  1. To me it be really, really, really weird that every single year Marco Paddy came back to the Sox and said there isn't enough guys to sign down here, take back this couple of million dollars. That decision almost certainly came from higher up, but how much higher up is the question. It almost felt like an intentional strategy to leave the DR on the table in exchange for maybe getting Cubans in the current year, or the Sox refused to negotiate with the younger kids and because of that were cut out of most negotiated with most kids because they were already signed. Whose strategy and directives those were is very important here because if it was Jerry refusing to commit to 13/14 year olds, that same guy is still in charge.
  2. And you are angry. Quit making up stuff that I didn't say and run along.
  3. Where are you getting this stuff from? I was correcting an inaccurate post and this is what you responded with? Literally none of any of this was said. You made up something to yell at.
  4. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/10/each-teams-penalty-for-signing-a-qualified-free-agent.html But teams still lose picks.
  5. Balta is right that the Sox would lose a high pick.
  6. Yeah, here is the story from the beginning of this off season. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/10/each-teams-draft-compensation-for-losing-a-qualified-free-agent.html
  7. I am pretty sure if signing teams hit the right qualifiers they still lose draft picks, but it isn't the old transfer of this exact pick from one team to another. The signing team loses a specific pick, and the losing team picks up a pick based on their qualifiers.
  8. And as has been pointed out many times, MLB controls teams moving and could easily preserve 2nd teams rights in Chicago with an eye on an easy expansion fee.
  9. I worry about him being more like Tim Anderson in that the leg injuries have cost him that fast twitch explosiveness that made him special. Same with Eloy.
  10. Depends wholey on who picks OL in front of them. If the top 2 are gone, it's a disaster.
  11. Make it 4th then just to make it extra Soxy. It's not like they are picking 10th this year because they picked 5th last year because they were only 3rd worse.
  12. Luckily they had some mid tier free agents so it was really entertaining.
  13. They need the #1 pick in 2026. Maybe the lottery screws them, but being 3rd worst instead of the worst because they played a bunch of guys who will be long gone before they are .500 again would be such a White Sox thing to do.
  14. Rumor was Johnson didn't want Poles around, right?
  15. Not even close. We could have brought in Soto, Burnes and Alonso, and still be fighting to get to .500.
  16. So how many draft slots did it cost these morons to finally win a meaningless game? Will it play them out of the top OLs?
  17. Nobody wants to see this be the worst team in the history of baseball, but we are already here, like it or not. Now the road back starts with what we can develop out of the group that is either already here, or will be in 25. Blocking key evaluations in that process is exactly what we did last year, and here we are trying to figure out who a few of these guys are, all while having a 41 win team. Great. This is so much better.
  18. I mean if you want to operate under the assumption that Chris Getz player development regime with continue to be a complete failure, that is probably a fair assumption.
  19. No I think we have close to 10 guys on the IF who need to be evaluated. Stealing 500 PAs and blocking our top prospect destroys that.
  20. Cool. Help that draft pick
  21. I'd be willing to listen on a real OF vs IF, RP, or C.
  22. At bats and development. As you ignored a million times.
  23. Expensive? No. A waste? Absolutely. Blocking key players ? 110%
  24. Smith is experienced at pitching late into games, and is a much more polished pitcher than Schultz. In a scenario where he progresses and destroys Charlotte for a couple of months, I would entertain the idea for a Hagen call up, but only after forcing the issue. We don't need to Carlso Rodon him so he spends years at the MLB level learning how to pitch to MLB hitters. Dutch still has so much conditioning and game situations to learn through the early part of his window should be mid to late 26. He has literally never worked with starters stuff. He has literally never thrown more than 68 pitches in a single outing since at least high school or summer leagues in 2022. He didn't thrown any more than 64 pitches in a 2024 outing. Learning to pitch to 100+ pitch outings is every bit as important as how many innings he throws.
