  1. The carve out for non-competitive teams is hysterical, because it tries to exclude the fact that that the lack of competition is very much due to their own doing. -This is a franchise that hasn't gone outside of the organization to hire a chief executive who wasn't already getting a paycheck from the White Sox, maybe ever, but at least decades. -They are a franchise who was among the last in mlb to make a minimal investment in Latin America -They are a franchise with no presence in the far east. - they have the smallest front office in baseball -they were one of the last to make a serious investment in technology, but are seemingly still looking for intern level people to interpret and create data. -they are the last team in baseball to spend on a nine figure contract. -They may be the only team in baseball without a team President in the front office instead of the C suite. I could keep going, but the point remains that the Sox spend so much time being non-competitive because they refuse to compete!
  2. Hopefully he can ACTUALLY translate to the real club, instead of it being a AAAA bender.
  3. And look, make it about the prospects if you like, but the REAL cause is that Jerry will not dig in and pay players, forcing Chris, Rick, or whoever to trade players for "value" before they expire. There was no reason financially the Sox with a collapsing payroll couldn't have dug in on a long term deal for Garrett Crochet to bridge them into the next decent team. But instead we all know the Sox are cheap, and won't do it, so Stockholm shorthand our way to prospect returns instead of wasting time on the obvious part that they won't be resigned. I mean what is the best way to short circuit a rebuild? How about with a superstar frontline pitcher to start it. Nah. Moar prospects.
  4. Now what did I do with my shocked face.
  5. They said a week ago he wasn't where they wanted him to be, and they wouldn't send him out on a rehab stint until he was. Getz also hinted that his rehab stint might be significant since he had missed so much time, spring training, etc.
  6. And to tack on to this, the one expensive player the Sox didn't try to trade early in this rebuild was Luis Robert, and the reason given? Not enough prospects, aka "value". Moar prospects indeed.
  7. Hazy is right. His entire White Sox service time is a bit Hazy
  8. Chris Sale $27m Dylan Cease $21m Garrett Crochet $25m Carlos Rodon $28m Noah Schultz ~800k
  9. But other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
  10. Look, talk radio in general is a waste of brain power, but sports talk radio is the absolute worst. These guys are literally saying dumb s%*# to fill time and get people to call and email.
  11. You don't get the attention of scouts that way.
  12. Fork Found in Kitchen. This is why waiting until 2026 to trade him was so extraordinarily dumb, especially if they weren't going to pick up any money.
  13. I know we look at the old days of 300 innings and pitching every four days, but pitchers weren't going 100% for those outings on every pitch like they are today. They would rather have 100% of a pitcher for 80-90 pitches every five days, than 90% of them for 120 pitches ever four days. They also have relievers they are pushing out with stuff that puts everyone to shame from the good old days. It's a different game, with different physical asks. If we were still asking for the average 85mph fastball, I am sure these guys could handle it just as much as the old days. With the emphasis on speed, spin, and velocity, versus accuracy and endurance, we can't expect the same things.
  14. CHURN BABY CHURN, ROSTER INFERNO, CHURN BABY CHURN, BURN THIS MUTHA DOWN
  15. I want to see him make the summer before I am convinced. There was a reason a lot of teams were not willing to get on him. Even now 1 in 3 trips ends in a K, and this is on his bender. Are you willing to bet a couple of hundred million dollars on this being who he is for the next six years, even with the red flags in his numbers? That's a tough call for me.
  16. Yep, the Sox couldn't just have an honest conversation about what they were looking for in an announcer, they had to piss in the well before he left like a jilted ex-girlfriend getting dumped on prom night.
  17. Hagen Smith 5 starts 3ip, 48 pitches 3ip, 50 pitches 3ip, 66 pitches 4ip, 59 pitches 2.1ip, 62 pitches. I really wonder when they start to extend him? Last year he maxxed out at 90 pitches, with 3 more starts in the 80's and another 10 in the 70's. Have to imagine it is coming soon here.
  18. 12 homers, 22 walks, 41 strike outs, in 126 PAs. 59.52% Three Outcomes percentage. Also fun: 25 hits for.... 12 homers 0 triples 0 doubles and 13 singles.
  19. With the three batter minimum, they have to be deployed differently than the used to, at the very least.
  20. Jerry. Jerry is the segment.
  21. Of course it is broken. What else would it be?
  22. A good announcer enhances the experience. A mediocre one is one you probably never notice or remember. A bad one is one that you audibly wonder WTAF is he doing?
  23. I think a "train" to describe the people who had confidence in Gonzalez would look something like one of those one man manual pump carts used in the old days on a railroad line.
  24. Full Stop Here: Jason Benetti left the White Sox because they wanted him to leave. Brooks Boyer pushed him to go find another job. If there is anything I hate, it is revisionist history.
