QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) Great deal for Pittsburgh. Glad we don't have to see Clement for the next six years. Clement is 25 and nowhere near figuring it out.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) Supposedly the Hawks say they knew about his injury before signing him... QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) Which was probably discovered during the .... PHYSICAL Then why wasn't it brought up when they were running their new signees out there for a nice, clean Press Conference? This just reeks... if they knew, then be up front. As a fan who has enjoyed the way things have gone of recent, there have been enough muckups for anyone to question it and be a tad turned off by said events. Blackhawks offseason timeline - Yay! Marian Hossa! We're amazing! - report comes out that players were not offered contracts - Hawks brass immediately refutes it as "no big deal" and say things will be fine - moments later, first contracts are signed for players who should have had cheap contracts - things start sounding worse, big money going to have to be paid if NHLPA files grievence... which happens - burn millions of unneeded dollars for failure to mail contracts - fire dale tallon - tons of reports saying it was in fact Stan Bowman's fault, who was promoted - reports start flying that McDonough has been forcing big contracts - Hossa injured? - Front Office: no big deal - Hossa injured! - Front Office: we knew all along... we piss on 12-year deals - Hossa out 4 months! It's just a clusterf***. I want the team to be honest to me, which they obviously have not been much of lately.

The amount of people saying the overlooking of Hossa's injury is "no big deal" is shocking to me. There's no way the front office knew about this injury at the time of the signing, despite what they say.

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) Anderson is bad and Wise is bad. They're both bad. It's like flipping a coin and getting pissed about it landing 'tails' instead of 'heads'. Option A: Gold Glove caliber defense, .322 OBP, 27 years old. Option B: OK defender, .228 OBP, 31 years old.

I still say that the Sox should deal as many non-Beckham spects as it takes to land Dan Haren.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) Kotsay can't really play CF anymore. Wise is our defensive replacement in CF. That's never been a concern for us before, I don't see why we'd start now. The Sox said "to hell" with defense in centerfield when they gave away Brian Anderson and to keep Wise on the roster. Wise is no amazing defensive player in CF, either. Not terrible, not by a long shot, but he's no BA.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) I can't handle anymore Wise starts. He doesn't deserve another start with this team. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. HE MADE A CATCH. HE IS A GOLDEN GOD AND HE'S HITTING .185 WITH A .228 OBP. HE NEEDS TO LEAD OFF MORE THAT MAKES US SEXY WINNERS. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) What a season for Mark. Now if only Pods could catch...

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) What does Josh Field's demotion have to do with Wise? Um, roster spot?
-
So we get rid of decent, young-ish backups to keep Wise and his .190-something batting average on the roster. He DID make a catch, I guess. Don't get me wrong, Fields sucks, I'm just comparing the level of suck of Dewayne Wise.

Lollapalooza. Less than two weeks away.

Favre will stay retired. It's finally, officially, mercifully dead.

Kotsay is a pretty solid player... -
Wait, so you're saying the federal government should have applied the funding to the root of the problem in America versus just throwing tons of money in all directions and praying it worked? I don't see logic behind that.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) Tyler Flowers can't come soon enough. AJ's act is getting old. Rot in hell.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) They are NOT a good team, they are having such a fluke season. Half of their team is hitting below 250. Their run differential is quite a bit better than ours. +32 vs +1
