  3. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 10, 2017 -> 03:49 PM) Fair enough all around but according to the report from our own Soxtalk scouting crew Delmonico does have a chance to stick at 3B. He has 8 errors in 70 chances. He isn't even making it to 9 out of 10 plays without making an error. That is just awful. His career Fielding% at 3B in the minors is .922.

  7. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ May 10, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Giolito would be best served by simply pitching better than he has thus far in the minor league. There isn't much more that can be said by him or by others to excuse or to explain poor performance. (0-5 7.31 ERA in the Minors). If only it were that easy.

  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 10, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) Right, which isn't much. There's also the downside risk keeping Todd as he's injury prone and if he can't pass a physical the Sox will come up empty. Realistically, no one has offered anything of value for him yet, or he would already be gone. You keep playing him in the hopes that eventually someone needs him, unless he turns into 2011 Adam Dunn. I mean, we are talking about a position for someone like Davidson, Saladino, Sanchez, etc. once it is Moncada time in Chicago. Personally I can't squint hard enough to see any of those guys as a starter on our next playoff team. Delmonico isn't going to be a major league 3B. He is absolutely awful at 3B. There isn't a real pressing need to move Frazier until the deadline if we don't get a decent offer for him.
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 10, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Eh, if you assume there are multiple clubs interested, then the Sox will be able to make a trade. I mean what's the downside risk? You lose a shot at a C+ prospect in July? The upside is you get the same prospect, maybe you gotta throw in some cash, but you clear a roster spot for Delmonico and Davidson, two guys who will actually be around for the next good Sox team. The Delmonico of a couple of years ago is the exact kind of prospect the Sox will be targeting in a Frazier deal.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 10, 2017 -> 07:30 AM) Rumors now that Tilmon might join Campbell at DePaul Oh Damn.
  18. The 10 day DL makes it so much easier to manage a roster.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) Even better: keep Abreu at 1B, move Melky to DH (if not traded), and play W. Garcia in LF. I am way more excited about Garcia than I am Davidson.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) Literally the same guys you mention for Frazier, Jose is playing a spot they can play. If they trade Todd and dfa Asche, you can slide Jose into the DH spot and play Delmonico and Davidson at either corner. Davidson has already started his slide back to normalcy going 2 of his last 26, 8K, 4BB
  21. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) Geez, he might have added a few irrelevant names, but I don't think there's anything pointless with looking at the progress of a few prospects we wanted (or didn't want) for Q. Austin Meadows, for starters, has a slash of .215/.274/.563 at AAA. That gives him a .668 career OPS at that level. Rafael Devers, who probably wasn't seriously on the table, is at .312/.366/.925 at AA. 6 homers, .310 BABIP. Aaron Judge is absurd, so far. 13 bombs in 29 games. 1.173 OPS. Clint Frazier is at .255/.352/.832 at AAA. Tyler Glasnow is walking the world (19 BB in 27 IP) and giving up a ton of hits for the Pirates. But he's striking out just over a batter an inning. Mitch Keller is stellar at A+. 5 BB in 34.1 IP. Kyle Tucker is at .303/.386/1.046 with 10 steals at A+. Francis Martes has thrown 16 IP at AAA, striking out 17 and walking 15. On the Pittsburgh side of things, Kevin Newman isn't exactly setting the world on fire either.
  22. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) Moncada's K rate is down to 21.7% over his last 15. If he can keep it there that is perfectly acceptable for a guy with power who walks more than 10% of the time. I believe it when they say there is no rush to call him up but I really don't think money is a big factor. You're talking $10 million spread out between 2020 and 2023. That's chump change to an MLB team. I think if Moncada proves his performance is real over another couple weeks he'll be up. I really don't see them waiting until the Super 2 date especially since he already accrued 31 days service time with the Red Sox last year. There is also no good reason to piss away $10 million for a few more ABs in a throw away season, especially when the lions share of that money happens in the end of the deal when we might need to worry about payroll, and not at the beginning when it doesn't matter.
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 10, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) If only he could start being more patient and drawing some walks... But I'm happy to see he has strung some good games together hitting lately. He's so young that it was tough to totally write him off. Getting his K rate down, his average up, and him on the field on a daily basis is a great start for me.
  24. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) The thing with Todd is 1. Had has people behind him who can take over. Jose, while nothing special when you account for his defense, has nobody knocking on his door. 2. Todd doesn't have the weird cult following that Jose does. jose could bat .200 for the season and youd have people here defending how great he is. lol, salty much? The reason Abreu gets slack around here is because he has a history of being a productive hitter who bounces back from long slumps. Glad to see you have moved on to your next target though, hopefully this has the same results for Frazier.
