glad he came out and spoke his mind. Now we all know that he is extremely competitive and that he wears his heart on his sleeve. It is obvious that he is kinda indirectly calling out some uppers, but I have never seen a team win a WS that didn't have some competitive fire. To me I saw emotion in Gload last year, positive emotion, the kind that you don't wanna take off the field....he wants to play, proved he can, and was treated like used baggage. Sox fans alike will be the first to have confidence in Gload when he steps up to deliver!
  19. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) We have a cool-aid drinker! I, at no point, criticized any player for anything beyond their performance on the field. I don't think you're being very honest if you want a site where can never criticize a player or team. Try reading again - I have said several times that I hope the Sox turn this around, but you obviously aren't interested in anything but pats on the back for this team. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As I drink my coolaid I wonder what kind of Sox fan would ever CLAIM as you put it so incorrectly per verbatim spiderman...."the white sox are done". i don't care what comes after that. do you work for the trib? do you need to really stir up attention to your clever little "the white sox are done" to get a thread started? what kind of cred do you have after you make such a claim? don't ask me jack ask the likes of players in the organization! Actually I would like to see how COOL you are in proclaiming to KW's face that "The White Sox ARE DONE". BTW, exactly what was the motive behind proclaiming "the whitesox are done"? of course we all know that not to be true, but why state something that eats at the heart of a fan? when gooch has a bad game MB doesn't say you are done dude, instead he makes light of the situation and tries to pick em up. Try calling the postgame show and tell em "the whitesox are done" and see how many friends you make! :banghead
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) My negativity is completely justified. This team hasn't done s*** in my lifetime, or yours. The last time we were in the playoffs we got disgraced. Last WS in 1917, throwing one more recently. Last appearance in 1959, and we haven't even won a playoff series in the lifetimes of the majority of this board's members. Yet we're going to depend on a spark from some overhyped minor leaguers and then some other minor leaguers that are garbage? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you are like me then you certainly feel like the strike years were WS that we could've won? You are also failing to mention that as soon as the SOX are out of the playoff chase we become an unbeatable team and run off consecutive wins like no other.
  21. the texas rangers announcers brought up interesting points today: 1. last time sox were 80-50 they made the WS 2. frank thomas games played = 1959. also sox buddy of mine told me that team to reach 50 wins first had won something like 80% of WS
  22. OMG i just read 8 pages of how the mods were going to start modding the site against topics like this...."THE WHITE SOX ARE DONE"??? Hey mods let's assume that ozzie, kw, any sox player in the organization, hawk were to be passed this topic and asked to respond....hmmmmmm WHAT DO YOU EXPECT AS A REPLY FROM THEM? they might say something politically correct, but i don't have to, so i just want to continue to say it for them, THIS TOPIC IS JUST A USELESS ATTEMPT AND A SLAP IN THE FACE OF THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION! even if the points are in good taste the topic itself deserves major questioning! CANT YOU MODS PLEASE just recognize that the topic needs to be changed to something like "THE SOX ARE STRUGGLING" which in itself is a no brainer......I would like to contribute to this site, but I really get so frustrated reading posts here!
  23. QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Walter, jordan and ......AROW what an odd list. Anyone who knows any stories about the "behind the scenes" mjeff would never claim that you can't poke fun at him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Walter would run over any obstacle, Jordan wouldn't allow anyone to beat him including little kids, and Arow runs thru walls....TOUGH guys...GET IT? If that is odd to you?
