QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 07:29 AM) Too often actually. I can get what they do by going to Soxtalk and listening to people scream at each other. Well "no substance" is purely false. They know what the hell they are talking about.

QUOTE (SnB @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) My wife got me a fossil for Christmas. I only wear it for fancier occasions, otherwise it just feels awkward. You're a waste of money.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) That is their entire show. Zero substance. You don't tune in often.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Because all of you jackasses loved B&B, I decided to listen to them over CJH, and wow. I like them so much better, haha. I don't care for Boers because the way he speaks irritates me and I think he is a moron a lot of times, but despite Bernstein's jackassness, I love him. Thanks for converting me. You'll be hooked forever, it's like a drug. -

At this rate, Richmond will never play in the NBA, let alone be near as good as Irving. And saying Howard led him down this path? LMAO. Go away uncle dumbass. -

This is a message board, yes? You make it sound like the entire season is played in awful weather games. Mind you the season starts in September. Does it really make a huge difference if there is a roof over the field, thereby making it better conditions = a better played game? -

First off weather is something that happens, no team plans their strategy/roster around it. I am not 9 years old, so I get over the "HEY LOOK IT'S SNOWING" thing pretty quickly when a game is on. I want teams and players to perform at their best, and have the optimal conditions to do so. Who cares if that is indoors? I'd rather watch that than a December championship game with a foot of snow on the ground, neutralizing the teams. Why do people b**** about the field at Soldier Field? Who cares then? They should just be able to play in a cow pasture, who cares about field quality. -
I could care less about being with Minnesota, as it's not the Stars.

First off, isn't Indy retractable? So they could leave it open if the weather is not awful. They do it to give the players the best possible opportunity to play well, and not have the game partially/mainly decided by a s*** show of weather. There's a reason they put all the important bowl games/nc in good weather. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Should be a fun year in the Big 10, my only complaint is the selection of Indy for the title game. It should be outdoors because that is what Big 10 football is about. This again? BEAR WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!111!!!1!!!1!!1111! BIG TEN WEATHER!!!!11!1!!11111!!!1 -

Come on, would anyone have got a maximum effort out of Jereme Richmond? Guy is an ass bag, plain and simple. That's not a good example. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:39 PM) Dale Tallon, Chicago LOVES you so much right now! Thanks for taking the horrible contract You/McDonough originally signed! Fixed

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) Brouwer is pretty replaceable as a power forward by Beach, so that was a great value trade by the Hawks. Beach has a LONG way to go. I'm fine moving Brouwer.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) You can't deny that he helped the Blackhawks immensely when he came back though. Well, yeah, which means he's better than John Scott, Nick Boynton, and Jordan Hendry...never denied that.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) I do watch games, but you can look at stats, too. You simple can't be bad defensively and put up a +28. He is much better defensively than his reputation said when the Hawks signed him. Is he a top-10 defensive defensemen in the NHL? No. But he didn't hurt us this year in the least. Plus/minus is the most overrated stat in hockey anyway. In his own end, playing defense, he is indeed bad. His coverage is awful, and he's soft as hell behind the line and in front of the net. His puck moving once he has it is good, as is his play in the neutral and offensive zones, but actual defense in his zone, not good.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) Um, yes. People bashed him when he came here for his defense. But he was very solid this year and last year. You don't have a +28 being bad defensively. He was better than Seabrook this year, and many times was playing better than Keith. He's not good defensively. Do you watch games, or just look at stats?

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Just heard on The Score that there are rumors B. Campbell has been traded to Columbus. I am skeptical of anyone picking up that contract, but could be interesting... All over Twitter, too. That would be a huge move. I really love Campbell but he just isn't worth his near-max deal. If he was playing at half his salary, he would be perfect for this team. Very underrated defensively. Um, what the f***?

