  1. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 20, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) This is essentially a way for them to lower their tax obligation in the Robert deal by 756k... yes? poop.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ May 20, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) Exactly. I get what SS is saying, but have to give the FO a lot of credit here. They focused in on an angle no one else could sell, and hit a HR. I have said all along the Sox have a great case to make to Robert. I will be curious what the monetary difference in bids was though.
  3. Will be interested to see if we get anything out of the Burjous deal as well.
  4. QUOTE (Tony @ May 20, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) @CSNHayes 10s Believe #WhiteSox were outbid. Also heard they wowed Luis Robert w/ video presentation from Renteria/Moncada/Abreu. bit.ly/2pWFhDj Wow How lucky can you get? This is a huge step forward in a group that needs all of the positional talent it can get. The Cuban pipeline and being a player friendly organization really did work out for them. Kudos to Hahn and the front office, now it is time to pray it works.
  5. Apparently we have gotten to the parsing individual words in tweets stage of the pursuit....
  6. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 20, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) Jon Greenberg, from the McGuffey thread, does claim his source says our offer will be "phenomenal", FWIW. HUGE
  7. Who will Luis Robert sign with and how much will it be for? Let's hear your predictions!
  8. Jason Benetti‏Verified account @jasonbenetti 10m10 minutes ago The @whitesox currently have a run differential of 0.
  9. Just incredible pitching from the two top guys on the trade list. Today was a good day.
  10. Latest rumors seem to be concentrated around the Cardinals and White Sox, but no official word is out, despite low level twitter reports claiming otherwise.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) And just how many of these guys have the Sox been able to develop? By all accounts, Robert is significantly better than your typical highly-ranked J2 guy That's just it, we don't know yet. But all of the sudden you could very well have at least two of them.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 19, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) Tatis and Micker were two highly touted international guys. A lot of the higher end guys seem to have deals in place next signing period. This is two years worth of signings. I do recall Tatis either being at the back end of the top 30, or just outside of it.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Yes, but previous history was at perhaps the worst ballpark in MLB history. Along with some pretty horrible baseball teams. There was a reason they were picked for Major League.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) sacramento is in really good position in this draft at 5 and 10. I really like this draft, glad we'll get some 5th year senior with injury problems and questionable athleticism. Of course I just read where players are refusing to work out for the Kings
  15. Very nice to see on Micker especially. This is a system begging for hitters to emerge, if he is starting to push past potential and towards his ceiling the system starts to look much better.
  16. While there are some great quotes through there, i had no idea that Kenny Williams Jr had become a scout.
  17. It is worth pointing out that if we win bidding for Robert, players like Tatis Jr and Micker Adolfo are the exact players that we aren't going to be able to sign for the next two years. I know people are saying that it is only money at this stage, but if guys like Micker and Tatis end up becoming starting to star level players in MLB (small odds I know) is it worth knowing that the Sox COULD have signed the next Tatis and Adolfo's in this deal as well. How much does that change the perception of a Robert deal, especially if he ends up closer to Alexei or Dayan, than he does Abreu?
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Timeless (haha typo the first time) is a different show. Timeless involves 2 time machines and a conspiracy to change the present by going back in time. I was thinking of Time after Time. It was so bad, they actually cancelled it midseason. Timeless was better, but still only meh at best. Could be better, but never hooked me.
  19. With the difference in walk rate and contact rate, I almost wonder if he is being too analytical in his approach. He is looking to take, and is too late in swinging when he gets a good pitch because he is looking to take more.
  20. From what I saw on Twitter a lot of Sox players stood up for Kanhle. Derrick Holland really went out of his way to defend him and point out how far over the line that Hawkins went in his attack on TK.
  21. QUOTE (Scoots @ May 19, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) Weird...you'd think the reigning AL champs would draw a nice crowd. I think the Sox drew an average of 36,000 something in 2006.Outside of their run in the 90's the Indians are one of the worst drawing teams in baseball history. There was about a ten year outlier period, but outside of that, this is closer to historical norms.
  22. Predicament? I don't think it means what you think it means.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ May 19, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) Yeah the Burr I saw captured the anger and disrespect from Burr that propelled it in act II. He was incredible. I liked Jefferson too. He's a very serious person in history but when you get past that it's hard not to view some of his writings in the same vein of a bratty college kid. I thought playing him as comic relief worked well. Yeah, don't take that as a dig on anyone. Quite literally I was not disappointed with a single character or actor. Lafayette/Jefferson did a great job, though I think he did a better job as Lafayette with the accent and different rap styles through the first act.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 16, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) Time travel shows havent been doing good. Timless almost was cancelled. Was that the one with HH Holmes and Wells as the main characters? Holy crap that was a steaming pile.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) I also went in Dec, glad I saw that first Chicago Burr. He was excellent, but obviously it's a good part as most people say Burr is best. Not the first time I have heard Chicago Hamilton was better. Manuel-Miranda's voice isn't the best. I saw Wayne Brady as Burr. He was PERFECT for the smarmy politician parts in the first half of the play, and his voice and stage presence were outstanding. I wasn't as impressed with the last parts when he was supposed to be angry and bitter. King George was actually my favorite character and actor, followed by Brady. Also big fan of George Washington and the Skyler sisters.
