  1. I didn't think you could make this worse, but bravo. This deal does absolutely nothing to prevent the team from signing anyone else, in fact quite the opposite. This deal in 2019 gives Eloy something like $5 million, and less in 2020 after the signing bonus is paid out.
  2. No. Different years. Different contracts.
  3. This isn't just one dude tweeting. The details are out down to dollars per each year and signing bonus.
  4. Definitely not the OF. If they think he isn't going to be at 2B in the future, I would rather make the move now than later. Let him learn while the results don't matter.
  5. The deal has been described as done pending a physical.
  6. Are you seriously saying that we should not have extended Eloy Jimenez because of 26 Spring Training ABs? Because if that is so, that might be the single hottest take in the history of Soxtalk hot takes. I give it 5 flames out of a possible 4. ?????
  7. What little I have seen, good. The lack of freakouts probably means he has been at least solid.
  8. The next guy they cram for service time.
  9. I don't think he will be able to get to 150 IP in a minor league season. Last year Kopech got to 126 in 24 starts. Cease got to 124 in 23 starts, so he is pretty well on the same pitching pace in terms of length of average outing.
  10. Realistically, if anyone was going to get rushed, it was going to be Eloy. The dude hit at every single level he was at. He was slowed. Madrigal will start off in A ball this year. Three levels in one year is insane for a hitter.
  11. So 6/40 up front, with at least $3 coming in the last year of a buyout. Very nice.
  12. I think he gets assigned to Charlotte until April 10 so he can get another couple of starts under his belt.
  13. 37 is the number being reported FWIW.
  14. This is the space to insert a SARs joke.
  15. Hahn said that Cease was on the Kopech plan, so this would make sense. They will want him to get his innings, and he won't be able to grow enough innings by not getting a call up, especially if he is pitching well.
