  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 08:56 AM) That game last night sure was fun to watch. Hossa's goal might have been the best one I've seen scored by the Hawks in the last 20 years. I think that took greater ability than Toews' goal against the 'Lanche a few years ago... Zhamnov had some sweet dekes when he was here, he'd come in from the side and with one hand put the puck around the goaltender, but I think Hossa catching the puck, dropping it in front of him and slapping it out of midair past a well-positioned goaltender (while moving) was the most difficult move I have yet to see. The cool thing was how modest he was about it in the post game show. He called it "luck".
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Socialism is not the same as having programs for those in actual need. I think that is just being civilized. It's easy to play the game you're playing here, so I won't feed the beast. But no, social programs != socialism. I actually heard a great line from one of the Sunday shows. I believe it was a Rep Ryan from WI on CNBC who said something to the effect of... There is a big difference between equalizing people's opportunities in life and trying to equalize the results of their lives.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) 138 relievers threw 50+ innings last season; on average only 4 of them pitched in less pressure filled situations. I'm glad that my eyes didn't deceive me. I really felt he wasn't challenged last year, and didn't really respond well when he was. I still don't like letting the guy walk away, but I guess I will wait and see how the pen settles out.
  4. Expert Peanut Gallery member here!
  5. At this point, who cares anymore. Tiger is a male ho. We get it.
  6. GAK! (that was me choking back from the shock of the last post)
  7. QUOTE (Fotop @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 02:24 AM) Garrett Atkins would be a nice addition if he could come cheaply (however I imagine there's multiple teams looking at him) Solves the issue at 3B if we're moving Beckham back to the middle infield. I know Atkins was HORRIBLE last year but he's still a guy that plays a decent third and is roughly a career .800 OPS. Think he's out of our price range but I'd be pretty happy if he landed here. Sign me up also for an Adam Miller reclamation project. Pretty low risk in that one with a possible good bullpen reward. He is another product of Coors. These are his numbers for the last three years... AWAY .233 .302 .394 .696 HOME .326 .379 .489 .868
  8. Knight, even you have caught the nerd train? Say it ain't so.

  10. Oh great, here we go with the nerd posts...
  11. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 01:20 AM) It makes me sad to recognize that I'm upset about Chris Getz going to KC for Teahen and damn near forgot that Fields went in the same deal. After the no-hitter and Jimbo's 500th, this guy was probably the only legit reason anyone could reasonably justify watching White Sox baseball in 2007. Shame. I am pretty sure Fields doesn't amount to anything at the major league level. He just can't cut that swing down enough.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 01:08 AM) There seems to have been a falling out between Arredondo and the Angels. He's an interesting candidate, but he's going to miss all of next year due to the Tommy John surgery he had just 4 days ago. The thing is if we sign him, we do own his rights for three years.
  13. I haven't been able to find what DJ wanted, but apparently we offered him $600k http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/...tz-signing.html

We just finished rewatching Season One and are starting Season Two. There is no way we make it through them all, but it is amazing how much detail I forgot. This time I actually laughed at the HS Science teacher blowing himself up.
  15. Zero chance at the playoffs now.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 04:46 PM) I gets it in. I'll admit it if you admit it's your favorite look though. I'd hit dat.
  17. Didn't disappoint either. A great game to partake in!
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) Girl. Boy. Done. Ok, so we all know how you get kids...
  19. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) The recent White Sox all free agent team: (This team would be frustrating to watch, too bad it includes some of my favorite players) C- Ramon Castro 1B- Darrin Erstad 2B- Juan Uribe 3B- Joe Crede SS- Orlando Cabrera LF- Scotty Pod CF- Brian Anderson RF- Jermaine Dye DH- Jim Thome Bench- Tadahito Iguchi Rob Mackowiak Jeremy Reed Frank Thomas SP Jon Garland SP Bartolo Colon SP Jose Contreras SP DJ Carrasco SP Toma Ohka RP Lance Broadway RP Neal Cotts RP Scott Schoenweis RP Octavio Dotel SP Mike Macdougal That team would win about 30 games.
  20. There are a lot of good names out there. The nice part for the Sox is the potential for a depressed market with all of the people out there.
  21. Total bushleague ending by Tampa. I'm with Pat and Ed, I wish we would have tacked two more on at the end. Dicks.
