  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) Now, you're picking on 19 year old kids? Yep, ready for a rebuild.
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:31 AM) The problem would still be patchwork fixes. That's why there will be a rebuild IMO. They know this "3 year plan BS" is just that BS. I think the Cubs rebuilding and now flourishing has some affect on it. The Sox are f***ed if they look to the Cubs as an example of what they can do.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Anyone have any suggestions for a 3-4 day resort with pool or beach style trip somewhere in or near Texas? Texas has hundreds of miles of great beaches. Pretty much anything from Galveston to South Padre Island is great stuff. Port Lavaca, Corpus Christi, Sand Dollar Island also worth noting.
  4. Democrats fall into line. Republicans fall on to principle.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) Don't have the link. I'll look it up. Phil Rogers now came out with a rebuild article. Some of his deals were horrendous for Quintana. Looking it up now. Edit: http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/190...quintana-trade/ Really seems like big moves are ahead. Everyone's talking and writing about the rebuild. I think we're finally gona see one. Patience will be key. Can't f***ing rush the process like in 2015. Stay the course, take your lumps and try to build a perennial contender. KW needs to sit back and let Hahn do this rebuild if he's going to keep him. I feel like Hahn has been hamstrung at times. One of these days people will quit clicking on things that link to Phil Rogers.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Turner is pitching on Friday vs Tigers (facing the incredible Fulmer). It's ridiculous he's pitching in a "meaningful" game. If the Sox are truly looking at tearing down, the only meaning left to this season is evaluation of everyone who has long term value.
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) You are really counting on multiple rookies to make an impact all at the same time. That usually doesn't work out well. I was just thinking that everytime I see a list like that, we look back in like 3 years and laugh at it.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) This bulls*** between the two of you is annoying as hell. Both of you should meet up and push each other off a cliff. For f***'s sake, grow up.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) We were stupid for getting him work in a blowout game a couple weeks ago, now we're stupid for not getting him work in blowout games Thank you for this.
  10. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) Ideally he remains productive for the remainder of his contract. If he retires next offseason, the Hawks still pay a penalty. "retires" = LTIR and draws a paycheck without a cap hit.
  11. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) It's all good! I was watching. During the game, there will be ups and downs--Sale was struggling a bit but still getting outs with other pitches. I don't hate your philosophy--not upset at all that you disagree and I respect your thoughts. I'm just passionate about this particular situation because I'm old school when it comes to letting your starter finish the game when he's been dominant. Even more so when it's your ace, and even more so when it's the best ace in the league. I think managers baby their pitchers and it drives me crazy. Bring Robertson in to close out a fading Rodon. Leave Sale alone. The only way you take him out is if Sale requests it. I bet you a crisp dollar that Sale believed with his whole heart that he could finish that game--even with fading stuff. It would take an injury for him to want out. Fatigue means nothing to a champion. He knows his body better than anyone. Jordan took the last shot of the game because there was no better option in the world to take that shot--even if he was tired. He had likely taken 20 other shots before the last, and he was probably tired, but if you had told him he was going to sit out the last shot so Toni Kukoc could do HIS job and score, he would have walked off the court. The most important aspect of that is that PHIL JACKSON KNEW THAT. Phil Jackson LET Jordan be the champion that he was. He didn't take the ball from him BEFORE the winning shot. Robin simply doesn't think like a champion so therefore none of his players are allowed to be champions. The decisions that MAKE champions are taken away from them and passed on to other people when the game is on the line. Sale's arm is worth $20M+ when he's using it to throw a baseball every 5 days--not when he's resting it peacefully on the bench with the game on the line--after only throwing 100 pitches through 8 dominant shut out innings--while another guy finishes HIS GAME. All the respect in the world for my fellow Sox fans...even a big fan of Rock Raines! But this aint gonna change my mind! When it comes to Sale's value, you are light by at least 50%.
  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) That actually would be terrible, as if he retires with the Vegas team before his contract is up, the Hawks have to foot the bill and it still impacts the cap. LTIR is the only way they get out of the Hoss money, which is exactly what I think is going to happen after this season, especially if he continues to play like the 3rd liner. (I understand his age, I'm not saying it's all on Hossa). Ideally he "retires" before the expansion draft so we don't have to worry about it, and we can protect another roster spot.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) I never really read the details of expansion. I'm sure you guys already chatted about this, but The Blackhawks will be quite exposed next year. source: http://deadspin.com/the-las-vegas-nhl-team..._source=taboola With all of the big contracts they have, they should be able to expose some dollars to get rid of.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) Looks like it all grew from this bullsh*t. Into more bullsh*t. And even more bullsh*t. Listen, if it's not being discussed on Reddit or anywhere remotely trustworthy, it's not happening. And yes, that means I'm looking at you, ChristianToday.com. That's what I was guessing. The NBA is the worst when it comes to garbage rumors.
  15. At this point you look at the team and ask them if they like playing in Chicago, because they will soon be playing elsewhere because of this teams play.
