Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) and Bolt breaks his own 200m world record time, 19.11 And I thought Michael Johnson's 200 mark would stand for a generation. Bolt better not be cheating...

Chicago is at the top of my list.- Brewers option Hardy, DFA Bill Hall, fire pitching coach
QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) Good for Jason, I hope he sticks in the bigs for a little while. I am still angry today that Bourgeois stayed in AAA while Andy Gonzalez was remaining in MLB during a certainly forgettable season. He was on webgems this morning going up against the wall in right to make a nice catch.- Who here is happy Uribe's not on the team anymore?
One thing about Uribe, you never caught him taking a play off...- Mark Buehrle's changeup voted best in the American League
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 09:55 PM) Where's Danks' change up? About two years away from being consistent...- Cash for Clunkers already messed up????
AND THIS PROGRAM IS OVA!!! http://www.cnbc.com/id/32489561- Who is our OLDEST poster?? POST YOUR AGE!
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) Old people aren't allowed to use the internet. Or that's what I tell my parents anyway, but they don't listen and sign up for Facebook accounts. Grrr. "I'm sitting on the patio..."- White Sox Payroll Resource
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) Yeah, pretty much. Excellent. Thanks for that.- Jon Garland has cleared waivers according to FoxSports
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) I'm to the point I'd rather have nothing and lose than acquire any player that has left out 2005 White Sox team. Garland is gone and never coming back. He wasn't resigned for a reason. Move on. He was looking at a long term eight figure commitment (thinking in the mentality before the economy collapsed)and the Sox had younger cheaper alternatives?- White Sox Payroll Resource
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) Adding up all financial commitments for this season sans pre-arb and league minimum players -- this includes Castro, Kotsay, Garcia and Podsednik since they're all making about league minimum -- including the pro-rated contracts of Peavy and Rios the Sox are on the hook for about $98.275M. So in reality, after we took at all of the cash we got last year from teams, we are pretty much at the exact same payroll outlay for 2009 as 2008.- I'm for cutting Contreras
The mental approach has always been the issue from Contreras, at least since he came to the states. The Sox rebuilt his approach after he left the Yankees and that was when he became successful. It doesn't surprise me that someone saying something different sparks something in him.- Happy Birthday Tony82087 & That funky motion!
Happy Birthday AJ!!- Washburn vs. his former team on MLBN
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Luckily, I go to school in Michigan and get to experience all of Michigan's HORRIFIC announcers. If you think the Tigers announcers are bad, which they are, listen to the announcers for the Pistons. My goodness... We really are lucky in Chicago. We have some of the best announcers on the planet in just about every sport.- Morel voted Best Defensive 3B in Class A poll
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) I don't think so. Crede was an MVP at two levels, A and AA, I believe. Morel while doing well, isn't putting up those kind of numbers. I was thinking as more of a great defender and average major league hitter.- What haven't we discussed?
What it feels like to win a second World Series title?- PETA and an extension of the Health Care Debate
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) It's still cuts into that personal freedom of choice though. I hate smoking, and agree with the laws keeping it out of public places, but what makes tobacco different from alcohol? I agree it does lead to an increase in chances of health problems down the road for each individual, I just have a hard time with the whole regulation of individuals right to make choices concerning themselves. Including health insurance for instance...- Morel voted Best Defensive 3B in Class A poll
Has anyone here seen Morel? Could we be looking at another Joe Crede type 3B in the making?- Dumbest comments on facebook

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 08:34 AM) With the additions of Rios and Peavy and arbatration for guys like Danks, Jenks and CQ the Sox total commited payroll will be around ~90 million W/O Rios, Peavy, Danks, CQ and Jenks the payroll would be: 45 million 45 million + 15 million (Peavy) + 9.7 million (Rios) + ~7 million (Jenks)+ ~5.5 million (Danks) + ~7 million (CQ) + 1 million (Carrasco) = ~90 million. I'm guessing Reiny wants to be around 100-105 million in payroll. He knows KW is building for a strong run in 2010 so 105 million is not out of the question. This will give KW about 10-15 million to spend on free agency. However, lets not count out trades. Jenks may be a strong trade candidate this winter. I was more curious where we were going to come in for 2009.- Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) There are two versions of free at work here, free to the patient and free to the provider. I would hope their would be some co-pay or some mechanism to prevent the "free to me" so I will see a Doctor every week. There is the positive situation of having those treatments actually being paid for directly instead of indirectly. Part of the capacity issue is people using the resources in an inefficient manner. The ER for example when they need a Doc visit. We should gain as we stop treating people for free at the most expensive option, ERs, and begin treating people in a lower cost and more appropriate facility. It is interesting that you say the health care system is on the verge of collapse. If you truly believe that, then I would think you should want to see changes to prevent that collapse. Having health care providers being compensated for their care seems like a great first step. The only other option I would see would be laws preventing patients from being seen, and that seems like a harsh situation we would not tolerate as a society. You mean like not adding 50 million people to the system all at once?- Fields playing worse in Minors than in the Majors
Fields isn't coming back to Chicago, except on a bus ticket.- GAMETHREAD:Chicago White Sox(61-59) vs Kansas City Royals(47-72) 1:05
