  1. Again, why are we pretending that this is a new thing for Tony? These accusations have followed him for decades, so this isn't anything to do with RIGHT NOW.
  2. If you are still doing this at 76, you have a pretty big problem.
  3. Hopefully this is more of a situation where the Braves wanted their guy versus this is what the market is going to look like.
  4. I could be wrong, but I feel like Harden is never going to be the guy who wins you a title as your biggest star. Maybe in a place like Brooklyn with other stars, but he just doesn't seem conducive to winning it all.
  5. If you eliminate the over the mouth, but not the nose crowd, we are probably closer to 50%.
  6. You are missing part of that equation for the White Sox.
  7. The Sox really valued the fact they could move their kids around in short order within the entire system. I think I remember reading that if you dropped Arizona and Great Falls, the rest of the teams were within a four hour drive of each other.
  8. The only thing I can think of is maybe a prorated signing bonus?
  9. Just looking at people when I go places, while 85% say they are wearing them, 85% are NOT wearing them correctly.
  10. Here is an early tweet that seems to confirm.
  11. Yoan is about to get 6.8 million, so I would bet on the lower number being right. Considering the initial term is 6/43, the 3.5 million seems right.
  12. With Cooper it really felt like when he tried to work with a pitcher who wasn't having success, he liked to strip him down to the bare bones and have them work primarily with the fastball. Once they found their control, then they tried to add back their off-speed stuff next. With Cease, I think Coop wanted to see fastball control, and had him minimize reps with the curveball until they could get him spotting the fastball.
  13. I know I have said it before, but he looked like a kid trying to do too much. He didn't just forget his baseball IQ, it really felt like someone who was trying to make an impression and win a job all in one play.
  14. I agree those will be close to the final answer, but they shouldn't be. Personally I think Vaughn, but only if he could bring a top pitcher, makes the most sense to deal for a front line guy. Why? #1, the offense is already loaded, and will be for years. #2, Vaughn is a 1B/DH type, despite the hype that he is trying out different positions, meaning he is the easiest to replace of the position players, plus we already have depth in those spots, especially if we bring back a James McCann. #3, We are way likely to need pitching depth over the next half decade than 1B/DH depth. Pitchers get hurt more often, they flame out more often, and have inexplicable periods of mediocrity. Even if we have pitching depth, it might not last.
  15. Madrigal getting to hit in that gigantic OF would probably hit .350 and have 30 triples a season. All of that space to play with and his bat control? It would be fun to watch.
  16. The other thing of note here is I wonder if the Sox are contemplating a trade mostly to open up roster slots for the guys they want to protect, knowing they are going to lose people to the Rule 5 or waivers anyway?
  17. If I had to bet, I would bet on Johnson being the most likely.
  18. Jake Burger is an interesting case. I wonder if this was the reason the Sox didn't share info from the remote site. I mean you make it as difficult as possible for teams to gather information on these guys so the picking them is even harder. Even if Jake Burger looked like he was expected to look when the Sox picked him, can you take up a 25/26 man roster space to take a chance on him, especially knowing you are probably picking at 1b/DH type.
  19. Seeing the stories about him campaigning to go to other teams while he was playing against specific teams, I kind of hope he ends up with the Knicks and they stay a perennial train wreck
  20. In a normal society where people listened to science and got their shots, it would be essentially herd immunity. In the US where half the country is brainwashed and anti-science, it would mean sporatic targeted outbreaks, but a gigantic reduction in the pandemic.
