KW: Pods not likely to come back
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) Boers and Berstein are talking about how Pods wanted a 2 year 15 million dollar deal. For real? Drug test the dude now because he is on something, or he added a 1 in front of that 5, that didn't belong there.

How close is Jordan Danks
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Cowley with the slightly less informative: "Jordan Danks ... C'MON DOWN!!!" http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/5484704492 I don't even waste my time with his feed.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) Mark Teahen at 3B by John Dewan's +/- for anyone who's interested: 2005: -23 2006: 0 2008: -2 2009: -9 He bounced around a ton last year. Teahen started out at second, because of Alex Gordon, and then moved back there for a while when he was hurt. After that he bounced around all over the place.

More Royals Available
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) I think Guillen had a problem with Olivo but I can not recall for certain. The guy still has a gun and would be a great defensive replacement late in games but I do not see it happening. I really would love to see Flowers get another year of practice down in the minors rather than be a DH/C/PH all season. Supposedly Buddy Bell has made some great strides in improving the minor league system from a player development standpoint and Flowers' big strides as a catcher are part of the early results. I seem to remember the pitchers had a problem with his game calling.

Sox buyout Dye
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) This was just a formality. The Sox still have a window where they can bring back Dye at a discounted rate. The problem is at one point they'd have to offer him aribtration to continue negotiating with him (or at least I believe thats the case). Or am I mistaken? The reports are that he becomes a free agent instantly.

KW: Pods not likely to come back
Pods is looking to get one last big contract. Its a smart move on his part, but I can't see him getting nearly as much as he thinks. I am glad the Sox aren't chasing it.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) No. Alexei has the tools to be an elite ss, Becks doesn't. Thank you. Even when he was drafted, the reports all said Gordo was a future second baseman.

Financial News
The important part is actively looking for work. That is what technically makes you unemployed. The different calculations are based off of whether you are still receving funds from the unemployment insurance fund.

Mark Gonzales Interview By WSI
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 09:31 AM) Eh, it still takes a little something. But the bigger personal stake is MG - he has to have access to the team to be effective, so its pretty ballsy for him to call out the team the way he did. Or they just set him up to be the leaker of info to soften the blow from this trade...

Sox buyout Dye
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) The buyout was never even a question, he wasn't going to get the option picked up. The real question is, did they immediately call him and work on negotiating a new, cheaper contract. That is question #1 in my mind. Like I have said, if we can bring back Dye or Thome on a one year deal at about half of their previous dollars to DH, I do it. In Dye's case, he could even be a back up in RF for a day or two a week.

Book Thread
My latest read. It is a very interesting challenge to the basic Pauline tenets of the Christian faith, and looking into actual writings and history to see if the author could better reason out the life and message of Christ. http://www.jesusdynasty.com/

Stimulus Bill Redux
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 08:48 AM) Why didn't we start some massive public works projects? Have the government start hiring more? Moving people off the government unemployment roll and onto the government payroll, seems like a lower cost solution. We are doing exactly that right now. The government is expanding at an enormous rate right now. It isn't a lower cost solution. Government jobs cost more than the private sector counterparts.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 08:04 AM) I agree to drop it. i disagree with your premise, but i understand your point. So, we'll let it go. I'm sorry if i was a distraction or a burden to this thread, but i think it's nice to be somewhat passionate about our team and the players within it. My point has been not to worry, things will be fine even without Getz. Keep the faith. Let's discuss more practical matters. Southsider, do you see this as another piece of the KW puzzle move, or is this a solution to a bigger problem?(whether that be LF or 2b?) It is step one, there is no doubt in my mind. I think Kenny realizes that a move like this allows him to do many different things as the pieces he has left can be arranged many different ways.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:14 AM) Yeah right, that wasnt even close to a foul. It was a correct call. It was as much of a fall as Shaq's last block was.
