  2. Paul Skrbina‏ @ChiTribSkrbina 43m43 minutes ago "No news" on Corey Crawford, per Quenneville. Jean-Francois Berube will start in goal for Hawks tonight against the Sharks.
  3. Adam Hoge‏Verified account @AdamHoge 22m22 minutes ago Today's @whitesox lineup vs @Dodgers (2:05pm CT on @WGNRadio): 3B Yolmer Sanchez SS Tim Anderson 1B Jose Abreu RF Avi Garcia 2B Yoan Moncada DH Nicky Delmonico LF Ryan Cordell C Kevan Smith CF Adam Engel SP Dylan Covey
  4. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:52 AM) It also doesn't make much sense to hit SS or CF at DH just because you don't have roster space You have way more faith in these guys than I do. Most of the guys which are bandied about are going to fail. We don't have nearly as many starters as you think.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:41 AM) No. But CarGo doesn't exactly move the needle. I would rather see what the Sox do have right now. 11 OF on the 40 needs to be paired down. Let's see who can play. It will pare itself down. We still need to be trying to bring talent into the organization.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:26 AM) Cordell will be 26, if he needs more minor leagues, he isn't much of a prospect. Gillaspie is 25, he probably isn't ready his .210 average and .300 OBP in Charlotte is pretty good evidence. You also have Daniel Palka, Willy Garcia...if you would rather pay a few million to a washed up ex star because if he happens to be good you may acquire another guy you will pass over, I don't see the point. He also spent somewhere around 6 months down from a back injury, and may well need time to get back into shape both physically and mentally. Do you really think we have enough talent in the system as of today?
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 10:48 AM) Ironically, acquiring him could be at the playing time expense of these players. Although Gillaspie can use more time in Charlotte. That's pretty clear. But Cordell needs major league ABs or he will be another guy we all forgot existed in a year or two. We don't even know that these guys will be ready for the big leagues out of camp.
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 08:11 PM) http://www.statecollege.com/news/columns/c...arfare,1475607/ Article by Jay Paterno about fake news in college football. It's not what you think. Not surprised at all by this. The lengths that people go to for college sports is astounding. Something like this seems easy compared to funneling $100,000 to a player, etc.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 07:24 AM) Yeah but was any of that money spent on tattoos or strippers? Salty.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 06:58 AM) https://sports.yahoo.com/exclusive-federal-...-103338484.html Can you imagine an NCAA tournament without Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, Louisville, Maryland, Kentucky, NC State, Seton Hall, Washington, USC, Alabama, Texas, LSU, Kansas... and more?
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 10:33 AM) So if everything goes right, a previously pretty highly rated prospect who was struggling at the time of the trade. If we sign Gonzalez and he turns into a Casey Gillaspie or Ryan Cordell, I'd call that a win.
  12. Scheduled to throw today for the Sox. - Dylan Covey (RHP) - Tyler Danish (RHP) - Michael Ynoa (RHP) - Brian Clark (LHP) - Thyago Vieira (RHP) - Connor Walsh (RHP)
  13. As a potential reclamation project, it makes sense.
  14. For the record I have still yet to see anyone reputable saying that the Sox ARE TALKING to Moose, and not that he is the best logical fit for Moose.

  20. Rob Biertempfel‏ @RobBiertempfel 22m22 minutes ago As part of the Dckerson deal, the #Pirates sent $1 million to the Rays.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 01:19 PM) This. The Rays had 10 days to find a trade partner or he would become a free agent. He wasn't placed on waivers. Once he goes through the 7 (was just changed in last CBA) days, he can then be waived.
  22. QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 12:54 PM) That means that all AL teams didn't claim him, right? He was designated for assignment, not waived.

  25. QUOTE (Username @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 11:29 AM) We should also probably keep in mind that Machado might insist on playing SS, not 3B. That's his preference, and it's also conceivable that that becomes our biggest long-term need. If TA doesn't step it up then we'll need a long-term option there. And if he does, he's a valuable asset we could move or shift to another position. Money will speak louder than position. In fact I believe the reason he wanted to move back to SS is so that he could see himself as a SS instead of just at 3B.