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) I can't believe Philly unloaded like that. They got younger up front and better in goal, but jesus, that leaves them with no depth. LA is going to be scary next year with Penner, Kopitar, and Richards. Penner's really not that good, he's living off that big year in Anaheim, and that other year in Edmonton.

Congratulations to Demetri McCamey and Jereme Richmond. You got to 4th and 9th best respectively on Jay Bilas' "Best Available." So much for those of you that thought someone would for sure gamble on Richmond. Wear it, Jereme. -
Owner told management he wanted Bryz at any cost. And there's your result. He basically pulled a McDonough.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Much ado about nothing, indeed. And only here at Soxtalk is anyone even accusing AJ of showing up Peavy. Nowhere else is that even being mentioned or speculated about as being the possible cause of the little argument. And neither AJ nor Peavy seem to have been as offended by whatever happened as some here were. Well that's because I'm apparently the only one that went back and looked at it. It happened. The end. It's hard to speculate when it wasn't the obvious thing on TV everyone saw, it could really only be seen by replaying it because it was during a play, not a dead ball. Do you think Peavy/AJ were going to say exactly what happened? Of course not, that doesn't do anyone any good. What he did? That s*** doesn't fly with teammates. Of course they are letting it go now, they are teammates, kind of stupid to keep holding that grudge past that inning. If you are surprised that it's still not an issue, I don't know what to tell you. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) AJ needs to take a lesson from Jonathan Toews IMO. Good one. I'm not sure if you have made a meaningful contribution in any thread since you've been here. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) Peavy is the last guy on this team who can play the "teammate card." The reason they are using a 6 man rotation is solely because of him. Further, I'm sure every sox fan was screaming at their TV yelling at Ozzie to pull him. For a guy who himself calls himself a bulldog, he sure got butthurt at body language. Don't like it Jake? Make your damn pitches, and get the next hitter out to prove AJ you were not done. He didn't sack up with the next hitter. Period. Again, doesn't matter if it was Peavy, it's the principle of what he did. Whether or not he should be pulled or fans are yelling, doesn't make what AJ did in that situation right. It's amazing how many people are missing the whole point of this just because it was Jake on the mound and not Buehrle.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) The only evidence of Kaner drinking has been fairly light (ok, he may have skipped on a cabbie bill, but he was 19). He's a young kid with oodles of cash who can bang any chick he pleases, and he goes to bars. It hasn't effected him on the ice yet, and these rumors are all unsubstantiated. I'm not saying he's in rehab, but some games, it sure looks like something's going on, so you don't know that for sure. And the rumor of missed practices? Well of course that's never going to be confirmed, no one would back that. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, who knows.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) I finally read the media reporting on this. Everybody on here is blaming AJ. The Sun Times article makes no mention of any AJ gestures, only this from Peavy: SUN TIMES As Peavy walked off, he gestured with his glove toward Pierzynski on the mound. After Chris Sale pitched out of the jam, Peavy and Pierzynski, still wearing his mask, stood face-to-face in the dugout near the tunnel to the clubhouse, exchanging words. The White Sox telecast showed the confrontation. Although Peavy denied it, the best guess was that the issue involved pitch calling, something Pierzynski excels at. “That’s a misunderstanding with the sign or whatever, you have to ask them first,” Guillen said. “One thing, when they have a problem, we discuss, we talk about it and then move on. I don’t think it was a big deal.” This thread easily could have been a Peavy bashing thread if Peavy made the gesture. Just because the article doesn't say anything about AJ gestures doesn't mean it didn't happen, because watching the game, it for sure did. Unless you were looking for it live, or rewound it on TV, it was hard to catch because the play was still going on. When there is a meeting at the mound, that's the only thing you're staring at, so everyone saw what looked like Jake starting it. It started before it.

LOL at anyone who thinks AJ was responsible for getting Peavy lifted from the game. Wow.
-
It's amazing how many people are using their hate of Peavy/contract to defend AJ's actions. It doesn't matter who the pitcher or catcher was in the situation. It's irrelevant.