  16. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) Do the Bulls operate under a sweetheart lease deal, and have they since the United Center came into being, such that Reinsdorf enjoys the trappings of all of the revenues of that stadium but little to none of the expenses? Because that's what your hero Mr. Reinsdorf unscrupulously secured for himself with the deal with the state back in '88 for the Sox' stadium, and from which he's profited IMMENSELY over the past 25 years. Massive revenue that comes from a Major League Baseball stadium, but no expense. Pure profit for 25 years now. That's the primary reason Reinsdorf is a billionaire today. You can choose to ignore that all you want, but that's the facts, Jack. It's as simple as that. I guess you have no idea how simple math works. The White Sox would have to be worth something like 4 or 5 billion dollars for JR to be a billionaire from what he owns of the White Sox. ($4 billion X approximate JR ownership share of White Sox of 25% = $1 billion) Whereas with the Bulls, he IS a billionaire just based on his ownership share of them.
  17. In the question of buy or sell, this quite clearly answering that question on the field.
  18. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 08:43 AM) Anyone buying into the Blake Griffin for Niko and Taj rumors? I love Blake, but this team needs the spacing Niko brings. Where are the rumors at? Anyone trustworthy?
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Under the (sweetheart lease) deal, the Sox didn't have to pay a fee for use of the stadium until 2008. In 2015, that fee amounted to about $1.6 million. The Sox also must pay a fee on each ticket sold in excess of 1.93 million in paid attendance. Since 2008, the Sox have paid that fee only in 2010, when games drew 2.2 million fans. However, the Sox were allowed to apply a credit based on the taxes the team paid that year, reducing the ticket fee payment from $455,974 to $95,531. "The White Sox didn't have that much of an incentive to really pack the place," Sanderson said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-sox-...0521-story.html Before sweetheart lease deal = Reinsdorf NOT a billionaire. 25 years later after state subsidization per sweetheart lease terms = Reinsdorf net worth of $1.3 billion So as you can see, you are right - Reinsdorf is all about the money, if you care to pay attention to the details of the sweetheart lease deal he got rammed down the taxpayers' throats back in 1988, and from which he's been reaping the benefits BIG TIME for the past 25 years. But because he gets subsidized for low attendance, he could easily go in for a full rebuild and his pocketbook would never know the difference. Amazing what little tidbits of information you find lying in the details! Speaking of lying... There must be some awesome stadium deals out there because there are 15 teams worth more than the White Sox. I know you ignored it completely, but WAY more of JR's net work comes from the Chicago Bulls, which he owns almost all of, versus the White Sox, of which he is a minority share holder.
  20. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) Matt Davidson Davidson was just put on the 60 day DL. He's out for an extended period of time.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 04:46 AM) Selfish piece of garbage? He might be the most popular and most well-respected teammate of anyone in the entire organization. Perhaps the best overall since Pierre in terms of work ethic, swagger and positive attributes. Why let facts get in the way of a good old fashioned irrational rant. Because I mean calling someone out is way more important than actually being right.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 11:07 PM) Plenty of players and teams pass on home run derby. How do you know it has no bearing? Pure coincidence he tanked last year after the HRD? 4 days of rest can't possibly help a ballplayer in a year long funk? Especially when the alternative is a high energy game? Really? I Dont know if there is causation- but there's a lot of correlation. I don't hold any bitterness toward Frazier as I never thought he as anything special. He hasn't overly disappointed me. But you might look in the mirror on the bitterness front. You are the one angry at the guy and having a public meltdown about him in the home run derby. Instead of four days of rest, he got 3. Damn you extra day! Honestly the reality is that the HRD probably isn't the problem. The reality is that the guys who are in it had the biggest home run totals in the first half of the season. In many cases those numbers are unsustainable, and they regress to the norms in the second half. Some people blame things like the home run derby for messing up their swings. Others would say that a guy with a career high of 35 homers in a season, probably isn't going to carry a season long pace of 50ish homers. Many people just point to the HRD as it sticks in their mind, instead of statistical regression.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 07:00 AM) No something is up. You don't see his mom the whole time. The lunch scenes looked more like a cafeteria. This is something with the unreliable narrator again. Yeah, you guys are probably on to something. The ritual. The odd friends he doesn't like. People checking on him in his room. Not having a computer or internet access. Isolation.
  24. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) This was such a good draft. We need the next couple to be like this was, but I'm really high on Collins call and fisher. Hansen is a lotto ticket still but it looks like maybe we saw something we could correct. Burdi is a bit of a mystery to me - if he throws 102, why do guys hit him ? Even if it's straight, a guy throwing 100 shouldn't have a 3.30 era in college and a 7.20 Era in the mid minors (I know it's mini sample size tho) Half of the runs he has allowed in the minors were in his disaster of a AA debut. Since then he has allowed 1 ER in 4.2 IP, with 3H, 1BB and 9K.
